Unfortunately the problem is with your assumption that 12000KWH is produced per day, that in fact is not correct if we assume that the turbine works at 50% efficiency, then it is in fact 500*8760*0.5= 2,190,000KWH. That means per day it generates 6000Kwh which means your profit is cut down to half.
Water to wire efficiency for a Pelton Turbine is ~85%. Regardless it is typical to have the rating based on the generator. So on this case, the generator is capable of producing 500KW of electrical energy. No one quotes it in terms of mechanical energy.
that is correct but your poer is determined by not just the pelton turbine efficiency but other factors as well, as for noone quoting it in terms of energy, ive done projects where that was the case.

Is the definition of micro hydro in Canada is it 500kw, and small hydro is 10MW
