Good review mate! I’ve been using that new drill for a few weeks and you’re dead on with the smoothness. I’m working on vid testing it out against the equivalent Makita and Milwaukee.

I just recently bought the t-18 easy kit for 299 and that was the first tool I bought from festool and soon as I got it I ordered the vecturo oscillating tool. I only really bought the t 18 easy for the batteries and charger rather than paying 799 for the full kit of the oscillating tool. But I do like the drill and it’s so smooth.

Have to disagree on the M12 Drill/Driver being better than the CXS. More power yes, but the trigger modulation and F/R switch leave a lot to be desired!

Tool Curve some excellent points:) unfortunately my body has rejected the F/R switch:/ You’ve got a great passion for tools cheers for sharing that- best wishes on the channel!

I much prefer the CSX to the M12 version.

Why is the E still called the T18+3 when it only has one chuck? Thought the 3 referred to the number of chucks it can use.

Moving into festool from dewalt that I still use. The t 18 is so much more refined than the dewalt stuff. It’s better in the hand and just does everything real well.
I’m hooked and can’t wait for my next festool tool. Having said that I’ll keep using the dewalt stuff at work till they die.

Kind of like the local dealer giving you the first hit of crack for half price to get you hooked. (Though the track saw about twelve years ago was my gateway.)

Festool no longer offers the T-18 E with batteries. They gave up on the 'affordable' entry level drill option.

I Ordered now the original drill with 1x4ah battery, but without charger....199 Euro, so 299 USD is a very good price

The DeWalt 12v line of screwdriver and drill are excellent as well. Ergos are excellent. I have used both for 10 years now. DeWalt has just come out with new, brushless versions.

@@toolcurve Agreed. I bought these a long time ago. Agreed on the singular battery use, but all the 12v tools have that problem. If I was going with Festool, I think that the T18 Centrotec version is probably the best overall value in a drill that Festool sells, albeit still very expensive. Batteries are interchangeable with other Festool tools and the attachments are excellent. One drill, many uses. If I have to carry around two of these things to get the job done, I would probably go with Makita and their compact line. I already have 4 Makita tools and their batteries are excellent. I will probably bite the bullet and get a CXS just to see how good Festool drills really are. Thanks.

@@toolcurve DeWalt is really starting to pick up the pace on the 12v line. TXS was too underpowered as a daily driver for me so I went with the new DeWalt multi-head drill/driver and modified it a bit so the centrotec chuck fits. The 12v impact driver is also really really nice. When I need more power or a side handle I will be using the Festool TPC or TID.

Often manufacturers will have their tools built in other countries to avoid paying higher labour costs. The better companies have stringent specs that the satellite countries must meet. Quality control is still maintained by the parent company.

You show the T18+3 with multiple heads, but figuring out what comes with this kit is not straightforward. Your video shows centrotec, jacobs, right angle, eccentric heads. Festool USA website for 576457 shows centrotec, jacobs only. Tool Nut 576457 shows centrotec, jacobs, right angle. So what’s actually in the kit????

CXS is wey underpowered, and T18 is too heavy with the chuck even with the 3.1 Ah pack, and with this new 4Ah pack is too heavy even w.o. the chuck... Regarding the T18 E, the whole point of a Festool cordless drill driver is the multihead, and considering weight of tool and pack, even the normal T18 is not realy atractive, and that even before realising how much cost only the angled head, and the excentric chuck, and the drill that is not very reliable - mine had the electronic driver dead in 2 years with only light and rare use, and sure was rare coz' is heavy for normal use, where I use Bosch GSR 12V-15 and 12V-15 FC and GSR 12V-35 FC, and Hilti SFE 2 A12, Mafell A10M, Fein ASCM 12 and Festool T12 - yeap, and for hard job stops easy so I use Makita DDF 456/ 480 /458 @ 5Ah and 453 @ 2Ah and Mafell A18 M that has the 43mm colar like Festool DRC/PDC, but is wey more powerful. Regarding those 4Ah packs with 21700 cells, are spect high power so if there is some similarity with Bosch pro core 2 that are rated up to 44 A for the 4Ah pack with 21700 cells, then I think are usable for saws, but are wey too heavy for drills. But not all 21700 cells are that good, makita has some in the 40max 4Ah that are worse then the 18650 used in the 2.5Ah 40max gxt... Bosch pro core 2 18V 4Ah with 21700 is half a kilo, and Festool one is even wey heavyer - no bueno for a light tool. For a 10,8V pack with only 3 cells, 21700 cells are fine - I have 4Ah packs for Hilti SFE 2 A12. I wish Festool made for T12 new packs with 21700 cells.

Making a festool drill without fastfix and centrotec makes zero sense. Its pretty much the entire reason to buy a festool drill. Its completely idiotic to save a few bucks and not getting the full benefits. Its a good drill yes but youll get the job done just the same with any other brand. The centrotec system though makes a big difference
