AT 8:56 of this video, when you have J,J, and 2,2. the game pay the same for jack or better or 2 pairs(1:1), you should only hold the J. right after you hit, the next cards immediately gave you 2 Js, you could have a quad if you only hold the j's. Please keeps this in mind. Good Luck!
Holding J, J, 2, 2 vs just holding the Js, has a higher expected value of $5.25. So Holding the 2 pair (in this exact scenario) is the only option. Steve

As far as looser machines: I don't think it's legally possible to alter video poker results (other than through the posted pay tables).
