I'm a single mother. My daughter earned and saved her money. Yes she bought the trailer before her first horse. She was 13 and the best thing that could happen for her. Taught her responsibility and respect for the horse and all living creatures. She became involved in 4 - H and rodeos. She had to keep a strong GPA plus caring for animals. Honestly the love a girl gives her horse is something else. Enjoy the excitement. ❤️

I started when I was just a couple years older than her and that was just the beginning. It ended up turning into a passion and a career. Horses kept me going through the hardest times of my life, gave me peace and kept me out of trouble because I spent all my time in the barn😂

I think its awesome that London is riding. my daughter started at 9 and rescued her first horse at 12. She is 19 yrs old now and has rescued 2 of her 4 horses. She currently has 1 horse and it has been the best thing she has been involved in.
She has worked at barns, people ask her to take care of their horses, etc...
You won't regret it. They learn so much.
I look forward to seeing London with the horses in the upcoming videos. ❤

Oh boy are you headed down a rabbit hole Granger !! I had my first pony at 7. Had horses up until age 56, when my health took a turn. Actually a dear friend of mine still has 2 of my horses on his ranch and I have visitation rights ! Lol !! The horses in my life knew my deepest thoughts and kept me out of trouble and gave me something to look forward to each day. Heck yes, it's work. But with London starting the way she is, she is getting to see just a bit of the work that goes into their care. She may say heck no when she learns to muck stalls !!! Lol !! This was so heart warming to see !! Yee Yee !!

Oh, its definitely a problem for you! I started my love of horses at about 7 or 8...and went out and found (on my own) a pony to lease named Dinky Donuts, for $50 a month. I told my mom she needed to take me to sign the contract, and she did. That was the beginning of it all. Let her fall in love with the horses and the sport of riding. It is such a great experience and there are so many good life lessons that will come from it.

It will be the best thing she’s ever done. I got my first pony at 8 years old. I was born obsessed with horses. I went on to show in 4-H with my horses for 10+ years and even brought them to college with me. I’m now 25 years old and I still have my first show horse that I got shortly after my pony. It kept me out of trouble and of course away from boys haha. Horses are so so special and although it can escalate from riding lessons to owning a small herd, it’s worth it. I am grateful my parents supported my dreams!!

We are a horse family, my husband is a farrier, I grew up with them and roped, barrel raced and as an adult showed in western pleasure and hunter under saddle, and my now adult daughter took to the hunter jumper barns my husband shod for as a child and she rode and showed at hunter jumper shows until an adult and college. Now her daughter, my granddaughter, has a nearly identical pony to TikTok named Snowman here on our farm along with a buckskin gelding named Dent and rides at age 4.
Yes, London will need that special older full-sized horse someday, but learn on the schooling horses for now and the next couple of years. I tell people whose kids want to get into it to just go outside and throw stacks of $100 bills into the air and watch it blow away. Kidding but accurate, but truly worth it for the memories we now cherish.
I love your trainer, she seems really fun, and love London is wearing a helmet. Loved that picking out the feet is being taught.
Don't buy a young horse for her ever. She won't "grow together". Approach the horse at the neck/shoulder first, not the nose albeit TikTok seems very willing knowing kids come packed with treats, most horses hate being approached on the nose or face first. No treats when a bit is in the mouth. If she comes off, and she will, let your trainer handle it...don't go running out to hug or brush her off, etc. The trainer will know what to do and get her back up.
Don't stick with private lessons once London can ride off the lunge strap on her own, let her ride in a small group lesson. It teaches so much and gives each child a break to watch her comrades as the instructor works on them in the group lesson. Pressure not just on her performance the entire time and she can watch and learn from the other girls. Also, bump her up to twice-a-week lessons if you can afford to. Be leary of leasing a horse for her if you are approached about it. Not until she's really accomplished on schooling horses and going to shows.
Not sure what direction ya'll are going, that's a dressage saddle but going the hunter jumper route and to the schooling, shows is super fun. She would most likely show in the long stirrup classes now, then into beginner, to intermediate as she gains knowledge and ability. Or if you go stock breeds such as quarter horses, paint buckskin shows in the youth English and western classes when you change trainers at some point, and I'm afraid that is going to happen more than once as you go along. Sometimes it's messy but try to keep it friendly. Not really important now, but just how it all evolves. Also, your local 4-H has great shows with western and English classes for stock-type horses such as AQHA (quarter horses).
    Let her ride!

Knowing her love for animals, it is a given! Get her one she can grow with & train. It will become her best friend, confidant, her peace when she needs to reflect, figure out things or to distress. There is a reason they are therapy animals. They are intelligent, intuitive and very loving.

I purchased a full grown, older, well trained horse that was short in statue and gentle for them when they was young. They rode in local Showdeo's, like a rodeo but for kids, where they have contest with horses for all ages. They won Ribbons and Trophies that they still have til this day. It's a great thing you are doing, and yes, make them do all of the work that comes with owning a horse. Lot's of love from the American Hillbilly and the Hillbilly Nation, Hillbilly Up brother.

Perfect addiction for any kid, girl or boys. The horse is a perfect friend, guidance counselor, heartbreak healer, and keeps kids from getting bored and getting into some kind of trouble.
There are different types of horse rider, English, western, rodeo, trail, sheriff posse, search & rescue. So many paths that can lead to great jobs/ hobbies as an adult.
Tiki tok the pony is a great beginner size. By the time your daughter is 13 yrs old bn she will decide if she will stick with horses and need a horse of her own. And which type of horse she will need.
I had horses for my kids and it kept them on the farm longer and out of the typical teenage trouble kids seem to experiment with.
Good luck, and I hope all your kids get the chance to be involved with horses. I started at less than 2 years old & had a fantastic childhood.

I always was gifted horse riding lessons and with 14 years old I wanted one of my own so so badly. My father didn’t buy me one because it was too expensive. At that time my world broke down. But some years later I was grateful for that decision, because I lost the interest in horse riding. My experience: some girls stay with it forever and some just don’t.

She then moved on to lessons and at 15 had her first job there mucking stalls and feeding the boarded horses. We were military so we leased a horse every time we moved so she could continue lessons. She loved it so much and began competing and was on the equestrian team at TXST. It never leaves them and is an expensive but wonderful activity to be involved in. She now rides for fun whenever she has time. Good luck London. It will teach you so much and most importantly have fun!!

Your daughter is blessed with the love of animals in all their shapes and sizes. Be glad if she develops a passion for horses and if she stays with it through her teens. Horses are an expensive addiction but a very healthy one to have. She is blessed to have your support and encouragement. For me, horse fever began before I could walk and is still unsure 68 years later. I did not have parental support but I did have the support of friends with horses they "outgrew" that still needed somebody to keep them in shape and cared for as they deserved to be. My children were raised with horses in the manner London is learning now. That is an excellent instructor to start her as she should go on. We always groomed before riding and again after riding to thank the horse for our ride. May sound silly to some but it was a matter of mutual respect. London has a ways to go before she decides whether or not she wants to stay with it and what trail her equine experience will take. English? Western? Show? Trail? Pleasure? Endurance? Hunters? Dressage? Roping? Cutting? So many trails to choose from. You are at the trailhead. Best wishes and best of luck for a memorable experience.

At 10 years old I had my first horse back riding lesson( I live in Ma)◇ I fell in love with it and had a passion for horses. I was also into Irish dancing and swimming. My parents said you need to choose one. I choose horse back riding. Did it cost more heck yes because I went into competition. However, I cleaned stalls and worked whatever I had to do to help pay board and cut horse costs and help my parents. I will tell you it shaped me into the woman I am today and my work ethic and drive today was because of that experience and I'm 35. I took riding lessons when I was younger. It was just as you described where I learned to do all the work. I got ride with a great uncle of mine and the memories will last a life time! I’d definitely say this is gonna be a good problem. Makes my heart smile for London.

YES you will be supervising London getting a horse! My dad made my brother and I buy our first horse. We paid $87.50 for her, the man wanted $125 but felt sorry for us! 😆 ( that was 58 years ago ) I absolutely LOVED my horses. I would race home from School and be trail riding until dinner. My dad made sure I was up in time to feed and clean stall before school. I helped pick up hay out of our field to feed them. Spring time my brother and I raked and load the manure spreader before we got to play or ride. I showed and back packed for several years. Still Love them. Let her learn from your friend she sounds like a really good teacher!

We own Tatum Stables in Oregon. If she wants to spend some time learning the daily grind of what it takes to care for 12 horses on a daily basis, she's welcome to come out west! Both of my daughters have horses. They are amazing animals and don't leave time for boyfriends!!

I grew up on horses... got my 1st one for my 5th birthday, it teaches them responsibility, and to care for their own horse... and you are right... I could throw bails better than most boys my age and even better than some teenagers when I was 10... it's a good thing Granger... granted she may become a bit of a tomboy... but the relationship between her and her horse will be wonderful and as long as I had my horse... I didn't care about boys till I was in my late teens...lol... everyone is different granted... but I was too busy with my horse to care about boys..., and I was never bored... now days kids get bored pretty easy ... I'm old (61) but I still have such very fond memories of my horses... I have not ridden in prob 15 years ... but I have no doubt I still could if I needed to and its very good exercise... as always ... thanks for the video and.... from South Dakota, stay safe

I grew up with horses and ponies. Loved it! My favorite part of my childhood was riding and just spending time with them. Amazing animals. Glad she loves it so much. It’s therapeutic and calming.

As London learns more and gets more comfortable she will want a horse of her own …horses are also great therapy …don’t fear her falling in love with horsemanship she will grow more in ways that will astound you…❤️

Yes could lead to you buying London her own pony or horse. We started our daughter at age 8 with a Welch pony in 4-H. Then a Morgan gelding at age 10. At age 12 a Quarter horse gelding for the Quarter horse circuit. We all loved it however it was our life meaning not much time to do other activities. Some girls just love trail riding which I wish we had done. I think family and friends going on a trail ride is a wonderful way to include all the family members. I will continue to follow you and see where the riding lessons lead you. Love ya all!

I was three when a horse showed up in my yard and I wanted to keep him. In my little mind, I wanted to just tie it up to a tree. needless to say, I didn't get to keep that horse. Eventually, we were able to fence in an area and built three stalls and I got my first horse. What a relationship we had together. It was the best. This is not a problem if this happens to London and your family.

What an amazing video. I think this is absolutely wonderful for London. The experiences she will have, she will never forget and I mean NEVER especially if you go on rides with her.
My Mom and brother had horses when we where growing up. He went to Horse lover's day camp and at 13years old met his wife they are still married they have been together for 44 year's. Even tho I did not ride I still have wonderful memories and that's most important. I just lost my mom 3 weeks ago.

Granger, It's great that she has started with the English riding saddle, it's the best to start with. She has a great instructor. It's a lot of work, and expense to own a horse, but it's so rewarding. They're such wonderful, and amazing animal's. I miss mine, I used to have. They were amazing. 💜🤠🐴

I grew up as a military kid and we moved a lot, so having a horse was never in the cards for me. I fell in love with horses through books and my parents let me take lessons when I was 12 - it was heaven! My teacher did the same thing: I learned how to take care of the horse - not just how to ride it. I learned so much about responsibility and empathy for animals. You are raising a livestock veterinarian for sure!!

That's a rather silly question Granger, "Do you think I'm in trouble?" Of course you're in trouble every little girl dreams of having their own horse/pony! 🐴
I've had horses and ponies since I was 2 years old thanks to the love of my dad for horses and passing it down to me.
You have plenty of room for horses and barns and sheds for shelter for them to get out of the storms and shade from the sun. I can think of much worse for her to get involved with or more expensive things to waste your money on than a beautiful 4 legged friend for London. Better start building a fence & looking for a good, well broke sound horse now. Have a great time riding London I'm so happy for you and can't wait to you riding more! ❤🐎❤
