John, Great video. I have a Series 2 E type. In the process of doing an engine rebuild, I have removed the old steering rack. It didn't have any excessive play in the steering wheel so I didn't feel it necessary to replace it. I have just dissembled it for cleaning and new grease. What symptoms did you experience that caused you to replace your steering rack?
Hi John, in my case there was nothing wrong with the old steering rack that a basic cleaning and new grease would not have resolved. In fact, that was my original plan, just refurbish the old one. When I went to place my order the cost of all the parts that I wanted was not that much short of a new steering rack and the person I was ordering through pointed that out. I was able to get a good price on the new rack and so I decided to go that route instead. It was as simple as that.
