DQIX was the first game I ever picked up as a 9 year old girl. Whilst my friends were playing Nintendogs, I was off battling in Coffinwell (it took me ages to get past Ragin’ Contagion I swear). It will always have a special place in my heart. To see it still being played makes me unbelievably happy. Mega congratulations on completing the whole game! Also love the “come at me you bastard!” Peak Britain.

@@roach5606 well on TGS on 2022 they mentioned, it would be easy to do with adding even more content (because they still have all the code for it) and decided that it will be switch not mobile if they do it, so after DQ12 and the 2D HD remake it could be a possibility with the only problem being that Nintendo is kind of letting the switch die preparing for the next console
The ending got me all emotional, I've been a huge fan of Dragon Quest from a very young age and I love watching other people enjoying the games as much as I do, congrats on 100%!!!

seeing 900hp on a character is crazy with you hitting over 200 hp, i just started a new game on an emulator cause i played this when i was younger. back then i barely hit for 70 to 99 per attack on a crit if i got lucky. growing up makes understanding this game an entirely different level as now i actually care about buying stat boost items for my party and am not focused saving up my gold for the strongest sword. though im stuck on a quest 002, it wants me to use 4 emotes in a row which i recall you could press a button to do on the nintendo DS but for the emulator i am at a loss. ive tried changing the order of them and still doing them sequentially but still no change.
Really enjoyed this play through! I’ve never made it to the legacy bosses but this made me go back to do so, if i actually beat 99 nokturnus 12 year old me would be screaming 😭
Cool video! I'm glad to see a play through in 2023. I need to watch the other videos (been watching them out of order). But why do people use falcon slash over fandango. No need to change weapons, 3-5 hits with fandango vs 2 or 4 hits depending on if you use falcon blade or not.
Cheers for watching 🙂 I think it's more because of the sword than the slash as the falcon sword effectively doubles your base attack. I've not tested fandango but I might now!
I can shed some light with my perspective at least. Fandango is actually 3-4 hits (unlike rain of pain *bows* and falcon slash which are guaranteed 4 hits excluding misses). Many people tend to use gladiator in post-game/legacy boss territory, thus stacking flacon slashes with ur gladiators/warriors/armamentalist/etc proves to be much more effective. I think fan (if you’re only gonna have one fan user) is best off for a tank like having a paladin with a maxed out fan stat specifically for reverse cycle (only ability that made fan worth it to me tbh). Oh and then there’s the critical fan like you’ll see here, but that’s a whole other situation for coup de grace…

Oh my heavens this is gorgeous, I’ve played through this game at least twelve times by now and it’s BY FAR my favorite of all time. But SHEESH, the legacy bosses hit reeeeal different. Shame I can’t fight any of the super wicked ones myself anymore😅 But I grew up on this game, and needless to say, nothing has recaptured this entry since. Hoping 12 will let us at least customize our party. Could be cool if each of them has a “story” of sorts, and while we can’t change their voices we can at least change their appearance! Or just have no voices for cutscenes and let us change voices as we please! After all 99 percent of the time there’s no reason a character looks the way they do beyond “design”.
You can still fight them - just need the save editor to download the extra DLC quests (easily done if you're playing on PC emulator, bit more complicated on DS). Not sure how legit this is for all systems/emulators but I can save file at each turn and what ever he does or kills I can restart and use them to defend while others attack. Helped me to beat the campaign boss and leviathan at lvl 35 party and a few grottos. Idk if that's cheating but it works.

The soundtrack just fits so perfectly with the situation at the end ! That is actually wild.
Might have fudged that, not gonna lie 😂 Played without the soundtrack on and then edited it in in post. Had to be done to get that perfect ending

I felt so bad for corvus. It's kind of a shame that he was even the final boss to begin with.
That's what makes him one of the best DQ villians imo. He's one of the few with a great back story that isn't just evil for the sake of evil

I need a lot more than that - my 3060 isn't up to the task! Running in 4K with a load of HD texture mods doesn't come cheap

It was Desmume X432R in the earlier episodes, and MelonDS in this one and the more recent ones (MelonDS is much better imo!)

Why do you use a staff for the priest specifically? Isn't it usual to go with a wand? Didn't think staff was suggested for any class
Staff gives +3% evasion chance. Wands give a bit of bonus mp, but I've found the additional evasion chance to be more useful 🙂

Recorded a total play time of 151 hours in this playthrough (but that probably includes a lot of AFK time + time with speed-up/turbo enabled)
