    • @js250
      @js250 8 лет назад +11

      Michael, that video is very limited in explaining the workings, and does not even explain that the burning of fuel vastly increase the volume of the exit gas compared to the volume of in going air, thereby creating the thrust. Also to get the fuel to burn it must first be ignited and a turbine engine does indeed use igniters (or spark plugs) as Tevin said. It is not used to sustain burning but sure is needed to start the process.

    • @2R0bin0
      @2R0bin0 8 лет назад +8

      Suck squeeze bang blow. The PC-12 uses a turboprop and as any other turbine engine ignites the fuel/air mixture in the combustion chamber with igniters. Turbine engines even have multiple igniters which are used during the critical flight phases (take-off, landing, or even during abnormal situations e.g. severe turbulence) to prevent a flame-out. During cruise igniters often aren't used

Same altitude as well. Let"s see...uses less fuel, flies just as high , seats as many ppl and gets there with time to spare. I"d buy the Pilatus.

    I can see why they're getting so popular here in Colorado. They're great for our thin-air, low-lift takeoffs! Leadville (LXV) sits at 9.927 feet for example. You really need that extra performance to clear those mountains!

      +Ryan McFall that's where it's nice to have markers for your last chance to bail, if you're not going your required speed at that point it's time to shut it down. After that you better be committed

    Can a variable prop provide reverse thrust? That woulda been sick if we would've backed into his hangar. And would've been funny to do a 100 pt Austin Powers style turn at the end of the runway.

    That has to the scariest setup, taxi way looks unbelievable, how would one describe this, it is as if the plane goes off road before as it approaches the grass strip, it looks like a James Bond escape, fascinating, this is where aircraft come into their own, in the mountains maybe hours from anywhere, start the propellor and Bob's your uncle, stunning aircraft also, what a setup.
