The more skilled you get with music (or the more you think you know) the more you try to prove your skills to others unnecessarily. The best stuff keeps it simple like you said. Watching your process from start to finish shows how much more efficient keeping it simple is time wise as well. Kinda similar to how session musicians do one take the right way and keep it simple most of the time. Great advice bro keep it up!
I am a lady in my 60’s! I am a painter, I just recently started doing music production! I noticed, as a creative in general, I stay up late! I guess it’s just part of life! It’s a very bad for your health! Even though I am new at this music thing, I find that I am good at it! I am self taught, but I do have a mentor! My mentor is surprised at my accomplishments! I guess because of my age! I love it so much! I watch you now a lot! You inspire me!🫶🏾🫶🏾 I see the joy in your face as you are creating! I can relate! That’s why we probably stay up so late!😃🫶🏾
This is true I’ve been recording and producing music for a decade now it’s only been the past year or so I’ve been confident in what I’m doing. In my experience the best thing to do is to work really hard mastering your skills for 2-3 year and then put it all to practice as much as you can. Work with musicians and get feedback from others. The BIG game changer too is to use reference tracks listen to the volume, width, tone everything and if the song is similar to the one you’re working on then copy it. Try to get your mix to sound as close as possible and then you will start to learn how to mix and master properly. From a creative point of view just try stuff, reverse guitar parts, automate a massive reverb on a vocal for one powerful word. Work hard and experiment, don’t think too much about it and if it sounds good it sounds good. Sending love from Glasgow ❤
nah not me getting called out for my horrid sleep schedule in the first minute 😭 really preciate this vid man all of this arrangement stuff and learning how much space rappers want is definitely one of the more challenging things i've been teaching myself these last few months. even though we're in different subgenres entirely this is super helpful
I’m a simple man when Niles posts I click, thanks again… we will keep that mindset …. I’ll keep this in mind, simplicity is key, sound selection gotta be fire, give space for the artist to find their flow. Mastery comes down to the basics!
Bro, it's all simple, making a beat is like choosing color palettes for a website, it's supposed to be simple but it has to be the right colors that generate triggers... I'm in the process of understanding this and using it in the best way, thank you.
Absolutely agreed with you G. That's what to need understand as a first and main thing in my opinion. Thank you for giving us your knowledge and sharing your experience, especially mindset gems
Great video and delivery man thank you. I've been mad guilty of over-complicating stuff in the past and this is a great reminder to keep it simple and catchy with a great bounce. Much respect and big blessings!
Hi! The problem with the lighting is simple to fix, so you don't have any more issues in the future. The camera has an auto-exposure feature that you need to turn off. The only thing is that you have to set it yourself at the beginning but after you've done that, it won't change during the recording no matter what you do. You can put it in front of the light and it still won't change.
The great thinkers in the world were always up around 4am starting as the sun rises as they believed creativity is enhanced around the times before the sunrises
night shift are my shifts, I get inspired when it gets dark. Even when playing football, I would play way better in the evening games, because I had unlimited stamina. it's weird.
Im new to your channel but love these kind of video’s. Although I wish I could see some more of your screen. Looking forward to see your upcoming video’s 🤩
Yo, thx so much for the sauce bro! One question I have- Do you take that fruity limiter off your master channel and just replace it with the soft clipper?
Look man I'm in Afro tech producer and and I took your advice and I just got contacted by record label and this other producer and they like my music and I want me to release my music with them. do you think I should join the record label.
@Hushsoundz keep going bro don't give up on yo craft I'm finna truck the game up independently as SOON AS I GET MY PRIORITIES IN ORDER COMPLETELY. SALUTE
I Guess Simplicity only works for Trap Rap ect? Coz that would never fly in Reggae or Gospel Music ect.. Alotta Real MusicianShip Goes into Other Genres
With all due respect, I have to disagree. I've been playing bass in reggae bands for the past 3 decades, and it's complexity lies in it's simplicity. Case in point: Take Damian Marley's 'Welcome To Jamrock' riddim. That was one of the hardest reggae riddims to drop in the 2000's, and the whole bassline is just 4 notes. It doesn't get much simpler than that. If you're making reggae music that's complex, you're doing it wrong.
Right if u wanna get real creative u take that top layer and place it on another instrument then half time it I know some sauce too I’m just not main stream with it
