    I moved from Tonga to Australia in 2005, 2020 I moved from Australia to United States and after watching this video I want to move back to Tonga! 😂 I remember growing up in Tonga we didn't have money but we didn't need it. We would go fishing and catch other things in the sea to eat. We would go hunting for meat and also grew our own vegetables. Now that I am old enough I learnt that living in the islands is much cheaper, stress free than living in country like Australia, America, New Zealand, England, Canada etc. Tonga and many other islands may not have materialistic things that these other countries have but they have all they need.

    • @sailingpopao
      @sailingpopao  3 года назад +1

      100%! After living in Samoa for a year and then Tonga we noticed the exact same thing. Less is more, the simple life is far less stressful and we found ourselves much happier because of it. Sorry for the late reply!

      Where's your mom from? I'm half too. I look more palangi though but my mom remarried to Tongan so we were raised Tongan. I love going to Tongatapu because no one expects me to speak Tongan fluently. My son is blonde and he speaks Tongan too. We love going to Kolonga and cry when we leave in true Tongan fashion.

      Interesting. Same here! I am in the process of purging all my dirt dwelling crap and will be buying a sailboat this summer/fall to start a circumnavigation. I will be fishing, scuba diving, spearfishing as well as participating in a number of citizen science data collection projects. All in the name of creating great RUclips content. Maybe we can do a collaboration of some kind.

      @@iffystill5554 I hear you the problems for Tonga started long ago, when the white man came with all his different religions, to confuse the people oh, and also to separate the Tongan people with denominations, they know that the Polynesians and the micronesian Are one of the 12 tribes of Israel, white people are also a problem to the Polynesian and micronesian people as well, Tongan people will make it, just got to come together as one.

They are always looking for volunteers in a lot of amazing places, we spent a year in Samoa doing something similar. Living is cheap here, rent is about $50AUD a week each and a nice dinner costs about $10AUD, beer $3AUD. Thanks for watching!

      Hi DiaconS, you may find it interesting to know they were never technically a colony but a British protectorate to protect them from German colonisation like their neighbour Samoa. In our experience most people in Tonga can speak English, particularly anyone in the government or tourism sectors.
