    I grew up in a highly educated family. Everyone had a masters in something and my mother had a PHD. I also grew up in a poor family where no one was actually able to use their degrees to get work. I went to college for two years and decided it was completely pointless. I couldn’t see a viable career path that would validate the expense.
    I started working on fishing boats and I now run my own operation making more than any of my cousins, siblings or any relation that went to college.
    A big problem with America is we’re too afraid to get our hands dirty and actually WORK. College kids these days want million dollar jobs and huge houses with minimal effort. It’s disgusting.

    • @leonfrancis3418
      @leonfrancis3418 7 месяцев назад +16

      That's a great story, but I don't agree with your takeaway in the slightest.
      The vast majority of Americans are working, and they are working the kind of jobs you don't go to college for.
      Your family with their masters and college education is not the rest of the country.
      People would happily do what you do if it was frequently advertised as a path to financial success.
      It's not, and your lived experience should tell you that.

    • @prof113
      @prof113 7 месяцев назад +6

      @hobobaggins, I agree with you. College is only minimally useful, in a very limited and narrow application, when compared to a learned skill or trade. Academia is my profession and I am very clear with students and potential students. If you don't need a degree for your chosen profession and your focus is more on money/status than the actual benefit the profession provides others, find another line of work. Being a physician should never be about status, power, or money. It should be about servitude to the public. Once you realign your compass as to purpose, college often becomes a useless diversion from your goals.

    We had a trade school program in high school. With all kinds of trades, I took carpentry. At the graduation ceremony the head of the trade programs said on stage to everyone, with the knowledge that you gained in these programs you can get into apprenticeships and earn more money than if you went to college. That speech shocked me because for a long-time teachers and employers always told us kids you have to go to college if you want a good paying job or to succeed in life. Now the truth has been told here. I know a lot of people who have student debts and complain about it; when they ask me how much I owe I tell them $0. Why I used every cent to pay my debts.

    This is so true. I was a tutor at a great University where many black students were not doing well. These students were in the top 10% in their urban public school. They were not prepared for rigorous study. Once they understood, most graduated.

    • @williewhite169
      @williewhite169 8 месяцев назад

      @aureliazak7830, I agree. Because the education system for black and brown students in America do not teach analytical, cognitive, language, creativity, critical thinking or problem solving skills to these children, unlike their white counterparts.
      Black and brown children in America are deprived of early literacy development and emotional development as well as effective communication and adaptability.
      These inadequacies in the education system are institutionalized systemic discrimination.

As there is no urgency to catch them up, they continue to loose ground. Older students need to be held accountable for their education. Learning requires effort. If you are a teacher, then you can already know music is the best way for humans to learn. It's one of the first ways we begin our education. We sing our abc’s and our numbers. Of course they can remember songs they’ve been exposed to repeatedly. Take a cue from that and learn how to incorporate that into what you're trying to teach them. Teachers have to bear some of the responsibility for the children not learning. This is why I chose a union free school district, if the teacher is not effective, they get fired. The School board, parents, students, and the teachers all play a part.

    The student loan issues is created by the government because they know most Americans don’t understand personal finance and are unwilling to make good decisions.
    Also, the government and the banks know that most of the college students are first generation college students who have never been taught how the college selection process should work. Young people select out of state colleges when there are great schools in their state, and they attend private colleges over adequate public institutions which creates the mess we have today.

Having my own business allowed me to make over 100k, but the pandemic slowed it down for a few, so I upskilled. I was offered a six-figure remote contract in cybersecurity
    I was originally on the path to go to law school and got accepted, but at the time, I was fresh out of the military and became a divorced single mom. My college professor at the time said I was making more than him. He asked me why I wanted to waste time on law school. Keep my business going.
    Now I got IT certifications for free and got my Masters for paid for through scholarship and employment. I refuse to get into student loan debt.

      @@jdwool08 People definitely go into debt in trade school and Community colleges. When I got my Cosmetology License years ago, I only paid $6500. I even used to teach Cosmetology and a lot of students had trouble paying from constantly going to these trade schools, taking student loans out, maxing out their fasfa and loans, and dropping out of trade school or community colleges before completing it. Now trade schools charge at least $20k+ and a lot of students do not finish. Just because they are not personally telling you their business, doesn't mean it isn't happening.
      My other trade which is a Class B CDL I got for free though. Most transit companies will train you for free to get a CDL. I also have a BSBA and only have $50k in student loan debt. The rate these trade schools are charging nowadays, you come out cheaper getting at least an assoicates degree. That is why I tell students they might as well finish the program because you still have to repay the student loans whether you finish or not.

    I’ve only watched half of this because I’m sleep deprived. I could Listen to Judge Joe Brown, endlessly. I’ve listened to five hours of him tonight already I tossed my 35 years ago, And didn’t watch TV my whole life I vaguely remembered Brown, But couldn’t place him, Until it was mentioned that he had a TV show. I don’t remember that, but I do remember him from decades ago.
    Besides, being intelligent wise, High integrity, Bold, Etc., This man is Carismatic And captivating Everything he talks about Has impact I’m hoping this helps break through the communist brainwashing on the left, Not just a swing votes, By exposing Kamala Harris With the manufactures that he gives And how he frames The meaning of these facts, It can really penetrate Right through For shock impact. They won’t be able to think of her Stand behind her
    Further, They will see just how disgusting and dangerous the Democratic Party is It wasn’t always this bad We are at the end of the last phase communist takeover, Which is concentrated on the left The right has been cleaning out our Party since 2008. We’ve had impact. The neocons are being crushed The Democrat party It’s not worth saving! We need at least two parties. The Democrat party is falling apart, Which is a good thing Good people need to rise up To replace The corrupt criminals

    I the the education system has shifted. Instead of preparing students for a job they want to do, it has become a way to keep certain people out of certain jobs.
    Colleges I think would rather have many people on campus rather than limit the amount of students to those who can actually find work in a chosen field.
    To keep it simple, a college will bring in 1,000 students but only 3 might be able to get a job after they complete their degree. Great for the college, the finance people paid them. Bad for the borrower and the lender, if the person cant find work.

    The legal system needs more Judge Brown thinking lawyers and judges. There should be qualifications to be appointed to a judgeship. If they have no experience in the courtroom, they should not be a judge or in prosecutorial offices. It takes experience to gain practicing knowledge of the law. And no, no release from student loan debt. It's like expecting to eat for free after you order a meal in an expensive restaurant. Don't pay. Wash dishes for an eight hour shift and clean the toilets after close.

    Hopefully this “participation trophy” nonsense comes to an end. My son’s hockey team was in a tournament a few years ago and came in 4th place. The coach came up after the loss with medals. The kids asked what they were and he told them they were for participating. The kids told him to take them back. They said that since they hadn’t placed in the top 3, they didn’t want something for “just showing up”!

    Brown is referring to the legal and financial effect of a student loan forgiveness, cancellation, or discharge program on the lender. However, in certain situations, federal student loans legally can be forgiven, CANCELED, or discharged. Although a student loan forgiveness, cancellation, or discharge has varying legal implications and obligations, at bottom, the borrower won’t have to pay back some or all of the loan(s).

    He's exactly spot on. If Sally and Bob enter into a contract for $50,000 payable at 6% over 15 years and Sally pays Bob $18,000 worth of payments and stops, Bob may call a collections agency. The collections agency gets a recovery percentage. Then, Bob charges off the debt and sell the contract at a discount when the collections agency doesn't recover anything. XYZ buys the paper from Bob for 50 cents on the dollar. XYZ hires a collections attorney. The collections attorney collects costs plus 33 1/3% of payments collected. The court collects the filing fee, any levy and execution fees. The constable or sheriff's office gets a fee. The city or town that needs to issue a tax certificate or to file a levy/execution gets a fee. So, the same contract from Sally and Bob morphs into everyone splitting up costs and taking a cut.

      @astronomikalac4748, you and Elon sound like fools. After a person graduates from medical school, before being able to practice medicine, that individual must be tested, undergo and successfully pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination which is a three-step examination for medical licensure in the U.S.
