More impressive than I expected. The only thing that I can see missing from this model is the people! I'm sure Guildford was a busy place, not deserted.
Hi there, thanks for you comment, glad you liked it! This video is actually based on a virtual reality envrionment which you can walk around freely. We had originally wanted to show further settlements, but the scope was unfortunately too large this time around
You can see a lot of hard work & detail went into this model, but this short format cuts between very short scenes & I found it difficult to place / compare to the modern day town even when pressing pause every few seconds. Will there be a more interactive version available for museum "kiosks" for those what would like to explore your virtual world in more detail?
Hi there, thanks for watching and for your comments and feedback. This was actually launched in March as a virtual reality experience, where you are able to walk around the entire medieval town (as well as the modern-day castle gardens) from anywhere in the world with a PCVR headset: store.steampowered.com/app/1862880/Guildford_Castle_VR/ There are no museum exhibits currently, though the experience is featured at a number of physical VR arcades around the world, including in the UK by Centre VR in Bournemouth.
Absolutely brilliant! I was born in Guildford and have always been interested in the town's history. Seeing it depicted like this is incredible.
Absolutely magnificent! Cannot wait to see more!
AMAZING 🤩

This was amazing. Any chance of expanding the view up to the local villages at the time? Burpham, Merrow etc?

Bet it was still ridiculously expensive to park your horse & cart....
