VBR isn’t so much dedicated to LA acts so much as California ones. Oh Sees are from San Francisco and Hot Snakes are from San Diego, for example. I think the idea behind adding a Canadian band was that Metz owes a lot to the music of Rick Froberg and John Reis of Drive Like Jehu/Hot Snakes.
