Alright you guys, what's going on? We are going to get into the Micheal Jackson spins or spin. So, the first thing we want to do is get the preparation for the spin happening. So what you're going to do is your prep. You're going to step on both feet. But what ever direction your turning you want to have both feet go to that direction. If you want to start to your right, and go here, ha. So when you prep, you're going to jump with both feet, ha. Take the foot cross, ha. And that's where you are.
Lets do that again. So I'm turn to my left. So I'm going to prep. Cross, then I turn. Now for you people who are spotter, or technical dancers, if you want to do two turns you may want to spot. So what I mean by spotting is.. Spot spot. Checking out your direction. Now Micheal doesn't spot. He just goes. Then it's up to you. I like to spot just for verification purpose. Yeah, there's your spin.

It means that your eyes must lock on a specific spot for a spin so that you can calculate ...
it didn't require much of an explanation, you just lock your head in one direction from one side until you can't, then you turn your head in the other direction and lock in from that angle. Simple

Spotting is when you pick a location in the room and hold your head there untill you cannot- then you whip your head around to get back to that spot and repeat.

You need to spot. He mentions in the video that MJ doesn't do this, but you should really do it when practicing so you get used to spinning. Just pick one point in the room to focus on during your spin and move your head so you look at that spot as much as possible.

After many many times of doing it, your mind gets used to the motion of spinning which allows you to no longer get dizzy
@@Yoyoitsyoji That's actually not true, MJ does spot, he just doesn't move his head. You can focus on one spot without moving your head. And it's better to not move your head so that the spinning looks more flawless.

Man, I did like two spins in a row - i succeed every time, but every time i feel like throwing up. This dude's multiple spins and then multiple takes without stopping for rest amaze me!
That’s how I felt at first but soon you’ll get used to it. It’s hard to practice it though, cause you get so dizzy after 2-3 tries

Facts
MJ makes it harder and look cooler by not spotting. That is harder cuz you can get dizzy and you can lose where you are.

Sorry, but that's not MJ spin.You should not spin on your heels, one foot is on heel and the other one is on toe.
All the spin formats are good depending on the person but Yes, MJ does do it that way, the way you said. I have seen that many times.

MJ never spun on his heels. There's no control and inertia is lost.
Just watch MJ spin in slow motion. He clearly spins on the ball of his left foot, inside heel of right foot presses against instep of left as it (right foot) hovers just above the stage. It acts as a brake to come out of spin and to maximize balance.

But how do you get the momentum for the second turn without resetting your feet? Once your feet come together after the first spin, it looks like spinning on both heels, no longer using the pivot to guide the turn. Trying to get the double spin down for the thriller dance. please help

I think after right foot merge w/ the left, he'd spinning on the ball of left foot w/ right foot hovering, keeping the spin non spot, that's harder than spinning on the heel.

For all those saying they get nauseous, heres my 2 cents. Keep in mind im not a dancer so take this with a grain of salt. Keeping your head in the direction of the spin will greatly increase your dizziness and the like. Having it tilt in the oppisite direction will decrease this greatly. Might be worth a try.

Ti Ha He is spinning with one foot on the heel and the other is on the ball of foot. It's hard to tell when he does it at regular speed but if you look as closely as you can you'll see that.

This is clearly not how Michael Jackson spinned. His hands were close to his body, and he spinned on his toes, his entire body was at 30° angle fixated to same position. This is more like ballet spin.

That's not the spin....Michael spins on the toes of his left foot and just keeps the right foot hovering above the ground. This guy spins on his heels which is absolutely incorrect. You can especially tell it's not correct because Michael stays in one spot, and this guy is all over the place.
Occasionally, MJ would move during spins and not stay in one spot. Check out the Jacksons "blame it on the boogie" video and the Jackson 5's performance of "Dancing Machine" on the Mike Douglas show". His spins were like tornadoes, and he could move wherever he pleased.
