Joseph Boring actually sounds hilarious. Especially if he comes out and is seriously trying to win his matches with the headlocks & bear hugs. In today’s high-flying wrestling atmosphere, I think an AEW audience would get behind the Boring gimmick and start cheering him on ironically. Every time he slapped on a wrist lock, the AEW fans would immediately start screaming “booorrring!” And Joseph Boring would start to “hulk up” and lock on the rest holds even tighter while nodding his head in approval of the fans cheers.

Some characters that would appear in "Mud Show Championship Wrestling" in my opinion:
R.J. Rottencrotch - A guy who is apparently sexually frustrated and takes it out on everyone else. His finisher is called the "Rick Plex" where he flips other wrestlers with his "Richard"
Francis J. Shuttlecock XVI - A snobbish rich kid with a W.C. Fields like accent, and a Wyatt Earp mustache. His finisher is called the Credential, a move similar to a Pedigree.
Average Joe - A nice guy who doesn't always win, but puts on a good showing and gets over with the fans based on his tenacity.
He has a .500 record in wrestling.
Jim Nasium - A meat head who claims that he can bench press 1,000 lbs. Nasium is quite arrogant and says he has won 25 consecutive Mr. Olympia contests.
Japan - A female wrestler who has held both men's and women's titles. She is called the "Tenth Wonder of the World"
Lenny Alpha - The evil twin brother of Kenny Omega. He is extensively called the "Dirtier" and causes chaos in every promotion he works for.
The Young Schmucks - A couple of brothers who are complete buffoons. They exclusive wrestle 8 year old kids.
Dipshit Dave - A guy who is supposed to be a character from the Howard Stern Show. Dave gets over with his clumsiness and stupidity. He's a man who bears a physical resemblance to Cosmo Kramer from Seinfeld
The Bingo Man - A guy in a mask and a matching outfit who comes out to the ring managed by Old Lady Esther.
Bug Zapper - An exterminator turned wrestler. He stands at almost 7'0" and is close to 300 lbs. His finisher is called the "Pesticide" which is a standing double under hook butterfly piledriver. He sports an undefeated record currently as a lot of people are afraid of him. He also employs a chokeslam as an alternative finisher.

The cream always rises to the top. I will give Quack credit for his long term storytelling and the idea behind "The Big Rig." It was a simple look that worked so well, Harper was able to use it for most of his WWE run. But let's be honest, if you looked at Harper and didn't think he could make money anywhere he wanted, you're kidding yourself.
And Claudio... I saw a lot of the matches he was in. He looked like a man among boys in Chikara. He was either taller than them, more muscular than them, or both. The dude is 6'5", has seen the inside of a gym, and is one of the best wrestlers in the world. He may not be a top guy, but he is gonna get work wherever he wants.
Sara doesn't get enough credit for what she has accomplished. She is the reason behind the Women's Revolution, more than anyone else.

Shortly after watching the premier Pay TV event of AEW Double or Nothing last year, I got into watching various matches from various Indie promotions on youtube. I am surprised that they are doing so many Intergender Wrestling. I was under the impression that they are very rare. I am more surprised that the majority of thecurrent talent, both men and women on both NXT and AEW respectively, have gone through intergender wrestling at least once from the small indie promotion, and I they still made it to either of the big league promotions. Some fans may feel that they don't belong in the big leagues because both men and women sacrificed their own dignity for the men jobbing to the women and the women thinking they are invincible and so good in the ring, but some of them are really not. But I guess jumping into a big promotion on a clean slate would be fine, but someone like Brian Cage who jobbed to Tessa Blanchard instead of standing his ground and telling the EVP's to go and stick it, jumped to AEW on a clean slate, but people who witnessed his match against Tessa or heard about it can point to their TV screen and say "Hey that's they guy who lost to that 100Ibs woman. I bet that blemish would last forever in his mind.
No doubt people like Vince McMahon and Tony Khan put their foot down on these Indie darlings and told them "You are in the big leagues now, so none of your bullshit shenanigans or else you are gone." Or maybe Vince likes to punish Indie darlings after hiring them because he later found out the silliness they did on the Indie scene, but who knows.

I watch Chikara and got a good laugh out of Jims review of Chikara, but Chikara has some great storylines and matches and even though it's a "cosplay" kid show , it still has better storylines than the major promotions like the BDK storyline thats pictured in this video. Lots of current wrestlers like Luke Harper,Caesaro, Ricochet and Eddie Kingston all spent considerable time in Chikara. I dont like some of the stuff they do but i could pick apart any promotion i watch. Some of those matches that Jim is slagging off would actually be to his liking if he could get past the gimmicks and silliness. I love listening to Jim and Brian but to say Chikara have killed wrestling is ridiculous! Lol!
    Fire Ant is awesome too!

You mention Harper and Cesaro, but both of them are 6'5" and looked like men, as opposed to children. Harper just needed a gimmick (The Big Rig), and he became a big draw because he was a large man with a good personality and could move. Cesaro looked out of place, because he resembled an actual professional wrestler. Cesaro's ankles are bigger than most of their arms. And he could wrestle like them, only better. Then you had him doing his power moves, and it looked like a dad playing with his kids in the pool. When he started doing it to bigger dudes, you realized how strong he truly was.
As for Ricochet, when I saw him outside of the one meme match, I thought he was very athletic and threw the shittiest, least impactful dropkick I had ever seen. And he does some impressive stuff, but he should protect himself enough to not try to have everyone go move for move with him. If someone can, it should make them look better, not make Ricochet look worse. Ivar was matching him and that made him look impressive, because he's fat and shouldn't move like that. The size also made his shit look impactful.
I don't hate Chikara. It's fun for what it is. But most of that shit has a niche. A comedy guy exists for the fans to generally like them. He can be silly to a point, but he has to be likable enough that people get mad when the heel beats the shit out of them in preparation for them to fight the real star. But there are no real stars in Chikara: Vince signed them all (except Kingston, for his own reasons).

@@BrokenSaintRW True theres a lot of smaller talent in Chikara and indies in general but Chikara do well with what they have.
I started watching in mid 2000s for Ultra Mantis Black and ended up watching every event in order i liked it so much. It's amazing how well they build up the storylines and characters with little money or tv show. I like the different styles and events. Larry Sweeny, Chris Hero, Colony, Team fist etc kept ne watching anyway. Its not for everyone though as you say. Ive never liked Ricochet and I dont know why. I like him more in the WWE but his promos suck bad.
First time i saw Chuck Taylor i thought he would get picked up by WWE but he just stuck with the comedy. Now i cant stand him with the best freinds.

Also, Cornette has booked matches with a guy in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume. I don't mean he wore green trunks and a bit of facepaint. The guy wore a FULL TMNT costume, complete with shell. He wasn't playing a crazy guy who thought he was a turtle. He was a turtle from a children's tv show.
I think a lot of these vids are Cornie ranting at himself...

    • @bitteroldman
      @bitteroldman 6 лет назад +3

Cowabunga, the Ninja turtle was referee Mark Curtis and was done to amuse kids at spot shows primarily. Curtis was a trained wrestler, who could shoot as evidenced in a video somewhere here on RUclips. This was in WCW when a fan entered the ring and was taken down and front facelocked by Curtis. Heenan who was doing commentary, ripped on the fan for getting his ass kicked by the smallest ref in WCW.

Crummels and Defarge, the completely legitimate businessmen, are a great young team that get over with their lack of hygienic practices and their Charles Dickens theme named finishing moves, making them literally the dirtiest players in the game. Defarge is also a great promo. Chikara is still around and still running their wrestling school where they hold many of their events. They have their own RUclips channel so if Jim ever wants to have an brain aneurysm he can watch a free match every Monday.

C and D are a decent team , need more seasoning. The Ice Creams are great team , but need to go elsewhere , hopefully ROH or Impact. Throwbacks are ok , but like the Batri , way to small for the big times . shame. Colony and the Swarm , would be good in the 80's , but too small for WWF against the muscle heads.

jim cornette can be a bit of an ass. i mean just cause its not his style of wrestling he shits on it. chikara is still going strong and shows multiple events a month. also they have some legit good wrestlers. i mean Mike Quackenbush, UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked to name a few. they can put on a great show. and the gimmicks are cheesy but they beet the shit out of some of the gimmicks that jim worked with. i mean the early 1990s wwf had garbage and jim was fully part of that mess. things didnt change until russo when the content got more mature. i mean i know its just my opinoin but i think ill take fire ant over isaac yankem jim thank you. what jim doesnt know is that a wrestling promotion can offer a different type of content then rival promotions. i mean CZW, ROH,IMPACT,CHIKARA, all foucus on different aspects of wrestling that people really like to see compared to WWE and the fact that those promotions are still alive and kicking AND evolving shows you that its not as dead as he thinks it is. the big problem is that vince has alot of money to use against rival promotions. i mean he scoped up TNAs best routinely over the years.
