I dropped out of 9th grade when I was 15 years old. My parents put me back into public school and I hated it! I knew a couple of people there, but people my age were in 10th grade in high school. It was so embarrassing. I came out of Christian School to Public school in advanced classes, my grades were that good, except math. I was bullied on a daily basis about my weight. I put on at least 40lbs. that summer from eating my depression away. So my point about this song, sorry, an adult from church had the nerve to buy me this album of Lulu's and proceed to tell me I could lose weight & get my GED. Okay, I thought! So they have issues with my weight & they think I am stupid too. I loved the album, but it didn't inspire me to do either thing. I had another idea the next year I knew would work even better once I thought of it. My cousin got kicked out of his Jr. High for sitting the roof on fire 🔥 accidentally. Vice principal came in the restroom and my cousin threw his lite cigar out the window, on to the roof, in the fall time of the year. Yep, now you get the picture. Where does that work into my story? Well, you see, he got thrown out of school for it. He landed in a school I had never heard of before called Cabell Alternative high school. Jr. high or High school, you got thrown out, you got sent there! I my cousin if I talked to the fellow who runs the program, you think he would let me in? My cousin said you haven't done anything wrong. No but I dropped out at 15 years old and that was illegal and I am not 18 years old yet! He has to let me in! Plus there are all different ages there, I will fit right in! Sure enough he let me in and he said I could go wherever I wanted with my record and I told him No, I want to go where I will blend in. He said Good luck with that. I was there 2 & a half years. I graduated February 7, 1993 along with 6 other classmates. It was actually like having a real graduation! I had 8-10 people there for me. One of the best days of my life and I still have friends from high school. Loved it there!
