I do a lot of shielded metal arc welding I'm not a pipeline operator but I do a lot of mobile welding with basically the same kind of setup here in America in Ohio similar to what you do to heavy equipment but for farmers in all kinds of weather in the winter months I work for whatever shop will take me because I cannot stand the cold too much and when I'm indoors I'm running a wire welder just like the one you run it's not that brand it's a Miller or a Lincoln I would love to experience esab equipment but I have not ever gotten to run one of their wire welding machines I've ran a renegade 300 but that's a stick welder only piece of esab equipment I've ever ran so I am still curious how their wire machines run you make some awesome videos bud
Hey you're alive! Awesome! I've been a pipeliner - the pay's great but the pace sucks. You've gotta find someone whose version of breakneck speed is the same as yours, then do synchronized welding (should be an olympic sport). I've found a happy medium between that and what you do, on-site repair and fabrication. Still get to stick it up outside, the pace isn't frantic, the pay's pretty good, but the work is a bit intermittent sometimes.
🙌 saw a video you would appreciate from the lad at On Fire Welding putting a new 800 amp Miller through its paces - rebar in a stinger, now that’s a new one
Hi Alistair, great intro, got my attention. Miss YOUR fab/weld content, but hey.... we all have a life outside of RUclips . Hope business, family all ok My best regards MARK uk
Away back about 1969 I think, Cooke Bros bought a Taarup forage harvester from my family. I wonder does your dad remember? We had just started silage contracting at the time.
Great work as usual. I have been fortunate enough to land a job as a CAM programmer at a company here in Holland doing mainly large workpieces, it's been a great experience so far. Steep learning curve but loving every minute!
I'm 37 I started welding around 13 years old cousin and I used to help his uncle in his fields and he will bring his tractors and all to do our garden and all for us pretty much we traded labor so we can use his equipment for our garden one morning I walk down there he was building a root rake for his Massey Ferguson 135 and he asked me if I want to try it and I was hooked ever since 6010 Red rod I can smell that smell to this day and it brings me back to that day
I am a pipeliner/pipewelder but cut my teeth doing what you do as well as anything else metal. Pipeline and tank battery is the most bang for your buck. $100 an hour with your own rig. But not as rewarding as shop and fab work.
If you can't get fine speed adjustments on your rotator it is difficult to get the weld to look like you want it to. I know from experience how difficult it can be.
............................G'day Alistair, I have been wondering where your videos went. Mmm, still in storage; we can't watch them there mate. Cheers and God bless, Malcolm.
Hey up love the intro very artistic mate, just spotted your video and CCE there's will have to wait. Did you post the harland and wolf machine shop stuff you spoke about
Pipeline welding is a lot of fast passed busting ass. Pipe welding doesn't necessarily mean on a pipeline and is a bit more casual as no one is breathing down your neck waiting on you to advance so they can make their weld over yours. I always enjoyed powerplant and refinery welding that had fitters do the measurements, calculations and fitting.
trust me you wouldn't want to be a pipeline welder in uk, working in bottom of 15ft trench in mud welding with flame throwers! chhose a nice workshop any day!
You can get some pretty bad jobs working in the patch......biggest headache is mismanagement and the contractors that are subcontracting big jobs for a big company like Syncrude or Enbridge and they don't have stuff ready or expect miracles
Different to see pipe Mig welded. All the pipe laying videos it is stick. I used to build cold rooms. All the pipe was Tig welded. The ones you are welding aren't carrying liquid or gas. More for strength. With welds like that shouldn't go anywhere.
Nice to see your video again!
Need more of the large HEAVY jobs. Very interesting.
Being honest, I would prefer to see welding repair videos than tractor videos. So, more welding videos please young man!

Love your work mate. I especially appreciate the wealth of knowledge your Family has. More strength to you all.
Fantastic intro. I will happily watch any vidio you post. Tractors, welding, engineeing in no particular order. Thanks,
Been enjoying the tractor videos ... but love the welding/shop videos!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Welcome back buddy, nice to see you posting again, loving the new intro. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you and yours Alistair

I'll ask him! Where abouts?
Loughridge family between Ballymena and Ballymoney. I think the late Hunter Kane of Kane & McPherson probably set it up.
Brilliant videos btw!
Great video thanks for posting
Just a wee bit larger than your average 1/2” drive socket 😉. Time off to enjoy the summer🤣 well that accounts for two days.👍🏴

Interesting to watch and listen too 👨🏭
Great intro!!! Great music too!

Awesome welding.
Thanks for the videos.
Good to see you again, Allistair. You've been missed. It *did* cause me to find CEE Australia, so there was that. Hope all is going well with you.
Take a look at I C Weld, On Fire Welding, Welderfabber and Snowball Engineering. All top channels, very interesting and generally chunky jobs.
C&c equipment is good if you like machine repairs.
Great to see you back 👍
Great to see another welding video
Excellent, as always!
Well you gotta wear a pancake mask to weld pipe everyone knows that lol
Nice to see you back
Great work as always thanks!
love to see you back, thats cheating with rotator lol, try in situe with cellulistics !
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼
46 👍's up ALL123 thank you for sharing 🤗
You're fairly handy with the hot metal glue gun 👍

Clever rotating ground clamp. A bit simpler than Kurtis solution.
I have a few setups for that lol
............................G'day Alistair,

nice to see you're still at it cheers

OMG what a nice intro
Need more learning with the old man!

Not yet bud it's definitely in the to do list
@@allistairc123 Coolio mate, looking forward to seeing that blue doing the Massy this year so hoping your steering skills are at number 11
i remember when i was an apperentice every thing was stick welded
I assume ur pipeline rig would be a Dodge Cummins ?
Do you always push when using dualshield?
No dual shield here bud, usually neutral or drag
@@allistairc123 same here👍
