as a Pens fan I have to agree with you 100 %. It´s been an amazing run but it´s time to move on

I think regardless what management decides, Sid is staying no matter what. Malkin and Letang might want to move on if they decide to rebuild, but I don't see Sid leaving.
That said - what a run. 4 finals, 3 cups, and so many great memories. If I was a Pens fan, I would be so happy with how it turned out. Even Mario and Jagr were only able to get 2 cups, so this was more than you could ask for.

@ yes, Sid is surely staying since he just re-signed for 2 years and took a paycut to help the team. He will retire a Penguin, as he should in my opinion.

The sad part for me is seeing how the Ovi’s career is going out with a bang while Crosby’s is probably gonna end with a whimper

The canes are on fire this year! No historic starts but it’d be cool to see them get some attention!!

I’d like to at least see what the team could do with a different coach before we blow the whole thing up, gotta love Sully and the success he brought us but his shelf life is way past expired. His system’s early success counted on young legs from the WBS boys creating constant sustained pressure on the puck carrier and a dangerous counter attack off the rush, and a lot of dump and chase. This roster isn’t built to play with that kind of speed anymore and he’s failed to make the necessary adjustments to make the most out of the players we do have. Sid and Geno are still playing great and it’s frustrating as hell to watch so I can only imagine how frustrating it is for those guys to still be elite at 36 and 38 and the rest of the team and coach (aside from a couple bright spots) consistently underperforming and blowing any chance of returning to playoffs for one more run. For years it was Jarry’s goaltending that sunk us in key moments but now with competent goaltending we have the weakest looking defense in front of them and offensive output is wildly inconsistent. It’s all over the fkin place

Yeah, moving Eller alone won't make much of a difference here. It's definitely going to take a bigger move to actually move the needle. And you're probably right that firing Sullivan and giving the team a chance under a new coach is the right move.

Yeah I wouldn't doubt it. Sad, but it's time to move on.

this has played out with other teams. staying loyal to your stars and pricing yourself out of a competitive roster. syd is undoubtedly the most popular and loved super star of the past 20 years. they are paying the price now for the core that brought them so much success in the past.

      @ClutchGrabHockey  3 дня назад

Yeah, you're exactly right. We saw the Chicago Blackhawks go through this and it looks like potentially the Boston Bruins are finally starting to go through this now too, we'll see. It's all worth it if you get a Stanley Cup though! Or three, in the Penguins' case.

They are reeling from Hextal and Co’s rot. They are also owned by a Boston sports group- does anyone think they have any interest in them doing well?

Damn, yeah, that wasn't a very good GM era for them.

If Crosby does leave, which I believe is very unlikely; how much fun would it be for him to go to Colorado where he'd play on a same line with MacKinnon

@@jottmann97 you can’t tell me he doesn’t think about it. Father Time is undefeated… he already has a cup but I guess I can respect the loyalty. But still.

That would be pretty awesome. Might as well just hand Colorado the cup if that happens though, haha.

Im not trying to sound like an assh*le or bitter but i can't stand when youtube creators say stupid stuff like..."Dubas should, or is or will or even IS AN OPTION to be fired."
This isnt an NHL video game and franchises DO NOT change overnight in real life.
He has had less than 1½ seasons as the Pens GM and yes, a few bad moves(mainly the signing of Jarry & Graves,) and i don't mention Karlsson because when Dubas traded for Karlsson, 95% of Pens fans and NHL fans thought this is AMAZING and you're lying if you say you "knew Karlsson would be this disappointing as a Penguin." Also, Dubas essentially traded away a bunch of terrible contracts & players for Karlsson, who was coming off of a 100+ point season as a freaking defenseman.
If you want to see the 100% real issue of why the Pens suck as bad as they do now, coupled with not a good farm system... one word... HEXTALL!!!
The amount of IDIOTIC moves and stupid signings Hextall did while the Pens GM for 2 seasons is ASTOUNDING...this along with his Philly disaster will make sure he NEVER gets another NHL GM job in his life, ever again!!!
    ex.
*Protecting Jeff Carter in expansion draft.
*Then signing an aging(old) Carter to 2 years at $3.125 mil per year
*Trading Jared McCann to Toronto for nothing.
*Trading John Marino and Mike Matheson for Jeff Petry, Ty Smith and Ryan Poehling
*Trading for Kasperi Kapanen then siging him to 2 years at $3.2 million per season.
*finally...when the Blues threw Hextall and the Pens a lifeline by picking up Kapanen of waivers and taking that terrible contract off the Pens books... Hextall TRADES A 2ND ROUND PICK FOR MIKAEL FREAKING GRANLUND... this comes after Nashville traded a better player earlier in the day for like a 3rd or 4th round pick!!!

Hey, I appreciate the comment! I'm not blaming the Pens' current situation completely on Dubas, as it's definitely not. Most of the blame is on drafting and previous GMs, as you have explained.
However, I will say that while, no, I didn't expect Karlsson to be THIS bad with Pittsburgh, I didn't like the trade at the time. Letang and Karlsson are both right shot offensive defensemen. So I was telling my friends at the time that it made no sense to acquire a guy like Karlsson. If they really wanted to make the Pens better, Dubas would go after a left handed more defensive minded defenseman. Like a left handed version of Chris Tanev. Someone who could play on the same pairing with Letang, feed him the puck, and hang back to play more defensively. And also shut down the opponents' best players.
