This is my old stomping grounds! I used to live right outside of MNF and spent every bit of time I could up there. I Still have a few hidden camps and cashes up there. One got burned up a couple years ago though
Just a little camp tip (of which I’m sure you need very few.) When I head out with meats and eggs… I always bring bacon. A: it’s freaking bacon… yum… B: you can always MAKE your cooking oil with it. Just need a little spare baggy, bottle, or foil to store it in. Good stuff.
Excellent video always. The fronty is coming along nicely sir. Glad the suspension system is working out awesomely. I need to upgrade mine on the Tacoma, maybe that will be a 2023 goal. I also noticed in a video you got the snow peak fire pit finally? ;) can’t speak highly enough of it. Look forward to the rest of the uploads. Sean.
I live in Bay Area but only been up to MNF once, many years ago. It was a zoo where we camped so I never went back. This is making me rethink my MNF ban! Also... I'm confused, you were alone here right? Did you really eat 2 whole pork chops and all that squash yourself!?
Haha, they were two pretty small pork chops and just two little summer squash which cook down to almost nothing. It's actually a pretty small pan. I generally only eat two meals a day, and here I just had meat and veg with no starch or carbs of any sort...it goes down quite easily and I feel MUCH better when I eat that way. :-)
Probably been asked many times... When you go on these solo camping/expeditions, what preparations do you have for encountering potential dangerous wild animals? For example do you carry some sort of repellant or spray? Prior research? Reading caution signs?
And just to mention: I did watch the FAQ video. But that was more song the lines of "I'm not worried about it", but curious if you still prepare for anything of the sort.
I have a question.....I am going to get a iPad and was wondering which model you use and does it have to be wi-fi and cellular or can it be just wi-fi? I will use gaia
I'm running an old 3rd-gen iPad Mini. It needs to be a cellular model in order to have a GPS receiver, but the iPad itself doesn't have to actually be on a cell plan. If you have a GPS unit of some sort already that is capable of Bluetooth pairing, you can use it with a wifi-only iPad, and some people do this, but I think that only makes sense if it's all gear you already have. If you're buying an iPad, I would just go straight for the cellular model...much less cumbersome to only have one device to manage and keep charged, and never have to worry about any connection issues.
It's the hood latch. Frontiers are notorious for this. I've tried one suggested solution but it didn't last long. I need to try something else because it was especially bad on this trip. I just keep forgetting about it when I'm at home and have so many other things to do on the truck. :-)
Nice! The Mendocino National Forest is my home away from home.

Mendo forest/ Mendo County has some of the best wheeling in the state. Not to mention the best trails and terrain if you ride a dirt bike. Good stuff.
Wow! Only 9 comments! Well at least you got it fixed. Thanks for taking us along! George.
Love your stuff man , keep on keeping on... Seriously like your ideas and style.
Wonderful to finally see some trees in that national forest! Guess we’re kinda spoiled here in Oregon. The fires sure look devastating down there.

Nice camp spot that’s for sure!
As always, great soundtrack
Aside from great Nature views which are excellent, the insulation sure improved sound quality in truck!.
So much fire damage. Wow.
Your videos always make me want to work on my truck. Primo stuff as usual, can't wait for the next one.
Looking forward to part 3. Great video.
Great viewing, as always, thanks! Gotta say, I know you're trialing it and taking your time, but the rear of your truck is spartan 😆! Good luck 👍
I look forward to exploring outside of Oregon more… these videos only push that want more haha great as always
just found your channel, liking the vids. being a nissan fan boy, i love your choice in truck, don't need to see another taco.
We tacoma owners are everywhere
You should raptor liner your truck so you can drive through all the branches no problem

Looks like a great trick. How much 4wd did you need?

Awesome content as always! I did detect a squeak when you came up to that awesome campsite. Have you noticed it or found the culprit?
Probably just the leaf springs. Not much you can do for it

Nice looking baked potato. Do you feel like reverse tater surrounded by all of that foil?
which drone did you use in this vid?
Were you north of CA 7 or south of it?
How much additional fuel do you carry?
6 gallons
