That is awesome! Great hits on those machines. Over the summer at the South Point casino I was playing 50 cents and got dealt four to the royal and got it in spades. 20 minutes later hit it again same machine same suit but held 3 to the royal. $4,000 with in 20 minutes and only using $100 to play. I had lost $800 playing quarters so figured something has to change so denom up to 50 cents was the key. Again awesome video keep hitting those jackpots!!

I think most HL VP enthusiasts appreciate that. Coaching the correct calls on close hands is also a bonus! Nothing wrong with giving up some EV to go for the Royal or a bonus quad.

TWO ROYALS near back to back! FANTASTIC! Quick question for you Steve; have you ever kept track of the time or hand count interval between hitting Royals or Quad ACES? I know you keep track of draw counts, but I think a time and/or hand count interval log might be something useful that no other video poker channel is doing right now! KKKQJ 3 suited I keep the suited 3 and hit the royal 6 out of 7 times so far. I know it's hard to swallow but I believe there are Easter Eggs in the underlying VP programs just as when you miss a big hand the card you needed is almost always the 1st or 2nd card in the next hand. It's the Carnival Barker that pisses you off just enough to keep you playing. My last year of playing I netted 300k and finally retired after playing for 40 years. After playing millions of hands you can see random patterns forming ala The Chaos Theory. Fun to watch you guys.

I'm also a big believer in "scoring hands" vs "recovery hands" winning your bet back consistently is where the most money is saved. Trying to score from recovery mode is a mistake which costs you money in the long run. I rarely save 5's thru 10's unless there's no other option.

I got a royal on a dueces wild,no duece for $400. The lady paid me and put 5 nickels in the machine to play it off. I got nothing and she said good luck and was walking away. I hit deal/draw and it dealt me a flush with 4 to the royal, I thought to myself no way but I threw away the odd card in the flush and BAM another royal for $400. I yelled to the lady hey come back I got another one. That was almost back to back, only one hand between them.

To give you the math to this: when dealt QQ885 (as an example) your expected return (EV) holding the pair of Qs is 1.448 credits (per credit bet). Your EV holding the 2 pair is 1.680 credits (per credit bet). So by holding the 2 pair over the pair of Qs, you are earning an extra about .23 credits (per credit bet). Not sure where you made the math mistake, but holding Kings are worth $5.98 more at your level, not $1.25. Congrats on the $40,000 royal regardless though! But what pained me more is that you aren't playing 9/6 DDB at $25 or $50 a hand.
I'm not sure where I made the math error either, but in any case, you are right! You are also right about the pains of playing a 9/5 DDB game. We are hoping that when they open their permanent casino in about a month, that they will offer better VP pay tables. That said, we have been going to this casino for about 4-5 months and have been doing very very well. The odds get really skewed in your favor when you're hitting Aces w/kicker or royals on every visit. I also realize that eventually the odds will catch up with us. Thanks for watching and commenting! I am with you - I always give up a paying pair if I have 3 to a Royal and have hit several on that draw. Same for dealt full house with 3 Aces, always go for the extra ace. Not per the book like you say but definitely has paid for me as well.

This video is very suspicious. They are using slick editing techniques. At 6:22 the credit balance goes from $600 to $400 in one hand. Same odd balance change happens elsewhere in the video as well.
Hi There, you are correct the credit balance changes when I edit out a portion of the raw footage. This has to be done frequently for many reasons like: Copyright protected music in the casino background, foul language, peoples full names being said, Jackpot music playing (which viewers complain about in the comment section so I edit it out) and other misc stuff. Yes, you are right, ~98% RTP. This isn't the best pay table, however, it is the best DDB pay table in this particular casino. The point of trying to play it correctly is to not make the pay table (or RTP) worse by playing wrong. The odd thing about it is since we started going there, we are like 12 Wins and 2 losses, and most of the wins have been pretty big. I'm sure the percentages will catch up at some point. Hi, when dealt A,Q,J off suit, brick, brick. The correct hold is Q,J off suit (according to Wizard of Odd Hand Analyzer--9/5 or 9/6 DDB) by a small fraction. My point was: we normally hold the bare Ace in that scenario. Thanks for watching and commenting. Steve

9/5 DDB, pays 97.87%. What's the point of playing such a bad game correctly?
Yes, you are right, ~98% RTP. This isn't the best pay table, however, it is the best DDB pay table in this particular casino. The point of trying to play it correctly is to not make the pay table (or RTP) worse by playing wrong. The odd thing about it is since we started going there, we are like 12 Wins and 2 losses, and most of the wins have been pretty big. I'm sure the percentages will catch up at some point.
