Thanks for the thumbs up and feedback, good to know you get out in the Sevy' Col' for a few days outdoorsing it. Result with the crayfish - nice to precure food from the outdoors. "Out there & safe" :-)
Appreciate the feedback and info'. Right I think I'll get my butt down to a grow garden store and recce their wares :-) Yes it's good to have a few bit n bobs cache backup at regular sites. Will be uploading the simple cache video soon. ATB!
Great video Pete and good to see you putting out more videos again. Really like the US Camo tarp... the camo on those are great. Looking forward to more videos soon...
Awesome video Pete. Particularly enjoy how you explain the kit and shelter config. It seems simple but I suspect there a bit more to it. It always looks easy when done by trained / experienced persons. Regards, M.
pukka mate - loved it when the birds where going off & you said "ok, got that" LOL nice improvisations in there mate - buscraft wardrobe, bungee spacer, water container et etc. nice cache kits too - i can get some good boxes, ill check em out tomorrow. Spooky how we both done fire pits and wire cooking rack ideas on the same weekend :) i just love feeling the woodland vibe brother - so good to see you and stealth dog where you both belong. knowsis rules roll on the next vid mate all the best
Great video Pete, planning to spend my week off in the Trossachs - uv gave me some great options there. Can't wait to see my mates face when i start hanging my gear up with clthes hangers! Cheers for taking us along
Thanks for the comment M. I find Imagination and initiative also contribute to adapting ones ideas when living outdoors....thiniking outside the box. Cheers.
Cheers J, yes the US woodland camo shades are a bit more blendy in than some other DPMs. I'm considering the DD 3x3mtr multi camo. Plus I'm propecting some others being supplied for review soon. Cache vid up next over the next few days. Cheers m8
Thanks for the likeing! 3x2mtr tarp, not that common to acquire, hopefully will do a review on it soon using a newer one from the suppliers who are based in Thailand....watch this space :-) Loss of your canoe.....real bummer!!
Good vid, some good ideas I will definitely use, like the basha setup, I have a cache out in a forest, I use black plastic lidded buckets and spray them green and brown-ish, plenty wide enough to sit on one too. You can usually pick them up from, ahem, "grow" shops for about a fiver. They work great.
Thanks for your interest. The nylon basha tarp is 2x3mtrs. You can get budget poly tarps like the one featured here over the fire pit in a variety of sizes from 6x4 upwards. 10x8 will do the job for solo outings for sure.
There are some fantastic spralls of mountains dotted around the UK. We also have real good forests and ancient woodlands although not as expansive as north US/Canada/nth Europe and the like. I would think your father most probably liked the sort of cozey and smallness of England, little village roads and country pubs..all quite intimate so to speak. I live with reasonabley close access to rivers, hills/mounts and woodlands etc. All the best.
Yes that's a real good idea, I included the drain of rain water from tarp/shelter potentially into my vinyl fold up bowl in a vid I did last year. Odds on it wouldn't need much treatment if at all.
Excellent video Pete, your positive frame of mind makes your video's so enjoyable - hope you had a good time out - I need a good few days off work to get a good weekend wild camping fitted in. Hopefully the weekend after next.
Yes good times. The chicken was awesome, stocked up some more in the freezer for next time out, flavour and texture is so much better done gently on the campfire :-) Cache video's done to be uploaded soon. Cheers.
Thanks for the likeing m8. That 1,000,000 acres sounds well good to get outdoors and do your stuff. Will have to google earth it and check it out. Safe "Out there"! Cheers
Heyup Tito good to hear from you! Yes the set up was really good for the area I was in, worked well thanks. Dual purpose cache box stool/seat. Maybe there could be a market for them if you have a non sensitive butt to start with lol. "Out there & safe" m8 Regards
I originally acquired it from a supplier in Thailand 3 yrs ago. Hope to do a review on this type of tarp with a sample from the manufacturer if they're still around. It's modelled on the US woodland camo. Should know in the next few weeks. If so look out for the review vid soon after. Cheers.
utilise and impravise i like it. nice looking area ans set up i have the same tarp, that looked like a marching breakfast too me. good vid keep them comming
Hey Mindwiseman, i dont comment much but just want to let u know i watch all your videos and i really enjoy watching your adventures, your one of my favorite youtubers! i always look forward to your next video Good job keep up the good videos! :)
I know of some bushcrafters who pitch in non camp/pitch areas in the New Forest. The rangers know but appreciate the guys respect the land for their craft, keep to themslves and will LNT. It all depends on how and where you are.
Dug the compact foam mat out of the kit store cupboard top shelf, you can see it included in some of my earlier vids. Had this one about 4 yrs. Now I'm using small compact 160cm x 50cm x 3cm self inflate. Rolls up nice and small.
Heyup Mike. Brick built rocket stoves...you'll be wanting carpet on the island next lol. Serious note - yes the bricks are worth considering for a stealth permanent bug out for sure. Potential to maybe muster bricks from a surrounding demolished build area, will check it out. Bricks on a floating trailer could work, potential probs when oncoming boats and canoe has to manouvre towards bank with tree/foliage overhang to snag swerving trailed kit.Cache vid up soon. Safe back at you m8!!
Heyup m8....you win the prize of a weeks supply of stinging nettle & sticky weed tea for spotting theywere protein powder containers LoL. Yes they're usually quite sturdy little containers for the job for sure. About 8 yrs ago before I considered stocking and back up of food, I chucked out about 20 of the blessed things. Typical case of keep hold of something coz you might need it for something, eventually chuck it out and frigging month later...jeezz could have done with them lol. Cheers bud!
Heyup Paul, hope you can get out soon, maybe in some better summer weather if we're lucky to have some dry sunny stuff :-) M8 that particular Chinese chicken is some of the best I've had on a campfire....soooo tender and flavoursome, of all places it's from ....LIDL!! lol. All the best!
Heyo Nick, you know me outdoorsing it is home from home. Will be knocking up some of those dainty leaves & plants next time for sure m8. Simple cache on other vid, bit more explained. Should be end Aug'/Sept' time with my son, will be good! All the wellbeing back at you and yours buddy!! Cheers
Ha haaa them adlibing birds m8 alaway trying to interupt lol The things we can do with bits of stick especially meat scewers...good to improvise for sure :-) Yes bita synergy going on with the ol' fire grills lol, certainly home from home for the likes of us in them thar stealthy woods and safari dog. Cache vid up over the next few days, then hopefully some past vintage canoe river journeys for the ride. Cheers buddy!
Yes I know what you mean. The main put off for me was the colours more than the pattern. Some pics or vids make the shade look quite gairish, bright or unatural. Eventually saw the 2011 version in real time situ (same colour as previous versions as far as I know) and it looked reasonably near nuff drab shades of foliage colurs. I think it would stand out less than a one colour e.g. olive green - tarp. Would be good it they did it in different versions of digital. Cheers m8.
Great vids Pete, I've done a lot of wild camping over the years and still liking seeing how others set up their kit ,always more to learn, just made a very small windbreak some tin foil & thin card inspired by Kenneth Crame's camping oven ,always trying to save weight ,all the best Will
Great vid as ever Pete! I am a saving a few of those containers myself from protein shake purchases, work very well once sealed up eh! All the best mate!
A quick one in case you had not thought about it; you can also use the outer water container to collect rain water running of your tarp, this will give you an additional supply of relatively clean water.
I will be interested to hear what you think of the DD multicam pattern as a few people not to keen on it (Repeated pattern, not very natural looking). Cheers...
Great video Pete, loved it, always learn from, and enjoy your vids...I must get out soon too...I could almost taste that chicken..LoL... nice area, you can't beat getting out there. Nice one. Cheers Pete. :-)
love the channel pete ! , my lad and i often head down to loch ken with our sevylor colorado and wild camp in the forest there, we feast on crayfish !!!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video and the set up was great. From this video I have taken so much from it. My wife who is not a Bush craft person commented on your dogs rug thinks it looks fantastic. I must get one for my dog. Thanks for showing this.
Thanks for commenting with positive words, glad it was of help/interest. My dog was on my half folded compact foam 180cms x 55cms 300grms sleep mat, nice for her to rest on plus she gets next to me on it at night. "Out there & safe" Cheers
I'm trying to get started up more and more in Germany from a Scotsman and would it be okay for me to add certain videos as I really do like them. Bush Craft in Germany If you would like to join and add then that would be nice!!!
Great vid man, It does seem as though you carry a ton of stuff with you but then you have the canoe. If you had to ruck in for a few miles things would be different as you well know. You have trmendous skill and experience and it comes through. Love it.
Thanks for the positive words Joe. Yeh the ol canoe can certainly allow one to not have to go light, although I wouldn't take stuff for the sake of it. Whether living outdoors to sharpen ones skills or just enjoying leisure time in nature it's all good stuff :-) ATB & Cheers!
Tarp from ebay dealer in Thailand. Will normall come up in general ebay search. Am hoping to do review of the dealers hammock and 3x4mtr tarp in near future with link where to acquire them from. Cheers
Heyup Darren I'll get back to you about boxes, presume they'd be water tight metal ammo boxes. Also I'll get back to you regarding kit shop visit. Appreciate it closes end of July so will only consider private viewing on approval....your approval? as it would seem you're part of the furniture lol. Also you stated about something in the pipeline regarding a tally. ATB cheers buddy boyyyyseeee :-))
Great video. Like all the explanations behind the reasons and decisions. What is the make/model of the green waterproof jacket that is drying over the shovel on 12:35 and features again from 34:20. Tried to spy the label on your channel vids but have been unable to...
As allways love your videos . What size is your tarp I wish I could find one like that. Like your dog . A little bumed seeing your canoeing 1 month a go mine was stolen from my trailor in my drive way.
Thanks Vinny, much appreciate the likeing feedback. All the best!
Thanks for the appreciation Doug, glad you like the stuff and hopefully spurs you on to get "out there". All the best.

Enjoyed that Pete, nothing better than cooking over an open fire :-)

Great video. Like all the explanations behind the reasons and decisions.
What is the make/model of the green waterproof jacket that is drying over the shovel on 12:35 and features again from 34:20. Tried to spy the label on your channel vids but have been unable to...
great videos, slowly working my way through them. 1 question, do you have permission to camp there or is it public land?
As allways love your videos . What size is your tarp I wish I could find one like that. Like your dog . A little bumed seeing your canoeing 1 month a go mine was stolen from my trailor in my drive way.
great stuff a question where did u get ur tap from cheers
