I played all the old dragon quest games a long time ago, so excited for this game, Watching a good looking man with an amazing voice play one of my favorite games growing up makes my soul happy.
I got the original Dragon Warrior as a bonus for my Nintendo Power subscription when I was a kid. That was my first introduction to RPGs when I was like... 7, 8? Just old enough to read the manual and the amazing giant map that had all the monsters with their statistics on the back. Loved it, and so nostalgic for this series!
Jesse's ravishingly good looks are neither here nor there, but I started with DQ8, mostly because it was the first one released in Europe. It sounds kind of crazy that the first 7 Dragon Quests were deemed not worth localising.
Jesse, the movie and the twist at the end make sense if you realize 3 things. 1) The movie is titled "Dragon Quest : Your Story" 2) The movie is entirely based on the plot of Dragon Quest 5. It is Dragon Quest 5. If you have watched the movie, you've just watched an abridged version of Dragon Quest 5. 3) Dragon Quest 5 is by far the most popular Dragon Quest in Japan.
not really, only reason is to get a certain class w/o using an item but there NO reason to drag a gadabout around when you can just power level one when the time comes, also the same time you can make a gadabout you can also get said item in a nearby dungeon and your WAY better off making ANY other class into that certain class
The old Dragon Quest games were formational games for me as a kid. Playing DQ1 on the NES was one of my first gaming memories. I finished DQ1, 2, and 4, but never finished 3. The video game store rentals weren't long enough to finish 3.
I love all the DQ mainline games. 11 was phenomenal. Dragon Warrior was the name of the first game on Nintendo and it was the first turn based rpg I ever played.
49:40 "Chat's gonna look like the Pope's anime character, for sure" ...I had no idea that was a thing (what a way to get those news). Their name is Luce, which is the Latin word for "light". Interesting how they didn't shy away from choosing a name similar to Lucifer, which means "light bringer" in Latin.
When I did the personality quiz it told me I was a lazy piece of shit who needed to get my act together. Honestly it made me laugh cause I was expecting the usual heroic pep talk
DQ3, then Dragon Warrior 3, was the most influential game in my life. Have been extremely excited for this and the remake of 1 and 2. With how the releases of DQ games in the west has gone over the last 2 decades I never thought anything like this would ever be available.
@@the-NightStar 1 game does not a pattern make. You can't neglect to consider the entire history of jrpg's struggle to be localized since forever because a few games have done alright.
@@the-NightStar Square Enix unfortunately has the habit of comparing everything to their top performers and despite having an absolutely stellar result in the West by comparisson with what would otherwise be expected of the series, DQXI still fell short when compared with the first two episodes of FF7Remake and FFXV - yes, it's an unfair comparisson, but it's one Square has made Things look bleak for DQX Offline ever releasing in the West, for example :c
I would have liked it more if Jesse got the Clown/Silly or Wit/Smart personalities. Both fit him more than Macho but sadly the game has it as Macho/Idealist and he is definitely an Idealist. Makes no sense but thats how it is...
What’s your TRUE name? And when you were born? And the 3 digit code on the back of your credit card? How about the name of your first pet? What street did you grow up on? I see what the devs are trying…
Still have my old “Dragon *Warrior*” cartridge, back before they changed the name, love that black little game cart lol Edit: Mistitled, and Clarified.
@ Old name the very first game was released under in either America or japan (can’t recall), had my copy on gameboy color, black cart, three characters on the front in the obvious style appealed to my young dbz obsession. They later released Dragon Quest as we know it. If someone wants/needs to fact-check that feel free, either way I still have the game lol
The only thing I have as a minor complaint in this game is the text. it's too HQ still which makes it a little jarring compared to the 2d sprites. Reminds me of some of the older FF remakes with chibi characters for the android.
barely, any class can make that choice gadabouts can only do it for free only time its worth it is if you want 3 of that one class ans your hero which imo is kind of boring but y'all play how you enjoy :D
They did not. You are horribly overexaggerating. They removed a tiny, almost indiscernible amount of cleavage on one character class, so tiny that it's barely an inch on artwork, and on a priest they ever so slightly modified a cross into a trident. They barely changed anything, and it's not even anything perceptible that you or anyone else would ever notice unless you're zooming in on two tiny inches of character artwork. That does not even come close to amounting to what you just said.
Are you really being that over-dramatic about a literal tiny, minuscule inch of character artwork that no one would ever notice unless they zoomed in on it? I think you have greatly misinformed.
i played the Original Dragon Warrior on the NES way back when, then i jumped to DQ 8 on the PS2. Edit; i almost forget i really loved playing Dragon quest monsters on the GBC too.

Crendor will bloom if you keep him around, i'd love to see you play more of this
He‘s a Magicarp, one might say.

Please industrious sir, with tears in my eyes i come from the morning show àsking you to play more of this game

I thought you were naming him Rock Hard and was like this is the greatest LP of all time
This music is so nostalgic of my childhood. So much joy hearing this music.

I got mine with Nintendo power subscription
Dragon quest 11 is genuinely the #1 best game Ive played. It was everything I’ve ever wanted from a game! And it was my first turn based game!!
Thanks for playing this great remake!

Dragon Warrior VII (and Dragon Warrior Monsters 🤔) was my first DQ game and is still one of my favourite RPGs to this day.
DWM was lit.

Those green slimes understand how to 'die happy .'
There’s something worrisome about seeing a clown with a wooden club.
What a cozy game.
I don't remember walking in the desert in the beginning questionnaires at all. That must be unique to your answers.
Just finished DQ1 on switch and working on 2 cant wait to play this.

You mean how Dragon Quest 11 did incredibly well, and the series has a larger and more loved presence in the West right now than it ever has?

Aw yeah, Jesse, whatever you do, don't buy equipment. Just explore, and you get it for free
I remember having to chain rent the old one. Hoping no one would save over my game.
1:33:58 I've heard a flock of ravens is called a "Conspiracy of Ravens" but I guess there's a few different options.
I assume the person who came up with it thought the ravens huddling near each other looked like a bunch of people in trenchcoats.
I want Jesse to continue this if only to see where Crendor the Clown ends up.
you really dont the class is just a joke, it only has ONE use and imo its not worth it
@@Failedlegend Really? D'awww. Still! I like the playthrough. :D
@@PeacefulSubmission def fun :D
We almost share a birthday. Mine is May 19th.
I will never forget your birthday now
OMG I love the animations...I must get this..
Jesse, will this be a full run of dragons quest or a demo run?
Also, would it be possible for you to do a playthrough of dragon quest 8?
First one I played on Gameboy ❤
Should have gone Roc Hardbody

This game looks like Live Live.
I don’t trust hot dream women anymore. I’ve played BG3. I know where this ends up. Also, the graphics really remind me of the Octopath games.
Are we going to see any more Metaphor?

And when you were born?

Hey wait a minute…

Dragon warrior?
Still got mine too fabulous game.
Might be a little inacessable to modern audiances though due to being a single char rpg.

Dragon Warrior, actually. They used the word "Warrior" on the NES and Game Boy games, later moved back to the Japan-accurate "Quest"

I'm pretty sure you've killed many moms and daddy monsters, that's show them...
Game said I was lazy and to go touch grass
That stomach looks wrong that looks off
Let's go with the new Mr cox game
Let the quest begin
wtf lol PATTY chill
Why do you, on one hand, value story and, on the other hand, try to skip a bunch of it? 😂
"Do you enjoy physical pursuits?"
...
*doubt
This obviously means going outside and doing physical stuff. Like hiking, sports, lifting bricks, etc.
His personality type gained is Macho, its also called Idealist.
Nooo Jesse don't do the mode for game journalists! You literally can't die, that's not a dungeon crawler!
Imagine if stardew valley looked like this.
i remember when it was draggon warrior and it was owned by square soft. that when i started
if this is like the original, then Crendors worth will be revealed at level 20

Dracky quest difficulty is basically cheating because you can't die but I guess it's okay okay because you are not doing a full playthrough
Where is Skyrim?
Todd Howard sent it five years into the future.
@person3714 Damn you Todd Howard! I'll keep waiting, but now I know who is on my side, and who isn't.
Who cares? This is better.
Ya know shame they censored the shit out of this game .
