I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one, Sir Maverick. Regardless of Nigel's status, he has the right to make decisions that best serve his family and align with his vision for the future. While his move may not directly benefit Jamaica, his impact in this new role could reach a much broader audience. It's Jamaica's responsibility to ensure a smooth transition and continuation of the mission that was already in motion. After dedicating so many years to politics, there's a time to move on or up to new challenges. While it is sad to see him go, we should wish him well in his new endeavor.
Do you remember that said mr Clark said that they increased the wages of politicians 200% so that they can retain talents, now look how well that worked out.seem like the definition of hypocrisy to me.
This one is tricky. I agree with Maverick in that his departure can be viewed as "jumping ship". There is much more work to do, and he could stick around to take it as far as he can, maybe until voted out, etc. I also agree that it is reasonable for people to pursue the best interests for themselves and their family.
Maverick vex but it’s still Nigel’s life. I guess if you were given the opportunity for upward movement, you would opt to stay where you are. Well, let’s say that would be your decision to make and live with.
That job will never be complete in Nigel’s lifetime Maverick. He help to lay a good foundation…now it’s time for someone to do the building. He is an individual too… he served the country well…now it’s time to be selfish a little. I celebrate with him… good move Dr. Clark❤🎉👏🏾

Yet it’s the same politicians that are still there and this man jump ship ….. what he has done is no different from Ruell Reid only thing is he left before
Nigel Clarke has not laid any foundation for Jamaica. At best he just continued the PNP's policy of fiscal stabilization. But more pointedly, Clarke was always just looking out for himself. He has fractured the civil service by awarding big salaries to the politicians and top managers while the rank and file civil servants who make the system work, were tricked and treated in a miserly way. He knows that the next round of public sector wage negotiations is going to be very rancorous, and he is trying to escape the migraine he precipitated.
@@earlebart1061 What kind of foundation should he put down for Jamaica???? And the PNP did nothing to stabilize us fiscally. They put the dollar in this forever downward spiral.
Congratulations to Dr. Clarke. He has set the foundation right. This will benefit Jamaica. Stop your nonsense. We have other bright minds. No need to worry. He is responsible for his own soul and growth. 🎉
At the end of the day, his political appointment is not guaranteed beyond the current 4 yrs election cycle. With that said, Maverick, how many of our current politicians do you believe would have turned down the opportunity if they were in Nigel's position, and would you? In essence, politicians are not sacrificial lambs. They are public figures who are expected to perform their jobs for the betterment of the country but they also put family first just like any regular individual.

The last time the IMF did this type of hiring; Here's a summary: Antoinette Sayeh's transition from Liberian Minister of Finance to IMF Deputy Managing Director had a profound impact on Liberia's economy, leading to: - Institutionalized economic reforms - Enhanced global reputation - Strengthened institutions - Cultivated economic management - Resilience against external shocks - Macroeconomic stability - Moderate economic growth - Improved governance - Increased international support Her efforts ensured Liberia's economic progress and stability, paving the way for continued growth and development.
He was only interested in macro economic policies. He did what he learnt in school and remained discipline. But while Jamaica will look better on the global scale, the country is struggling. Regular people are not interested in GDP, we are interested in a better life. Nigel was clueless to that. He cares about numbers but not about people. But we can look at it the other way...He may have set a foundation where future generations may benefit. However we may never see those benefits within our and his lifetime😂. Keep up the good work maverick.
Oral, life is not about money but to develop yourself into a better person. Nigel can spend a couple of years at IMF and learn there every day operations and bring back knowledge to the country. you ever think that?

Had you given the thought that mass Nigel might not be the minister of finance if the JLP loose the next election. Perhaps the he sees what is coming . Young men dream dreams and old men sees visions.
Some things that you have Said don't make any sense, he will be in second command at the IMF, if anyone of us where in is position , most of us would have done that same thing, he was offered job base on is qualification and his experience , he has don the right thing.
Maverick ,call a spade and a spade. How is this in the best interest of Jamaica if Nigel is the best finance minister we have ? Also he increased his salary to supposedly reflect his worth , and now he has jumped ship. Does he still need more money to live? He action tells us he was never a lover of the Jamaican people. Nigel is for himself. I wish him well. We will not be putting his face on any of our currency. He is a traitor to his own supposedly great plan for the financial well-being of Jamaica.
I felt your sentiments Tracey. You are really angry at the man for leaving the job. You would not have missed any of his predecessors. His interest and ambitions comes before anything else. How ungrateful we can be at times as humans?

Glad I have control over my own thoughts and I would assume you do too but I don't see it from the angle you are projecting from.
Foolishness you chat man -Everyone has ambitions and no one will turn that position down ... Pretty sure Nigel will leave the financial model he used and he might just be a phone call away lets be proud of him
Maverick, I don't agree that Nigel's move to the IMF is of no benefit to Jamaica. It's too early to determine that. When these global financial houses make major decisions they impact countries like Jamaica. Nigel could help to influence policy changes there that positively impacts us Jamaica
Maverick Jamaica money was bigger than USA dollar one time ask about how it fell so low Nigel is only one man, suppose he passed away abruptly would Jamaica 🇯🇲 go under, can't please Baccra pickney dem
According to the IMF Nigel is very smart and has done well for Jamaica so blame them. I don’t blame Nigel I would have left too to follow the money train. Happy for him.
He's already making $24 mil plus benefits per year as finance minister, plus another 15mil for member of parliament, so you are looking at a TOTAL 39 MILLION PER YEAR CURRENTLY in Jamaica. This is what you call GREED.
Their remittance also help the country and I think Nigel working with IMF will also help Jamaica,I don't think he is jumping ship.I think he will still help his anyone that takes up his position.
Maverick, you do understand that there are too many variables that affect the continuation of Nigel's contribution to Jamaica. He is reliant on the people of Jamaica giving his party another opportunity in government on election day. Who knows if that will happen.

There are no more P.J. Patterson, David Coore, Omar Davis or Seymour Mullings to help steer this ship.
For some reason, I believe Dr. Clarke will make things better for Jamaica by using his new role in the IMF.
@@JDWBS How??? IMF policies are never meant to benefit small island developing states. They are meant to conquer the economic development of those nations so they can control them. I recommend you go and watch this documentary about "Economic Assassins." Unfortunately the Jamaican economy is highlighted in it. SMH.
Omar who????? 😂😂😂. May Almighty God help Jamaica. SMH.
Is whey the fu...k u get that from?go do some research before u chat fart.u mean the pnp tek 18 and a half years fi wreck jamaica after seaga and the jlp did a repair job when Manley and him friends mash up the country economy.go learn u political history.
@@JDWBS What are you smoking? Do you think he's about to show preferential treatment to Jamaica because of his association with the JLP? This is not Adam Stewart inviting the PM for a flight on his private jet and the PM accepts. No, this job also comes with integrity as a qualification.
A run him run from the truth..prison him fi go.. style dem a style we...
Nigel Clarke will see figures like he has never seen before,Clark's man ,where will you be going to ?
He claimed not to be a politician but if true he did a convincing job imitating one when he gave civil servants a deadline for accepting the meager offer which expired just before the humongous increase for he and his fellow politicians became public knowledge. If that isn't the act of a seasoned politician I don't know what is
Well said
Good commentary Oral. You could have said more, but you wisely stopped at the right point. Keep steppin' Bredda!
The last time the IMF did this type of hiring; Here's a summary:
Antoinette Sayeh's transition from Liberian Minister of Finance to IMF Deputy Managing Director had a profound impact on Liberia's economy, leading to:
- Institutionalized economic reforms
- Enhanced global reputation
- Strengthened institutions
- Cultivated economic management
- Resilience against external shocks
- Macroeconomic stability
- Moderate economic growth
- Improved governance
- Increased international support
Her efforts ensured Liberia's economic progress and stability, paving the way for continued growth and development.
u are right
IMF may also recruited Clarke so that Jamaica does not more away from a third world economy.
U can imagine if Markie did get a job and left jamaica u would never hear the end of it
CNN AND FOX are dying to have you as a member of their team.
@@earltaylor8170 his day soon come. UN human rights commission is lining up one for him
IMF though. he will be working with Jamaica to get Jamaica in more debt
@@Brightersideofjamaica-z2c Exactly 😢
Nodody wants Mark in them organisation
Very fair analysis
He was only interested in macro economic policies. He did what he learnt in school and remained discipline. But while Jamaica will look better on the global scale, the country is struggling. Regular people are not interested in GDP, we are interested in a better life. Nigel was clueless to that. He cares about numbers but not about people. But we can look at it the other way...He may have set a foundation where future generations may benefit. However we may never see those benefits within our and his lifetime😂. Keep up the good work maverick.
Comments like yours and in your comment sections are reasons Nigel decided he needed new environment
Oral, life is not about money but to develop yourself into a better person. Nigel can spend a couple of years at IMF and learn there every day operations and bring back knowledge to the country. you ever think that?
Marerick this is one of the best analysis that you have done. I have to say no more well said.
Foolishness you a ttalk Maverick . Dr Clarke doesn't owe anyone than himself to remain as minister of finance. I am SAD that he is leaving but what if he sees dis as an opportunity to self actualize like any ambitious human being. Look at the position he is taking? What if this has always been his aspiration to work for this organization? Di man duh his time as a.Public Servant. Nuff a wi who a criticized him nah work fi government. He never needed to come back and contribute to the recovery of di Country, so his Patriotism must be LAUDED. How many of us who would have offered such an ambitious position and refuse? What if he is tired of being a minister and prefers to work in such a position? Why can't we say kudo to him for the GREAT job je has done. You all need to read the article published by the Financial Times about Jamaica's financial recovery started by di UNSUNG Peter Phillips in 2013. Also, the news brief by the IMF upon announcing his appointment. We must LAUD such a talent coming from our labour pool. Even PJ Patterson a BIG UP di hire. Tek politics out a it a celebrate fi fi man. WELL DONE, DR. NIGEL CLARKE - best Finance Minister since 1962.
The maverick is d world biss😢
The way I see it the IMF needs someone who can help turn around other small island states. On the other hand Jamaica in a serious worries.
I will be honest he made the best decision for himself.
In this economy in Jamaica and the type of dirty political practices by some Minister it make sense to walk with your hand clean before the hotaclaps drop
So jump ship and run 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️
A brilliant mind can hide malpractice, and the average mind shows up malpractice when books can't balance.
Mystery awaits us
What would you do in his position ?
Although not being a civil servant the principle is the same he is leaving Jamaica to earn more money just like the others plain and simple no loyalty to the homeland
they are all looking out for their own
Had you given the thought that mass Nigel might not be the minister of finance if the JLP loose the next election. Perhaps the he sees what is coming . Young men dream dreams and old men sees visions.
Everybody have a option in life. The man going to work for what he worth
🤣🤡
Some things that you have Said don't make any sense, he will be in second command at the IMF, if anyone of us where in is position , most of us would have done that same thing, he was offered job base on is qualification and his experience , he has don the right thing.
These are the same people who were insinuating that Mark Golding was disloyal to Jamaica, but look who proved to be disloyal 😅😅😅😂😂😂😂
Different senario that!
Tracey you talking crap
@mariohenry6306 Yuh neva know say Oral Tracy a Comred. The organizations he works for, TVJ and RJR, are mouthpieces for PainP. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Paul di barber JAM DEX he have a change of heart
Maverick ,call a spade and a spade. How is this in the best interest of Jamaica if Nigel is the best finance minister we have ? Also he increased his salary to supposedly reflect his worth , and now he has jumped ship. Does he still need more money to live? He action tells us he was never a lover of the Jamaican people. Nigel is for himself. I wish him well. We will not be putting his face on any of our currency. He is a traitor to his own supposedly great plan for the financial well-being of Jamaica.
Real talk brother
😂😂😂😂you never see bolt jump ship when him get famous
Bad example. Leon Bailey is a better comparison.
I felt your sentiments Tracey. You are really angry at the man for leaving the job. You would not have missed any of his predecessors. His interest and ambitions comes before anything else. How ungrateful we can be at times as humans?
Maverick Maverick Maverick how many times did I say your name?David Coore Jamaica 🇯🇲 Finance Minister, leave Jamaica to work with a Bank in Puerto Rico did he jump ship 🛳 just asking, Nigel Clarke job every 5year he has to renew me just see it as promotion you too bad mind
Look at the drastic reduction in our debt to GDP ratio...the underpinnings are there !
Opinions are made to be had and you have yours , Dr Nigel Clarke was presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity and he took it , if in your mind that's jumping ship then can't fault you for feeling that way but we heard and know where that talking point all started .
Big Choppa leaving 3rd world Chopping for Premier League Level CHOPPING 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yup fk jamaica
Sigh.. I couldn't disagree with you more...Congrats Nigel... Go do you...
Their remittance also help the country and I think Nigel working with IMF will also help Jamaica,I don't think he is jumping ship.I think he will still help his anyone that takes up his position.
How will his post at the IMF help Jamaica ????
He is right- he is not a politician. It is a better job. Why wouldn’t he take it?
Maverick, you do understand that there are too many variables that affect the continuation of Nigel's contribution to Jamaica. He is reliant on the people of Jamaica giving his party another opportunity in government on election day. Who knows if that will happen.
