I was an entertainment gambler for the first few months of gambling and then one time I took $50 with me and won $18,000 with it. It's crazy how the whole experience changes for you. Every feeling after that is just multiplied and it almost feels like you took some drugs or something. Ever since that night, I go into the casino, trying my absolute damndest to be an entertainment gambler with a small budget but I don't think I can ever get over the high feeling I once had on that night and always end up playing the same way I did after I won. I'd say I've definitely given it all back by now and lost more as well. Dangerous game, this gambling is.

My wife is in category 1 and I'm in category 2. We usually take $500 for her and $500 for me. Keep our bet range from $1 to $5, depending on what we play. Obviously averaging around a $2.50 bet. My recent hand pay of $1,500 was on a $2.25 bet. In the end, our sole purpose is to have fun. That's all that matters. Bottom line is this. DO NOT GAMBLE WHAT YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE. If all you can afford is $20 to lose, play .25. I have seen many people play 5 lines or 1 line for a penny a line, and they were just as happy as they could be. Stick with that rule always. Just go in thinking that gambling is entertainment. If you win, fantastic! If not, it's gone. Don't look back. No regrets. If you stick with the rule, You could afford to lose it. Don't try to win it back. It's not going to happen. Don't go sneaking off to the ATM to get more money. Be done.

Anything below 200x their bet should not be considered huge wins. I also know over time, casino will always win, especially on slots.

I started a low budget gambler only bringing $50 then eventually after I hit my first hand pay ($4,500 on a 2.25 bet) I slowly started to realize it was just luck that day and I now bring around $500-1k on average, some days I hit handpays some days I’m up a few hundred and many times that 500-1k disappears. Definitely be smart with your bankroll and even if you win 30% of what you brought be satisfied and leave and use that another day. The days I chase are the days I end up with my biggest losses and the days I focus on enjoying myself are the days I have my best wins. Bring what you can afford to lose and you’ll hit a jackpot eventually if you haven’t already.

I'll give an example: I was watching VegasLowRoller (very questionable branding imo, at least at this stage) for a little while, but became disinterested pretty quickly because while I think he is genuinely quite likable as a person, I just disliked the approach he took with his content and how he depicted his wins and losses and also relying on those same cringe sensationalist preview images in his videos. It just smacked as disingenuous to me. Again: I'm genuinely happy for him and he seems very likable, but I just wish he approached the framing of his content differently.
Cowboy Slots obviously does exaggerative thumbnails and the like too, but I personally prefer the way he frames his content comparatively more because it's more objective and rooted in context with how he guides us through his processes.

Not sure if there is an exact category that fits me. Up until 5 years ago my slot gambling was +/- 2 x month with a $500 bank roll each session = an annual gambling bankroll of $12-$15k which is what I determined I personally could afford to loose. Even if I won other than a decent jackpot which was rare, I would play back most of my smaller wins. And not only did I walk out of the casino more often than not a self inflicted looser, at my level of play spread over the course of a year the comps I got like free buffets, toasters, and $50 in free play here and there were worthless to me. Realizing all this, I decided which took discipline to stop all land based casino gambling and only gamble on my cruises which I usually took no more than 2 x year. Doing this allowed me to take on each of my 2 x year cruises 1/2 for each my annual gambling bankroll which I had enough bankroll to play +/- $1k for each day of my cruises. And having that type of daily bankroll and playing only slots like Dancing Drums, 88 Fortunes, etc. that pay pretty good line pays, in playing back a good number of my smaller wins being $100 or less, by 3/4 of the way through a cruise I usually achieved a point total of 30k or above that would pretty much guarantee me a same level future cruise comp. So even if I blew through my annual gambling bankroll of +/- $12k divided between each of my 2 cruises, I always got comped back another cruise after each for me and a guest which dollar value is in the $4k range after you deduct out the costs like port charges and other fees all cruisers have to pay. I look at it this way, for the same $$ risk and possible loss, a comp back of a $4k valued cruise beats a $12 valued toaster hands down!!! And I might add, I have won some pretty decent jackpots on my cruise the largest being $8k which happened on the 1st night of one of my cruises. And that $8k jackpot went right in my cabin safe and came home with me. 😁

This is a great video because even if we are armed with the knowledge of a safe bankroll for our lifestyle it’s easy to get caught up in the casino. Seeing the videos of people winning constantly does make you want to play outside your budget sometimes. Grateful for your channel, Gamble Smart and the community forums on your website because now I know better how to manage my bankroll, build my bankroll and about the volatility of machines, I now carry a lockbox (and I keep a bank in my hotel room or my car that you can’t get into without a can opener) and I can walk out of the casino not feeling like crap because I actually kept my winnings. Even responsible people get sucked into the casinos tricks so it’s ok to arm yourself with tools for success. There’s nothing wrong with you if can’t control yourself in a casino, it’s designed that way but if you set up failsafes for yourself you’ll feel way happier about playing. Also, your account and gamble safe supports people who may have an issue with gambling and offer support and I think that’s phenomenal. ❤

All these huge Casinos were and still are, built on the backs of losers. You are spot on Brantley. I commented on another one of these You tube slot channels ( I won’t mention names) as to why he only showed his wins. Surprisingly he replied, “ well the losses are boring to watch for my viewers”. Trust me, you can go to a Casino and lose 10 times in a row if you get on a losing streak, it can put you in a bad place if you’re not careful.👍

Biggest thing is that on social media, players 1) tend to post their big wins rather than their big losses 2) The Algorithm brings the big wins to the front because people enjoy watching them.
Also, slot channels are businesses and the gambling losses are just a necessary business expense.

He kept hitting retriggers, and bonuses. He cashed out with over $1400. It was not something we put bigger bets. Sometimes we win, and sometimes we really win!

Everyone that gambles should have a plan.
    1) take what you’re comfortable losing.
    2) when it’s gone you’re done.
    3) set a winning amount that you’ll stop at.
    4) if you win a nice amount walk away. Go buy something you want but don’t need.
Stick to a few of these and you’ll return home happy, entertained, and you’ll have a nice little goodie you wanted.
Keep to your ground rules. Then win or lose you’ll be proud of your restraint.
Definitely don’t drink over your normal amount at the casino. Rational will go out the window.
Personally I don’t drink anyway so I mainly keep to my own rules.

Like you said, I pretty much knew all of this, but I really liked how you broke it down to a simple explanation and it’s great advice to keep in mind! I’m heading to Vegas in a couple of days and this video came at a perfect time for me. Thank you! I guess I’m an entertainment gambler, but I have a strong desire to make a few bucks. I usually start with about $500 budget, but I’ve never had a jackpot and I usually win some at the beginning, but end up loosing it all before the trip is over. It’s like my luck just runs out after the first night.
I need to keep myself focused and only play “budget building” games for the first 2 days. And if I win some, only use my winnings on the last night.

the psychological effect is so real! My casino (Canadian) had some machines set to be a handpay at $500. After Covid- they changed those same bank of machines to handpay at $1000. Tons of people constantly say “these are so tight now, they lowered the rtp, there aren’t nearly as many jackpots on this game since covid etc” but it’s because they changed the handpay to double the amount as before!! 😹😹

It’s simple the more Moolah you have the better your chances are at hitting a jackpot. A higher bankroll always gives you a lot better chances than going to a casino with $20-50 . I will never go to any casino with less than $400 in freeplay and I always go with at least $500 of my own cash in case my free play burns quickly. Good luck everyone 🍀

As a passed professional gambler, I now play to win an amount rather than a Jackpot. Line hits give me far more profit than the occasional Jackpot because I don’t play for the Jackpot. 50 lines at maximum or multi ways plus bonuses give me a regular profit because I won’t give all the winnings back. I rarely play bigger denominations and if I do, it’s only 5 bets, then back to the 50 lines which then seem to be higher pays than average for a while. I realise that is probably a bias but doesn’t matter as I don’t rely on it. Great channel.

Yes luck is also involved. Thanks for all the good advice. Last year put 100$ played wicked wheel and won 270$ Put the 270 in a nearby Tripple Stars and cashed out $ 740. Played on that $ 740 dollars for the whole 7 days I was in Vegas. Put 200$ in a China Shores machine 2 days later and got full screen of bonus symbols! 375 free spins and won 1280$ jackpot and my first handpay ever. Also be observant too. Saw a guy putting a lot of money into a 5 dollar wheel of fortune he won nothing .
I went over and 3 spins later won $800. No spin just 7's and a double diamond line pay. Walked away. Really wanted to try for a spin but decided 755$ profit on 3 15$ spins was pretty decent.

I must acknowledge, I stopped playing slots for a specific reason, but then I watched videos of winners, which reminded me of the fun of winning, but I forgot how hard it felt to lose.

People say don't bet money you can't afford to lose, but I think psychologically there's more to it than that. I tell all of my students don't bet money that will make you angry or upset if you lose. Someone may be able to easily afford $1,000 loss but it'll make them upset when they do lose it and they end up still trying to chase it to get it back. Doyle brunson once said to be great at poker you have to develop a disdain for money. I don't think that's required to do casual gambling, but you have to develop an air of nonchalance when you lose the money that you bring with you otherwise you run the risk of getting an ulcer and chasing money and digging yourself a bigger hole.

This video is right on the money. I love watching the big spenders as I know that whilst they treat the money like confetti which they obviously can afford to do; I cannot. Sometimes I wonder why they appear to get so stuck on the demonation and bet amount or pokie (slot) machine. The videos I like watching the most are the players who play from start to finish and also give a running commentary on how much they're up or down as part of their pokie session. These players are more real to my way of thinking. What it also teaches me is what pokie machines to avoid like the plague - especially for a small budget.
One of my sayings is: "Be happy with the small wins as they sure add up over time". I can walk into a club sit down at a pokie machine and if I win, then cash out and go home. Sometimes less than five minutes at the club. Other times I gradually build up over time and then go home. Or and yes, like every other pokie player there are times that I lose either quickly or over time. I've learnt not to chase the Major or the Grand Jackpot. They will come in their own good time.

For example last month I was in Las Vegas and set myself to a budget of $400 dollars a day for three days. I wanted to try Cherries Jubilee $1 denom and actually won twice. I took my winnings and locked them up in the safe in the room and came home with my winnings. Enough to pay for my next trip to Las Vegas. I tend to be more comfortable on the $1 to .25 cent denom slots and I prefer the older three reel slots than the newer video/cartoon version. For the Indian casinos, my husband and I take money that we can afford to spend and/or lose, in addition to any free play given. If we come home with a win bigger than what we started with, those funds are placed back into our gambling fund for the next visit. If either one of us hits a jackpot (it's only happened once so far), then we take the payout and deposit in the bank to hold for any possible taxes that may occur. We have fun, but we are always thinking smart about the process.
On our bigger trips to Reno or Las Vegas, we carry larger amounts that we determine how much to spend for each day we are there. If our funds go quickly, then we slow things down a bit to extend the cash. If Reno or Vegas gets really greedy, we completely stop and go home the next day (we are within driving distance of both locations, living in Northern California). We don't mess around, as long as we continue to think of those adventures as entertainment, and any extra money we win is just THAT.😊 We enjoy the channel and the great info that should have people thinking about what gambling really is.

Also people watching the videos online need to remember this.... They rarely post the videos where they lose. The best watched videos are the ones where they WIN, so posting all the losses won't rack up the views they need. For every BIG win they post they probably lost the amount they won or more. That goes back to the categories, they're the "gambler" category and losing 5 or 10k isn't going to put them in financial trouble. I've seen folks at the casino sitting with their head in their hands after taking cash advances on their credit cards and going bust chasing a jackpot. Now the reality sets in they spent all their money and they're in trouble financially. I go with 500-1000 in pocket, and I say it like this "I won't take anything to the casino I'm not willing to toss out the window of a moving car" and I stand on that! I win a lot, but I also LOSE a lot. it's give and take, some days at the casino I walk out empty handed losing money and some days I walk out up a couple grand. If you're ok with leaving empty handed and it won't hurt you financially you're set. Good videos brother!

I've won & lost on many slots; history says I need to bail after 2-3 hours when I'm often well ahead. It's a discipline I seem to lack!

I am definitely an entertainment player. I go to my favorite casino almost every day. I have a strict max budget of $100, but usually never leave more than $40-$60 down. I see my friends that either work there, or are regulars like me. I always have fun, and I never have to sweat the money angle, because I stay within budget, always. BTW, in 14 years of going almost every day I have never hit a hand pay. Sure, it would be nice, but at my low bet levels it's almost out of the question (a high bet for me is $1.25 LOL). Although many times I will leave ahead, $40-$200, and once I did get an $1197.00 pay out on Wild Wild Nugget with a 50 cent bet. That was awesome!

I usually take $200, lose half and go home. Occasionally, 5 or 6 x’s a year I win big, no handpay but $500-1,000 😃 low rolling

One of the biggest factors for not winning at slot machines is the explosion of penny ones. Some of these games are really fun, you can win nice hits on them but to get big jackpots it takes higher bets. At the same time you can play less volatile machines with smaller bets which give you better odds of hitting a jackpot but seem boring anymore. Picking the right machine is the true key to winning jackpots and most people don't and that's what the casino is hoping for.

So I live in Texas. Closest casino to me is Winstar which is about 2.5 hours away so I don't play that often. But I do like to play bingo... And I win more than most. A lady walked up to me the other day and said, You win a lot! What's your secret? It's simple I told her... Spend more money.

Just got back from Vegas! Had a blast! Stayed downtown at the Downtown Grand. Found a nice 3 real 25 cent game with a $2 max bet. I cashed out for $300, $400, and $100 from that machine over a few days. Then we went to the MGM Grand for Cherries Jubilee. I started playing one credit. Then two. My friend told me to max bet it and the next pull I won the Jackpot! An attendant had to give me a handpay for $1005. I left Vegas with $700 more than when I left and a small tattoo with my best friend who got a matching little elephant tattoo on our ankles.

A local casino posts jackpot winners on Facebook and without fail there is one lady who constantly posts "oh, finally, they let one person win and it's not even that big." She posted this about a $39,000 jackpot where the lady was spinning at $12.50 a spin.
From her posts arguing with others, it was revealed she plays $20 in penny slots regularly and because she never hits a jackpot for thousands, she thinks the casino rigs the games illegally. She seems to think people can become millionaires off of any machine.

I laugh when these people think you’re going to hit jackpots with a $20 bankroll

I once sat next to a woman in AC complaining about watered down drinks…she was playing a 9 line penny machine for 9 cents a spin😂😂😂

My #1 rule and mind set is only gamble an amount that your willing to give away and not effect you in your monthly budget obligation (mortgage, food, bills). If you happened to win any amount stash it aside away from your original set gambling amount and walk away when done.
    Good luck to all..

I like the differentiation because it will help people evaluate why they are there my casino is definitely not good for bankroll building i use that casino to practice on the machines to get to another's for a bankroll build up but i am into the comps and entertainment 😊

#1. Money, you bring whatever you can afford to lose.
#2. Casinos (and gambling in general) are built using psychology. Lotto is the same, you spend $5 for the chance to win a million. although there is no guarantee unless you have every combination possible, which will provide you with a negative ROI. Horse racing is the same, you can bet on every horse in the race and still lose if every horse falls (highly unlikely but possible)
I'm an entertainment player, and love the math around gaming. I also love watching people with their various "Cannot lose" strategies (at tables...craps being a good one).

Very well said and love number 2. Psychology is overlooked by so many.
