Wow. To me 1 k seemed a lot! I have seen the same things written about Mr. Farouk and Mr. Ajayi, and it just confuses me that people think the adult story doesn't "fit.". As you said, this storyline means a lot to many adults watching, and it allows some of us to heavy ship in an appropriate way during this show :). As you said, though, I have also known several teens who find this relationship to be one of their favorites of the story.
Compared to other reactors and the numbers my videos usually get, it's very VERY bad actually 😭 Thank you! I really don't get why those people were so mad about their storyline, it's not even like they're stealing anyone's spotlight. The writing of s2 is amzing and fits them as well as the others!
I love your Heartstopper reactions!❤ This is such a good episode, as well. All of season 2 is so good, I'd have a really hard time picking a favourite 😅 The article you mentioned confused me a lot because of this, actually! Heartstopper feels very real to me, because there are a lot of different storylines and there's a balance of positive and negative events. Obviously, it's a series with a particular style of story telling, but the balance of how things happen feels very much like real life to me. Adults having relationships and fully developed personalities is part of that 😅 Not sure why someone would say that this doesn't fit within the show... I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Ben in the next episode! I was similarly curious about his motivations and reactions when I watched the season for the first time, so I wonder if our conclusions about him will be similar.
@@lovemyshelf ikr, like it's ridiculous how most people today assume happiness can only be found in a romantic relationship. They have no right to define what happiness looks like for other people
14:12 I have a theory about Ben: I believe he is a narcissistic psychopath. I think he has finally gotten the hang of appearing human in regular social settings (but people may remember when he wasn't good at it, which may be why a good looking and intelligent person is merely a hanger-on of the top social group.) But romantic relationships are a newer area, so he is still trial-and-erroring his way through. I truly feel he doesn't understand why Charlie is upset and hurt by him, and he probably will never understand deep down. I believe with his steep learning curve he will learn to pass as human again, but any partner of his will probably be in at least emotional danger (we already know at 16 that he's capable of assault.)
I honestly don't think that's the case considering Alice's writing... but to each their own. If this is what you want to see in him, knock yourself out!
I'm totally not saying this is Alice's description of the Ben character-- I think he's strongly coded as a psychopath, but I have no idea if this was their intention. I do not believe psychopathy was ever going to be a storyline or even brought up.
@@genadiaz1988 I don't think it was their intention at all and that's why I'm personally not agreeing with this reading of the character. As someone whose best friend is about to become a therapist, I also think it's actually quite dangerous to give such a diagnosis to Ben if you aren't one. (This diagnosis usually can't be given to people under 18 so there is that) Idk your personal history so maybe you are equiped to say such things, but social media has sadly essentialized every behaviour a person can have as being rooted in some deep trauma or psychological disorder, when most of the time, it's not the case at all. Sometimes people just do bad things (it can even be very VERY bad things) and there is technically "nothing" wrong with them. Ben is just a teenager who feels trapped and obviously experiences self hate bc of his bisexuality. Is he a bit narcissistic? Sure! But lots of teenagers are and even adults. The issue here is that unlike Nick, Ben is not emotionally mature and since he doesn't know how to process all those negative feelings he has about himself, he projects most of his own issues onto others and ends up being a bully. Now I'm not a therapist, but I've had enough conversations with my friend to draw this conclusion. So this is where I'm at.
I’ve touched on this before and it shows how Ben and Harry handle this party differently. Ben has to feel like he has to sneak in, he doesn’t even knock on the door but Harry asks to come in. He knocks and even asks for nick and Charlie. Yes he makes a half assed apology but he has made some growth as a character. I don’t condone his actions prior to his half assed apology but he’s on the right track to becoming a better person even though in the comics nick and Charlie still refer to him as a Twat. He admitted to using homophobia which is a right step and I think he will eventually learn to admit to all his other bullying behaviors. No one needs to accept his apology but he can still better himself. Harry in my opinion is starting to realize his horrific behavior where Ben still uses the victim card when he apologizes. Both apologized for the wrong reasons but Ben doesn’t admit his faults he generalizes his behavior then blames everyone else.
I wish I knew how things work, a guy who 16 think likes me but last time he avoided looking at me and all other times we locked eyes, I never made a move and instead of like date moment the guys I been with just ask me out, me and him struggle to talk and I already dreamed of kiss him, unsure how to do something to kickstart into dating if lucky
Maybe try to talk about anything else? 🥺 What music is he into? Does he like to read? If yes, what? etc. As soon as the conversation will flow better and you'll feel more comfortable around each other, it will be easier to lean into the more romantic aspect of things... i think?
James and Isaac have such an impeccable platonic vibe. So cute ❤
Mr. Ajayi teasing Mr. Farouk needs to be a documentary. It’s so cute 😂
17:01 Everyone needs a contingency plan when vomiting. Take off as many layers as possible, go to the toilet and just exorcise the demon.
9:04 Another opportunity to mention that Darcy should get into event management.
Omg yes she would actually kill it! I always pictured her as someone working in advertising 👀
yeah, i mean Tara needed the whole gang to replace her when it came to prom.😁

James was too good, I really hope he'll find his happiness in s3
He seemed happy at prom though! Happiness doesn't have to be linked to romantic relationships 🥰✋🏻

THANK YOU I LOVE THIS VEST SO MUCH
3:24 Fun Fact: The boys were all tired after a hectic day of shoot while doing this scene.
15:37 And we thought Ben and Harry were the only awful people
No apologies required for the tardiness! One needs to prepare for the emotional wreckage in the last 3 episodes.
I can't wait to see her reaction to Charlie line to Nick when about to walk into Nick house to see dad lol
No need to apologize and I wish a wave arrive to give you 10k views each video
