- In this video I begin as a single count in Italy and look to conquer enough land to take the Unify Italy using a character based on Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor and famous Stoic. I will also look to revive Hellenism, reform it and get the Rise from the Ashes CK3 achievement along the way! This is the first in a series where I will be looking to Restore Rome in each of the most recent Paradox Games. This video will be part 1 of my attempt in CK3.

I think this empire has at least 80 million power in rise of kingdom
Maybe I should get them to sponsor the channel 🤔
Lol

I traded in my girlfriend for 180 million power in Rise of Kingdoms.
I don't know why but this line made me laugh out loud: "this guy was an absolutely amazing emperor. He was possessed. And a witch. But he did rule Rome during a golden age"
Loved the video! Can't wait for the next part! :)
Average hellenist ruler -
@@knightspearhead5718can't spell hellenist without Hell, you gotta be a little heretical.
@d.n5287
Lmao, yeah hellenistic mythology is a wild thing 😅
I remember getting the achievement to reunite Rome in ck3 by playing the fallen eagle mod 💀
Loll
Lmao, only time I ever restore the Roman Empire is whenever I play the Roman Empire. Even if I'm wanting to conquer all of Africa, or do an Asian Focus for the game, I still go and retake Italy, Africa, and the rest of the Balkans.
@@KraNisOG
So you always take Ancient Rome's borders, and then you go from there?
@thalmoragent9344 Sometimes I take India first, but yeah.
I got the legendary renown achievement by trying the vtm mod
Fun chaos incarnate idea. Stay as a kingdom, join empires and immediately start a dissolution faction destroying them from the inside.
Liking this one!
I have been watching some of your videos for some time now, and most of your campaigns are very interesting, including the Last of Scotland, but restoring Rome is genuinely excellent, my friend. Please keep up the great work, and I wish you and your channel to get more likes and subscribers good fortune!
Thanks a bunch!
I would celebrate how well this video went but I abide by stoicism... Great video!

Such a good video as always, I'm just binging all your ck3 content hahaha

wow i just stumbled across this video and for 9000 subs i must say it can keep up with videos from bigger creators. Keep it up, I'm looking forward to the second episode of this journey :)
Thanks for this! Very appreciated
fun factioid: At your start date the king of italy has a daughter 2 daughters, one of which is a nun, and the other is heir. The heir is unmarried so if you gift the king of italy or sway him for long enough you can get a marriage and your heir will inherit the kingdom of italy.
Nice tip!
The Roman Empire existed in 867 and 1066
Yeah that dawned on me at one point (if you subscribe to the fact that byzantines are still a continuation of it) and I ended up mentioning it was a bit weird later on in the vid, but I guess this is more about the pre christian, united Rome
MellowScott finally forming Roman Empire and upholding the tradition of ck3 youtubers..... truly a sight to behold, I am sure your videos will become more mainstream to crusader king community.
Haha, I had so many requests for this plus it was one I've really wanted to do myself
I'm glad you mentioned the demographic decline of Rome as one of the culprits for its eventual downfall. More people should be aware of that (and compare it to modernity).
That and the lead lol..
Christianity has been around for thousands of years, remaining the dominant religion. Christianity may be a reason for the decline of the Empire, but there were many other major things that were also weighing the Empire down. Empires are doomed to fail eventually
@@fyougrembo6443 I never mentioned Christianity in my post

I would love to see a part or three of it for this campaign is fantastic, and I do have an exciting idea for a CK3 campaign if you're interested in hearing it out.
yeah share it, I always like seeing potential ideas
@@MellowScot How about a campaign around India where a Maharaja rules the Kingdom of Jhansi ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jhansi_State and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jhansi) unites the entire Indian subcontinent through diplomacy, making alliances and territorial expansion under the Newalkar Dynasty
( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newalkar, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rani_of_Jhansi, ruclips.net/video/eBw8SPPvGXQ/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/ei9IkGdcmPg/видео.html) and what made this campaign more interesting was forming an alliance with the Byzantine Emperor by having a political marriage, a Newalkar princess, and a Byzantine Prince heir to the imperial form, where India could reform the Roman Empire by forming a new dynasty in Constantiopble of having the Samraat ( Emperor) or Nahaaraanee ( Empress) becoming the ruler of Byzantium by helping the Byzantines against powerful enemies in the east and west.
A second of this campaign with India united is the conquest of the whole English Isles and form the Empire of Britannia, with the Samrat or Mahaaraanee moving his or her capital to London and was made the new ruler of all Britain and having the Emperor or Empress convert to Catholicism in order play safety and begins domestic issues and possible create the wealthiest nation in Europe. What would be more enjoyable than having India with a united Britain as the new capital to launch massive campaigns against the Vikings by conquering Scandvadina and invading most French lands with a combined might vast army along organizers, cannons, managers, skilled infantry, elite knights, and war elephants? Just imagine Europe being dominated by a new empire, becoming the new Romans under an imperial dynasty that even fared better than the Hapburgs or the Holy Roman Empire by making itself the true heir of Rome, Caesar, and Augustus.
Which scenarios do you like best for this campaign idea and why? And please tell me this is too much, and I don't mind this getting rejected, but worth a shot!
There’s some interesting ideas in here, I’ll probably lift some parts for a campaign. I do like the reverse British empire aspect which I’ve already been thinking about giving a go
@@MellowScot A reverse British Empire sounds exciting, but I'm bewildered.
Could you please tell me more about it? I'm very interested in this idea mixing with mine. But what would be very interesting about this campaign is to have the Samraat gain favor with the English nobilities ( along with Scotland) to lead a massive campaign to invade the Kingdom of France since the English kings used their own many territories in France than the French Kings themselves.
This campaign on conquering the entire Kingdom of France would be a medium but more beatable conquest since the British Isles were united by a foreign ruler from a foreign country and would be using a vast army of both English, Scottish, Irish knights and Indian warriors along with cannons, catapults, and armed cannon ships and the conquest of France would be easy is using war elephants crush anybody that stood in their way and been applicable against armored sworders with them riding horses that are the calvary.
The conquest of France is now the hands of Indo-Britannica; it would be possible to have the Samraat give some lands to English and Scottish nobility as a gesture of serving him and potentially have his children that are not from the line successions be given some titles and lands to rule to make better administrators. Please think of the example of the Ottoman Empire, where the Sultans had their sons be governors of the provinces to prevent civil war just because one son became the empire's sultan and ruled all the lands.
And had co-rulership with Britain and France, with the Maharaja of France able to rule his own realms while doing duties and domestic issues with the nobility but only sharing power with the Samraat of Britannica. With this conquest, France could lead this Britannica, a major dominant force to become the new Romans of Europe. What do you think of that idea for this idea campaign Mr. MellowScot? What do you think of a Maharaja of France?
Great video, keep up the good work

Dont forget to have a commander in your army + you can add feudal elective law to your main duchy, then vote for your heir and you will retain all of those counties instead of disinheriting your offspring.
Sometimes when they get killed off I forget
@@MellowScot yea that happens on 5 speed for me as well, I didnt notice that

Entertaining campaign! You lost a lot of rulers, for different reasons, but managed to form a solid realm in spite of that. I had one campaign where I lost 6 rulers in about a 30 years span. All of them were assassinated. Playing the Intrigue lifestyle can catch up with you, but the stories and interactions between rival houses make for more interesting story lines. Cheers!
Thanks a bunch! You have to be REALLY careful when getting assassinated. I’ve been game overed before where the family become too hated and have low intrigue, and then when defenseless kids inherirt it becomes a bloodbath
@@MellowScot That game I referred to was the only one where I changed characters. I had a Scandinavian Elective Title, and my heir was 13 y/o. Healthy ruler. High Intrigue. Dead. The desired heir had a kingdom. But the Empire was ruled by the previous character's assassin. I've had bloody campaigns. That tale of gaining back that Imperial title was up there!!

Said decline in birthrates was kinda compouded in army recruitment by the Senate and the aristocrats not letting Romans from Italy join the army a lot due to them wanting to keep labor cheap.
Thus, the Romans began recruiting from the less Romanized provinces like Gaul and integrating Germanic Auxiliae and Foederati

even tho its unrealistic i like to think if this happened that byzantium would just be like yeah they are the western roman empire especially since you're both orthodox.

How did the piety cost to reform to Hellenism go from 160000 to 16000? I’m trying to convert and it seem no matter what I do, I can’t reform directly to Hellenism. I know you can hope to an unreformed faith first but it is still hard to get the piety.

You don't need a mod to form Rome in Victoria 3, if you change government in any way in the Papal State, you either become Rome or the Roman Republic
Oh I’ll need to try this method out I think!
@@MellowScot Fair warning though, playing as an Insignificant Power is pretty painful, especially in Italy.
There is probably the option to emulate the East-West Split starting as Greece and releasing Rome, which might be easier, but I haven't tried that yet.
how did ya get that emebelim for ur rome so ya had the roman flag before u formed the empire

It's all music I added in myself
U need to do this in imperator!!!
I don’t own it 😭
If you go for the earlier start date you can get the t3 techs way earlier than normal. It becomes a rofl stomp after that.
Yeah this is true, if they uncapped it the AI wouldn’t cope I’m guessing (could be wrong)
@@MellowScot that's very likely why tech ages are capped by year, and if you focus on playing your holdings tall they definitely can't cope, they never have income parity with you (unless your main title is lower than king), their armies are never a match, and their lands are never as developped. The AI quite simply can't compete with competent human players at making better decisions.
try do this but with the fallen eagle mod
I’m looking forward to trying that one out
Really? Thank You so much! Here is this engaging CK3 idea campaign that makes it into a series.
A united India united by a Maharaja, now Samraat ( Emperor), unified all of India into one banner and expanded outside India, and set sights on conquering the British Isles, for he had a dream that he shall become the Emperor of both Brathra and Britons and move to London as his new capital to form a new dynasty. This is an inspiration from the video you made from The Last King of Scotland and inspiration from a video Snap Strategy did on a campaign with India conquer Scanvadniva only with war elephants. What would be very interesting and a plot twist is that the Emperor or, say, Samraat of Britannia married an English woman to strengthen the bloodline and convert to catholicism and make Britannina into the most formidable and wealthiest empire in Western Europe.
What do you think of that, Mr. MellowScot? A Great idea? Good idea? Or a Bad idea? Worth a shot and a challenge for you to do?

hoi4 is gonna be easy peasy
Really? I thought that would be a tougher one!
@@MellowScot HOI4 is really easy when it comes to beating AI. The challenge will be that you'll be spending a lot of time beating the Allies, then Axis. Join the Axis, justify on Yugo, beat France with Germany's help and annex France's fleet. You'll be able to gain naval supremacy in the English Channel and you'll be able to cap the UK very fast as they don't have that many troops on their mainland early. From there it's pretty easy to do a world conquer.
The gods wasnt the issue its the roman cult that was lost , hellenism wouldnt save rome , christianity banned idol worshio , rome worshiped the idiea of rome and its emperors which made people very loyal to rome but the church made people move that loyalty to god which made people less likely to suport the emperor gov and society
lmaaaaaaaaao
Since you based on real life, then the logic is when you attack Rome then All Christendom will attack you.
I actually got crusaded but that clip got corrupted and didn't make the final cut annoyingly a it was a pretty cool thing to see before the papacy got dismantled
hi
I wouldn't argue chritianity made Rome too soft, I would argue it made it too harsh.
They went from "our religion is best, but keep worshiping your inferior idols if you want" to "Christ is God, convert or else"
Sure, there was religious persecution before (as the christian themselves can attest) but it wasn't empire-wide legal persucution against every other religions.
there was persecution against the christians and other religions that only had 1 god because they tried to say that basically the roman empire was false, essentially 1 of the roman gods was pretty much the personification of the empire itself so the religions that only had 1 basically were quite treasonous in when they said that "nah y'all are a bunch of fakes" and other religions with more gods generally werent persecuted because to the romans their gods were just different versions of the roman ones. and to be fair most early european religions kinda originate from the same proto indo-european religion in which they were the same gods they just evolved to have different names and encompass more stuff n such so later on when for example the romans made contact with the germanic people they saw the similarities of the different gods and went "huh that is a different name but it sure as hell sounds like one of our gods so it's just the local name for that god then"
Knew that comment would prompt some good debate 😂
The combat AI is so dumb in this game.
This game is just too easy
