I honestly wished for Retribution to be just Ali with a bunch of anarchist henchmen, taking his revenge against those who wronged him:
Brutalizing Kofi (for stealing his spotlight), beating Orton (for injuring him), taking on Bryan (the champion he faced where the crowd booed him), and finally... Brock (who stole his MITB). Maybe afterwards, have him challenge for the title with the help of his henchmen until they turn on him eventually for his leadership abuse.

@@Pauldjreadman don't get me wrong, Retribution as an idea, could have been good, but the execution was just utter horseshit. That is THE core issue with Retribution, they are a stable meant to destroy the corrupt institutions that WWE possess but the moment they signed contracts to RAW, that is when they really screwed up.
And he booked Retribution bye turning his version into a NXT Invasion angle. And this NXT Invasion better than WCW Invasion from 2001.
Honestly, I think the idea was dead on arrival due to previous anti-establishment angles in the past, each with their own mixed results.
@@mattsugrim7132 At the very least they could have split the group when Ali had his lot sign the contracts maybe getting a fun couple of months while the whole faction internally explodes at the end Ali's side come out on top and reveals he never really cared about the cause he wanted to use this group for his own gain. It was all an absolute disaster I genuinely don't know what WWE were thinking wiht most of it.

He did do that partly with his hacker storyline, which had that hilarious team of Sheamus and Baron Corbin.

I had the tag titles vacated at one point in my 2K Universe Mode. I believe it was because of the Ambrose heel turn right after he & Seth won the titles (before it actually happened irl).
I had a whole tournament afterwards that led to The Usos vs. The Revival at WM35 for the dual-brand titles. It wasn’t the main event (that was Bálor/Styles for the WWE title & leadership of The OC), but the tag match was definitely a main event contender.
I stacked WM with the best possible matches. The Shield Triple Threat, Bryan/Ali for the CW title, Shinsuke/Cesaro for the IC title, Joe/KO for the Universal title etc. I wish WWE still put that kinda effort into their WM cards.

After watching: well he’s done it again.
I was already sold when he had Keith Lee and Mia Yim have their onscreen issues.
But did he? Like he said, he didn't REALLY rebook Retribution as it was, because not even he could salvage _that_ inconceivable shitshow. He just made up something totally original and called it "Retribution".
Denise Salcedo would be proud of that plate collection.
P.S. I asked for this booking MONTHS ago. Adam said He would do it once it ended. He kept his word. Thank you Mr. Blampiad.

@@daboomaninc739 that was rebooking the Invasion. Not the actual heel run itself, he kept Austin a baby face in that storyline.
Honestly Austins heel run in 2001 was pretty good it just needed a couple things. One explain the turn (which they didnt do) as Austin slowly watching his spot disappearing as new guys like HHH and Rock carried the company in 2000 which was at that point the most successful year in the companies history, which is why Austin needed to beat Rock at WM 17 and "sold his soul" to Vince to do it. This leads to Austin slowly growing more and more paranoid like we saw and would be a great time to get some new guys like Jericho, Beniot, and Angle over which is what they were doing...the problem is the invasion came along and kind of screwed up everything as suddenly Austin in on team WCW and being aligned with a bunch of jobbers dispite the fact anyone who knows Austin knows he would never join back with WCW.

I didn't know how much I wanted an 8 man tag between Undisputed Era vs New Day and the Street Profits until I heard Adam say it.
When I saw the first vignette of Retribution when they threw the Molotov, I thought, "Wait, are these the ninjas that abducted Samoa Joe?"
Also, one of the only good things to come from this storyline in reality was a match Mustafa Ali had against Ricochet shortly after his reveal.
I have a feeling that Black & Decker Cordless Electric Screwdriver will be the standout member of the group!!
Man, I had high hopes for Thresher #2.

Okay. That part CAN actually work if you look at it from a perspective of damage control. It reminds me of an old Kevin Steen promo from his ROH days.

Assuming for whatever reason, the police aren't an option (And really, in America, THAT can be justified by "I don't trust them."), your options become:

It's only a matter of time until Adam starts getting indirectly referenced in WWE/AEW promos. If it hasn't happened already.

This is rather amazing. I know Adam typically chooses stories that were handled poorly, making them easy to improve upon, but it's a shame someone like-minded isn't making decisions in the WWE.

2:32 i find it really hard to believe that 10 years ago WWE debuted The Nexus in the best way possible by actually destroying stuff and assaulting those in and around the ring in a way that conveyed them as a major threat yet can't help but debut Retribution in the most half-assed way possible by having them cause very little damage and just acting like a bunch of lame punks who think they are "cool" rather than a genuine violent group that can be taken seriously.
