Hey! Tim Sykes here. A lot of people say, “Tim, how do I grow a small account?”
It might seem impossible. If you look at the way Wall Street is structured … if you look at the way most people invest in mutual funds … they're making maybe 10, maximum 20% per year.
So if you have a $2,000 account and let's say you're like, “Oh, I'm gonna invest for my future, $2,000.” And let's say you invest in the best mutual fund in the world. And you made 20% every year. Year one: Your $2,000 becomes $2,400 …
OK, so you make $400 over the course of the year. Not bad. But over the course of the year, that's, like, $1 a day.
Next year, let's say you make another 20%. What are you gonna make? $500. That's it.
That's roughly 20%. So at the end of two years, your $2,000 has grown to $2,900. That's not bad, but at the same time, you wasted two years and you've made a lousy $900.

This video speaks directly to me. This is exactly what I'm doing with the paper trade account on Stocks To Trade. I am trading with a $1500 account, and every time I make even $20 it's a big deal to me. Every time I make $45 to $50 it calls for celebration. It sounds silly but if I can't do it with a $1500 account, I can't do it with a $15,000 account, or a $150,000 account, so I'm going for the knowledge for right now.

You could apply this to other areas of investing as well (beyond penny stocks). Like value investing, for example. There's opportunity there for the small investor that you just won't find with mutual funds!
Since I found your channel and blog I study every moment I can between my time with my daughter and home task. I’ve been following you Tim for about 6 months. Bought a computer for this 5 months ago. Put the money in my account 2 months ago. And now 4 real trades. Implementing my journal now. Putting down what I’ve could done better and what look good on everytrade. Always have my exit plan written down for all trades too. Might increase my lower exit point if the profit is good but didn’t reach my goal yet. Might reduce my higher limit too if not moving enough but at least I have a reasonable plan each time. I have no doubt that I will be your student one day and that this will be my main income. I have no doubt that we will meet one day too. Just don’t know if it will be before or after I do my first million. Probably before on one of your seminar. Piling up $$ to join your student groups. Keep it real and thanks for all your generosity

Cutting losses quickly is key. I didn't on a stock the other day and i made $49 dollars where i could of made $103. Lesson learned!

I just made 58% on only 100shs of ALT at 5.74 to 9.07 AH. This was a 9 day swing trade. Your strategy trading highly volatile pennystocks is the best! I only trade the best setups, even if I have to wait days for them.
I started to really study my 5-6 books on trading that I have purchased over the last 2 years. Hopefully I can curb my time and comprehend the books with a note-taking outlook for the months to come. I mean i'd read and trade but it was not getting me anywhere. My excuse is I procrastinated and played on the market and threw real skill away to memory loss; learning was not conceivable until my allotted trading and study time was placed in a different light... I am on track now Tim.

Question about limit orders. If the stock has a lot of volume and the bid price is $10 and I submit a limit order for anything underneath it will it get filled for $10? I understand if I set it at $11 it will only sell if the price goes up, but at $10 or less ($9, $5, $2) will it get filled at roughly $10 regardless? I would never go that low, I am just trying to understand that if I wanted to sell immediately in this case does it really matter what I set it at below 10? Part of my reasoning for asking this is on a First Green Day overnight trade where I am expecting a gap up in the morning I can set my limit order below my previous day buy price so that if it were to gap down in the morning I set myself up for a fill or if it gaps up I would be filled at that gap up price. This might be super confusing but just trying to understand why this would or would not work. Thanks!

I started studying 2 months ago , videos and trading in a paper account. I cant afford your challenge at the moment so clever me has resorted to watching Michael Goode and Tim Grittani and there old trades they have up on you tube . I am starting an account with $2,000 because i am consistently profitable in the paper account and i feel i need real trading experience.

First of all I want to thank you for doing what you do. You’ve been one of my most motivational influences these last few months. I haven’t been trading very long(approx. 3 months) I’m still a little under where I started. But have been studying every day all day(and well into the nights) I have a small carpentry business that has recently gone to shit. Mostly because I’m just physically worn to the bone. My account is pretty small but have recently been making progress, learning from my mistakes along the way. But now it’s fucking go time as my savings are dwindling. I doubt I could afford to be your student. But I’m not gonna let that stop me from learning and making something out of what I learn. Thanks again, keep doing what you’re doing!
