I miss the 70's
Thank you for watching!
I do too Hun.....I loved the music, food, prices, clothing.....
I don’t. I was in the military then.
ME TOO !!!
Ahhhh me too!
1970s ...What a great time to be alive. I thank God and my parents for making my life awesome in this great decade. Thank you ...
Thank you for watching Jose!
As a female you learn real fast DO NOT RUN WHILE WEARING A TUBE TOP!!!😂😂😂
Haha! Good advice! Thank you for watching and giving us a laugh!
depends on the cargo.
You learned to hold the top part. I had those and halter tops. Loved them. They even made jumpsuits as a connected tube top with shorts all in one piece . Mostly in Terry cloth. I had a blue one I wore a lot at home.
yep 😅 i remember
Yeah you got chased.
Oh, and don't forget the poncho! Every teacher and girl student seemed to have one in the early 70s in my grade school! Haha!
Yes, I wore a few ponchos in elementary school.
Or Junior High...😊
Thank you for watching and sharing another item for us to remember!
Also macreme vests
@@randallkoch6215 or if macrame failed you could use old pop tops like Terp! And dont forget the mary tyler moore shawl!
I LOVED the 70's!!! Bell-bottoms, muscle cars, crocheted vests, bangle bracelets, flowers in your hair, leather belts and purses, classic rock, disco music, 8-tracks, cassettes, skating rinks, jute woven wall hangings, braided plant hangers, hanging pendant lights, beaded curtains, black light posters, disco mirror balls, fondue pots, mood rings, 'knockers' to flip over and play with, platform shoes, hidden skate shoes (with wheels hidden in the base of the platform shoes)...drive in theaters,... what's not to like?!?!?
You've certainly mentioned some great items to remember. So much of that brings back some really great memories!
@@tmapes1989 watch it ... This is a family channel. Hahahahaha sorry, couldn't resist!
You like stupid stuff.
I know love all of this stuff. I was a small kid then with four older sisters that always looked awesome. There were some political problems then, it wasn't perfect, but still nothing like the horrors of today. People were happy and so nice, and nobody was afraid of anything really. It was a great time to be alive in the USA.
Or as I call it
...tuesday
70's was the best times of clothes, music and good people 💜
I still wear the shiny silky polyester shirts from the 70s.
Maybe good people.. but the clothes and music sucked
@@Helmuesi911 You don't know what you are talking about.
I live in the south, some people were good, some were not, but that was life, I was a teen and learned a lot…
I absolutely agree with u
I would go back to the 70s in a heartbeat and stay there, even knowing all I know now. I'm a 70s girl and always will be.
Polyester shirts from the 70s are nice.
Sixties for me!✌️
Love the 70s and 80s style but mostly 70s
Yes! 70's all the way, every day.
@@The70sGal-mf2xc Shiny silky polyester shirts from the 70s.I love them.
I'm so grateful for growing up in the 70's. Things were so much better back then- Clothes, food,tv, music,movies- We had it good.
People
Seems like every generation says that
@@lindak990 Yep, I remember my grandparents saying that about the 1930's but I never understood why.
@@lindak990 Yup and you will too.
Me born in 90s but really wish girls now days still rock curtain bangs/and long shag every girls from 70s are just beautiful!
What!! were we thinking. I was in my 20s in the seventies and now 70 in the 20s. It was a lot more fun but I see these fashions and have to laugh. Some cool, others not so much. Thank you Rhett for the trip, as it were, down memory lane.
You're welcome and thank you for watching. I think every decade has their what were we wearing? At least the 70s are well remembered by younger generations.
I think skinny jeans, and everything black or grey is more ridiculous. Even on thin people their thighs look like wrapped hams.
@@RhettyforHistory a lot of this happened because advances in polyester caused it to be more mainstream and perfect for holding patterning. However compared to polyester today it breathed like a plastic bag. Remember clothes get bigger as economies get smaller
They say 60s and 70s are the new 20s, LOL, wink.
@@scottjeune154 Along with widespread drug use among the so called artists and clothing designers.
I was a teen in the seventies. Some of the pictures of the younger people in the video look a lot like what many of my class mates used to look like. I wore maxi dresses, mini dresses, clogs and platform shoes and on and on. I even had a pair of black velvet hot pants that I would sometimes wear to the discos. There were some good memories there! 😀
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories in the 70s!
I turned 13 in 1974, so me too, lol.
Me too! Reminds me of school when they had smoking areas and it wasn’t against the law to smoke. I don’t smoke and was never a big smoker but you could feel “cool” if you wanted to. In the 9th grade, my brother had a rock band and they were playing a concert at school which was 9th and 10th grade. My other brother was in the jr high which was 7th and 8th. He wanted to hear the concert so my mom (yes. She could be cool!) wrote him a note to leave school for a dentist appt. But he got caught anyway! Lol! Then my brothers band dedicated the song “Smoking in the Boys’ Room” to the principal! It was an awesome time! The clothes were the coolest!!
@@ritadyer9295 The high school I went too, they didn't allow any smoking on campus at the time. Unfortunately, I was a regular smoker back then, so many of us used to huddle together and light up hoping school security wouldn't see us. I did get caught once and got suspended for one day. I quit smoking one year after I graduated and never went back. That's funny about your brother. Your mom sounds like my mom. 😄
@@tonycollazorappo Yup, that was some time to be a teenager. :)
70's was the best decade ever!!
Glad I grew up in the 70's
My FAVORITE shoes, which weren't mentioned, were "Kalso Earth Shoes"... I had about 10 different pairs, and even wore the burlap bag they were sold in as a purse! 😍
Thank you for watching and mentioning another popular fashion item!
@@RhettyforHistory 🥰🥰🥰
Oh wow, I had a pair of those as well. I enjoyed too.
I was looking for someone else to remember those!
Earth Shoes with red laces!
This video brings back some memories. I truly loved my childhood in the 70s. My father loved his bell bottoms a d my mother used to wear these clogs that made noise everywhere she went😄. What I loved most was the free spirit of that decade. People weren’t so stressed like today. Kids had more freedom. During the late 70s and the 80s I could leave with my bike in the morning and return in the evening and nobody worried. Nowadays children can’t even leave their driveway or their parents get frantic. Times have surely changed and not for the better.
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories of the 1970s!
Her shies may have been Dr. Scholl’s wooden sandals; they were very popular and known for the clop sound they made.
What happened that made it so bad today? curious really...

Me too! Out all day home when the street lights came on. So glad I grew up 60s/70s. So much fun. Great music too.
The 70's were awesome. I feel bless being born in 1951. A kid in the 50's, teen in the 60's and a young adult in the 70's. The perfect age for those decades. Wish life had a reset button.
Amen!!!!!
Right there with you…born in 1954😉
Sorry. Ugliest styles ever invented- EVER! Still, sad to say I’d take then to today…
You had it made. I was a 1963 baby. Would have wanted to be old enough to go to a sock hop and wear a poodle skirt. My mom was born in 42. 40s sounded cool for kids to go barefoot all day and run around everywhere in the countryside. Down to the creek etc. But you may have had the best.
And yes to reset. Wish it could be like that and we could know what we know now. We would have had tons of fun , planned for our future and taken better care of ourselves as far as food goes. And I never would have stopped riding my bike nor started smoking to look cool . I quit though in 99.
I remember having a pair of bell bottom jeans in the 70's that were made out of denim squares that were stitched together. They were my favorites.
That style was very popular! Thank you for watching and sharing what you had.
Patchwork bellbottoms: patchwork became *very popular in the mid-70s; one could even get printed fabrics that looked like patchwork. You could see dresses and tops made of patchwork fabric, skirts too.
Yep and then they sewed a straight line down the front of a hair's width of the denim to make a ridge. Those were my fave. They started sewing various patterns that way. Then came Jordache' and Chic in 79 and the 80s. That was my slow rebellious transition away from bell bottoms.
I had some too! I paid 20$ on my mom’s credit card and thought she was gonna kill me 😂
I graduated from high school in 1979. I remember bean bag chairs, pet rocks, mood rings, black light posters, 8 track tapes and shag carpet. 😊
I graduated in '77, my brother in '78 and my sister in '79 - we had all of these. My brother put a rock from our yard in a box for me that he decorated because why spend the money for the real one. Lol
Best of times. My siblings and I reminisce often about those days. ❤
@@itsdiane2you11 I graduated in 77. I sorta miss shag carpet.
@brent. I too graduated from high school the same year as you. I as a male in the 1970's had hair over my ears just like a good portion of my peers.
I grew up in the 70s! I love the 70s! I still have bohemian fashion I wear today! ❤✌❤
Iam still bohemian gal! 67yrs old....70s the best!
Same - graduated in '77...my sister and I are bohemian to the core. ✌
For those of us who grew up in colder climates, a must-have was a maxi coat for winter. Down to your feet, solid color wool, black or navy, double breasted with contrasting buttons. You ore them with matching bulky knit hat, scarf, and gloves. I was so proud when I finally talked my mom into buying one. She said it made me look like a war refugee from Europe.
😂 regarding your last sentence. :)
I agree about maxi coats in the colder climates...but not when the snow finally melted.
I had a patchwork rabbit fur one. 32 degrees out and 5 minutes in that coat and you broke a sweat. Plus it shed everywhere. I quit wearing it after about 4 tries or so. Tired of spitting hair.
Yes! Those came out when I was in fourth grade and I had to wait until 7th grade to get mine. My mother was still dressing me like Jackie Kennedy in 1970 and I used to sneak cool clothes I was only allowed to wear around the house, in my book bag and change in the bathroom at school!😂
You forgot the designer jean. I had Jordache jeans and Gloria Vanderbilts in the late 70s. Before designer jeans, all we had for blue jeans were the 5 pocket Levi’s and Wranglers. I can still see my Jordache jeans. They were a staple in my wardrobe and looked good with my Candies and my clogs. 😉
Painter pants, 'earth shoes' and turtle necks were my middle school 'uniform'. Paisley polyester wide collar button ups were a big hit with the super cool dudes. I remember a cousin visiting us in mid 1970s and she was desperate to find slim ankle jeans. Boot cut was narrow as we could find which was a no go for her. Definitely rebellion against bell bottoms. Along with the very short shorts for running (brothers wore them) were white with top stripe knee high tube socks. You mentioned that in another video. Pant suits were popular for little girls too.
Thank you for watching and mentioning some more fashions for us to remember.
Straight leg Levi’s became the thing in ‘72. There were still Palazzo Pants & such but for jeans Levi’s were it.
I loved my earth shoes! My favorite bell bottoms had at least 4 snaps
Painter pants were huge at my school around 1977.
I absolutely loved painters pants!! Wore them with spaghetti strap tank tops.
Those were the days my friends we thought they'd never end. But they did, and how.
Who ever thought we would miss the 70s!?
Who knew but a bunch of us do now. Thank you for watching!
The fashions, not so much.
The girls aways looked great, but I remember listening to alot of 60s music and I loved 60s GM cars. I later thought to my self that 70s period was a drag. But now I'm 62 and I have alot good memories of that time in my life. Monty Python flying circus really helped out alot. 😊
1970’s was the best time in my life. That time I was young teenager.
As a kid in the 70s, I loved STAR WARS t-shirts, jeans with holes in the knees, and tennis shoes that made me run really fast. 😃
Thank you for watching and also for sharing some of your memories!
I saw Star Wars when it first came out, 1977, I was 16 and saw it twice with 2 different friends on the same day, LOL!
Wrap dresses are classic, figure flattering and timeless 👌🏾
The bigger the bell bottom jeans, the better. By the way, platform shoes are back, so are wrap dresses and flare leg pants. I should have waited til the end to write my comment, but shearling jackets and black leather jackets are also very much on trend.
Absolutely! My daughters have been wearing all of those which really seems weird to see those again. Thank you for watching!
Happened in the late 90s/early 00s, too.
I loved my hip hugger super big bell Levi’s and platform shoes. I had a really cool blue velvet coat with fake fur and a colorful embroidered belt.
Now the look is called “Boho chic”.
@@katie7748 You are correct.
Bell bottoms, platform shoes and seventies fashion has made a comeback at least once already. But in the seventies those styles were unisex, and when they came back it was only as female fashion
I wore a leisure suit to a wedding in 1975. I was the only guest wearing one, that's how new the style was. A few years later, I wore it to another wedding, I was the only guest wearing one, that's how out they were.
It's interesting to think about how quickly they came in and out. Thank you for watching and sharing what you had.
A brown leisure suit was my husband's "going away" outfit and he looked so handsome in it!!! 1975!
I grew up in the 60s and 70s. What I wouldn’t give to go back.
Boy, do I agree with that!!!!!🤔🤔
Me too..
My God, everybody looked so fit back then!!! The hair, the jewelry, bell bottoms, large collared shirts, the bandanas, the hoop earrings, roller skating. Wow!!!!
This makes me long for my long lost youth and the seventies. I wish I could go back in time and also just be young again. Sadly you can only be young once.
That is true. Thank you for watching Jen!
It’s ok. I don’t want to go back. I’m still learning. And think of all of if the things you have been through, I’m only assuming, and think of all of the things that these young people are going to face.
I was born in 1970, and I remember possessing some corduroy trousers!! I've also had a mood ring, and I still love wearing bangles!!
Thanks for bringing back happy memories, Rhett!! XXXX ❤👍💗💍👖
You're welcome and thank you for watching and sharing some of what you had!
My son is 26 & still looks for corduroys. Wide whale & Levi’s
I also had corduroy trousers but I really hated those!
@@Benjorunner i still rock platforms, moodrings, lomg hair, kaftans, headbands n big headphones. My video collection is old donny n marrie shows, superfriends, norman lear, and don kirschner. I was a young teenager then. Most of the trends I didn't have but I do remember a lot of them. This was a fun look back.
Thank you for watching Kimberleyanne!
Well, let me think. Graduated high school in 75 and college in 79. Yep, I remember all of this.
Thank you for watching Jerry!
Uh huh....🤭
So do I. I graduated high school in 1979 and remembered all of these in the Sears catalogs. I ordered a lot of their Junior Bazaar clothes.
@@dawndellarocco2362 Yes! Sears and Junior Bazaar!😊
1965-75 colours were so vibrant. My fav fashion era for variety in clothes shoes accessories. Majority looked chic sophisticated. I love the tv series That Girl as one example for 'groovy' fashion!
That Girl had some beautiful clothes. And so gorgeous!! But how did her starving artist character afford them?
Corduroy was great! Also popular shoes were Earth Shoes and Frye Boots.
Best comment yet. Cordaroy pants and urathane wherles
We loved our low cut bell bottoms= " hip huggers! Also Peas coats= Navy issue dark blue double breasted jackets with side pockets and buttons with and anchor !💝 I was living in. San Francisco so I got to see it all!
I bought my denim and corduroy jeans at The GAP. Back then they only sold Levi's labeled clothes.
Most of us had "desert boots", gum soled swede leather with laces.
And on top usually a cool T-shirt (many times from a T-shirt shop with an iron-on picture on it) under an unbuttoned flannel shirt, sleeves rolled up to elbow.
For a while we wore leather belt buckles with a nature picture painted on them.
To all my fellow old farts out there...Keep on Truckin' !
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories of fashion during the decade!
I loved picking out a t-shirt and patch to have pressed on. I had a glitter Mystery Machine and Scooby Doo one that I loved. They should bring those back.
I remember wearing the t-shirts with an open flannel or other button down shirt quite a bit.
My dad had Desert Boots. But moved on to Wallabees.
I grew up in late 60's and 70's. ❤️❤️❤️ both eras and the clothes. People diss the 70's and I don't know why. They were fun❤️😁👍. I'd like to turn back time. Thank you so much for great memories.
I was a kid in the 70s and had many tube and halter tops. I also had a few tube top sundresses. I don't think I could have gotten through the hot summers without them. I also had clogs and the mood ring. That picture of Linda Carter in the wrap dress...she is so beautiful!
Yes she is. Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories and items you used to have.
I totally agree!! I was fortunate enough to be born into August of 1970& I have nothing but wonderful memories & absolutely love & miss the music& the fashionable outfits! My Mom always made sure I was dressed very well & kept me up with the trends...even as a kid....like I had any clue what was up with popular looks then!😄.. but looking back I'm very grateful she made the effort & cared if I looked nice. The clothes were fun in the 70's! Great music too! Nothing better to hear songs from back then.... Ambrosia, Heart, Atlanta Rythym Section, Firefall, Styx,Pablo Cruise, Little River Band, Diana Ross, Guess Who, Eagles, Elton John! Too many to count! Great childhood experiences & memories 😇. God Bless us, Everyone!!🙏
I'm in my 60s and still wear bell bottom jeans and other fashions from my good days!!!
Going through old catalogs online reminds me of how prevalent plaid was, especially plaid pants which apparently was required fashion if you were a kid.
It was certainly popular. Thank you for watching!
I had a pair of plaid trousers I wore until they almost fell apart.
Oh, yeah! You just brought back the memory of my plaid corduroy bell bottoms. 😆
Clothes back then were made so much better than they are today you could keep them for decades, and they still would look great.
I think you added some pics from late 60's and early 80's. 60's and 70's (and 80's) were great time with great music. Before cellphones and socialmedia people and life were better and happier in so many ways.
I had clogs, halter tops and tube tops. Another shirt that was popular was a shortsleeve blouse with a tie in the back. I had bellbottoms, but mine always dragged the floor because I was so short. That’s why platform shoes were so popular-they kept the bellbottoms from touching the floor.
Exactly. But it was also cool to have ragged bottoms in the back. We went to men's Levi's so we could get the right length and waist size. Then sew them tight to above the knee. Then lay on the bed to zip them. They had to be skin tight lol.
Loved the 70’s, I wore most of these trends, especially loved the bell bottoms. ❤
I miss catalogues!! Ours always had dog eared pages within a week. Especially enjoyed the Christmas ones.
What is really noticeable compared to today is how most everyone was in shape.
I was a kid in the 70's (13 in 79'), there were 3 overweight kids in my middle school, hundreds of kids and only 3 overweight and they weren't even THAT overweight.
Yes and no. I definitely remember seeing chubby kids in polyester pants.
A lot of these pics are of models and celebrities. There were plenty of overweight people in the 1970's.
We were thinner, and probably more active by nature. People didn't start really working out until the 80s. People began gaining a lot of weight because of high fructose corn syrup and other additives, and becoming more sedentary .
So true. Today everyone is fat
I got mad at my mom in the 90s for not keeping her clothes from 70s to give me to wear. The pics are amazing though
I am in my 70's and still have my favorite clogs. I still wear them.
That's really great that you not only still have them but wear them too! I know a lot of people said they were uncomfortable. Thank you for watching Linda!
I was born in 1974. I guess that's why I love the 70s so much. I think it would be cool to own some of those clothes. I hope the 70s come back in fashion. My eyes thank you.
I loved everything about the 70s! I loved corduroy pants/skirts, tie-dye shirts, bell bottoms, etc. I seem to remember overalls being popular then also, but maybe that just depended on where you lived. I had the same orange Sunkist shirt that’s on the thumbnail! I wasn’t a fan of jumpsuits because they were hard to get out of to go to the bathroom! I had medium sized platform shoes….not the huge ones the bands and models wore, and I did have a pair of clogs that I loved. Thanks for the memories!
You're welcome. Thank you for watching and sharing some of what you had. Overalls were definitely a thing and they had the flared legs as well. I could definitely see how the jumpsuit would be an issue in a stall.
The BEST time to grow up!! If they didn’t sell bell bottom jeans wide enough at the bottom, we cut the fabric from the bottom to the knee and inserted a triangle shape of an accent color.
Best music, no cell phone distraction, no internet. Just good ole FUN!! ❤❤
I grew up in the 70's and we wore all of these fashions. One thing I didn't see here is Earth Shoes. In the 70's you just weren't hip unless you had a few pairs of Earth Shoes for those times you needed a break from platforms and gogo boots. 😀👍
Miss the thin 70s....and embraced almost every single bit of fashion shown here! OMG! What a ride thru my teens.
I was a teenager in '70s and I loved my bell bottom jeans that id add material to the bottom for bigger flare, loved my tube tops and just all my cool clothes, thank you!!! I miss those times!
My sister and I also embroidered our jeans. (We still do.)
OMG those leisure suits and hang glider winged collars. SO glad they went away.
My mom, myself and my sister, had all of these items (except for the sheerling jacket) Thanks for the memories Rhetty 👍❤️
You're welcome and thank you for watching Wendy!
I found a shearling jacket in a thrift store for 8 bucks about 3 years ago. Bought it! 😁
Ahh yes, some of my childhood fashion. 🧡I was always curious as to how fashion trends started. I guess fashion designers around the east and west coasts would see what the kids were wearing at club scenes which gave them ideas for trends. I miss the ol' tube top. Thanks, Rhetty. Always enjoyable to watch. 😊
You're welcome and thank you for watching Vicki! I do think that many trends come from someone or some people wearing it in certain areas.
Thank you, I lived in NYC in the late 60's/and 70's this was the fashion fads back then. I'm still wanting to find another fringe leather coat to this day!
Hip huggers, sizzler (micro-mini) dresses, granny (floor-length, ruffled collar, hems and cuffs) dresses, midi coats and skirts, white painters pants, halter tops (w/no bra), metalic skinny belts and glittered socks (David Bowie inspired), "choker" necklaces, pukka necklaces, colored hair yarn (used to tie up the top "pony" in order to get the Karen Valentine, Room 222 "look"), chukka boots, short furry jackets (to be worn with mini-skirts or bell bottoms), Dr. Scholls sandals, fringe "everything"...
You brought up some other good fashions to remember. Thank you for watching and mentioning them!
I still use suede fringe purses (a younger friend teases me about my love of fringe - my favorite Harley Davidson jacket has fringe) and I have my puka shell necklace still but don't wear it. I miss the '70s.
I believe I wore most of this
I still have my platform shoes. Didn't wear them too much back in the day. Not very comfortable and hard to walk in. 😂
They are definitely more for fashion than for comfort. Thank you for watching and telling us what you still have!

Embroidered names on cotton zip up jackets and block letter iron on shirts are two fashion trends I remember that don't seem to get mentioned on 70s fashion lists.

I remember my plaid, corduroy, bell-bottom slacks with the iron-on patches on the knees. They were like triple hand-me-downs as I was the youngest and I paired them with my goldenrod, deep V-neck, sleeveless, wool vest over my tomato colored, long-sleeved turtleneck shirt. It's no wonder I got in so many fights. :)
I had hand me downs as well. Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories!
I think I have bell-bottom anxiety, I always thought they were weird and now a days I can't even wear straight leg pants 🤣 Great stuff Rhetty👍💙🏴

Embroidery made a ghetto-fabulous comeback in the 00's through Hip Hop brands like Fubu, Rocawear, True Religion, Apple Bottom, Juicy Couture, Imperious, Coogi and Ed Hardy. The 00's was *VERY* retro 60's & 70's and those of us who were children in the 00's barely gave it any thought. History repeats itself in subtle ways and we realize this as we get older.
Also, K Pop is the modern-day equivalent of the 1960's British Invasion and the Late 90's/Early 00's Pop scene. BTS is the new Beatles & NSYNC and Jungkook is the new Michael Jackson. BTS also has a music video where they wear all white in a white room like the Backstreet Boys on the Millennium album.
Who remembers the blue with white stripes Starskey Adidas? I wanted a pair of those! They were so popular at the time, but it was hard to find them in kids sizes.
Those were really popular! Thank you for watching!
🎉groovey greetings from coastal Mississippi. As a child and teenager of the 70's, l loved bell bottoms. I remember and had a lot of these fashions. I still wear some of these😂
I graduated from high school in 1973...the midi skirts, to the middle of the calf, were very popular, the guys always wore jeans,,,t-shirts, some times regular shirts. In the 60s,,go-go boots were ankle high and they weren't called go-go boots [n the 70s. we wore mostly leather platforms and sandles... the glitter was more disco style in the mid- late 70s! It was a crazy time to be young, but fun!!
The 70's had the greatest fashions. But we lost our way somewhere since then. 😕
Thank you for watching!
I would go back in an instant. Bell bottoms were my wardrobe when they got a hole I would patch it, I loved my jeans so much!
Clogs came back in the '90s and early 2000s. I always loved those shoes.
They do keep coming back every so often. Thank you for watching!
I was a little kid in the 1970s. I remember all of this stuff.
Oh how I remember GOGO Boots. I put on a pair of my moms when I was 12 and promptly fell down the steps and broke my arm. Sweet 70’s!
Ouch! Did you ever wear any after that? Thank you for watching and sharing a memory with us!
I loved watching this, it brought back so many memories of my childhood.
Loved my go-go boots and fringed jacket. So cool 😎
Thank you for watching and sharing a little of what you had!
Gunne Sax dresses, Famolare shoes -- they're back!, crocheted Granny Square vests, culotte skirt and vest sets, peasant blouses, and the list goes on. All of these were in my wardrobe. Oh, one of the best things about the 70s was in 9th grade (1973/74) when the expat German teacher introduced the whole school to Black Forest Gummie Bears! It wasn't until the mid 80s they showed up in stores in the Seattle area.
I had bellbottoms late 60s into the seventies, I was born in 1961. I wore leisure suites in the as an adolescent and corduroy pants later in the 70s in Hight School. I think I wore my first jeans after High School and in college when I was 18, lol. I truly enjoyed growing up in the 60s and 70s, and of course some of the 80s "Disco!" LOL!
I've mentioned this elsewhere but the 1970s had the absolutely worse fashion and materials BUT it was an enormously BRAVE decade for fashion. I have nothing but the highest respect for this "What the heck, let's go for it" trend in fashion. Synthetic material didn't breath and was uncomfortable to wear but darned if they didn't wrinkle. Once again, an excellent video and addition to your channel.
Some of those silk and polyester items were pretty breathable but corduroys were certainly not. Thank you for watching!
@@RhettyforHistory Corduroys were O.K. in cooler weather.
Good Morning nostalgia buffs..one of my favorite channels
Good morning and thank you for watching!
I was born in ‘79. I wore mood rings in the early ‘90s when they came around again. I probably still have one laying around and would wear one today. My best friend growing up and I would drive almost downtown to shop at the vintage and hippie stores here in Atlanta like The Junkman’s Daughter. There’s even a drive-in movie theater with a flea market near there.
I still love clogs & Birkenstocks. I wear tie-dye and peasant & crocheted blouses all the time. They’re just more flattering with my body type and height. I wish more companies would make 70s style lingerie still. Everything has so much wire and padding now.
I remember growing my bangs out so I could part my hair in the middle and I’ve kept that style. I guess I decided on the hippie look around age 14 and stuck with it.
Thank you for watching and sharing some of the fashions that you adorned. It sounds like you were born in the wrong time period.
As a teen I loved my tube tops, clogs and cords! Simple life and great music!
I was in middle school in the 70s but I remember these fashions. My older brother and his friends wore crushed velvet bow ties and Qiana (faux silk) shirts when they needed to dress up. I loved my bell bottom jeans and loved how they got all ragged after getting dragged on the ground.
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories! I loved wearing bow ties in the 70s. now I can't believe I did that.
Yes! Thd bottoms of the bells were always chewed up!
My brother had a short sleeve peach coral Qiana silk shirt. I had a pair of black bellbottoms with all over yellow and white sunflowers when I was 10 or 11 back in 1970 71.
Those were the days! Thank you.
Thank you for watching Ron!
I grew up threw the 70's
good time back then.
If I had a time machine I'd go back and visit..
✌️🤪
Those last three wrap dresses I'd put on TODAY! 😂
Thank you for watching!
I loved the 70s ✌️👍
Thank you for watching!
No butt cracks. No huge gut flopping over belts. People made an effort to look nice. Good times.
I don’t know how many times I tripped myself by getting my foot caught in those bell bottoms. I recently bought a pair of pajamas that ended up having bell bottom-ish pants. I still trip myself. lol
Halter tops, clogs, and maxi-dresses. 💕 I’ve never owned a caftan, but I still think they’re gorgeous.
I loved when my aunt would have a dinner at her house. She always wore her white nylon blouse with the puffy sleeves paired with her long, colorful skirt. This was her “hostess dress.”
I worked at a department store in the 1970s during the summers in college and sold Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dresses! They were too expensive for me to afford one with minimum wage being under $2.00 an hour at the time. Another summer, I worked in the men's department and sold Leisure Suits! My friends and I referred to them as "Loser Suits," though. LOL. Those polyester double-knit suits were for older men and not college guys. Otherwise, I believe I wore probably every 70's fashion that you showed (except for the leather and studs) at one time including hot pants and mini skirts in high school. They allowed those, but not pants or jeans for girls. So weird!
That is strange that they allowed the hot pants and mini skirts but not pants or jeans. Seems like they didn't think that through very well. I do remember some kids having leisure suits but not many. Thank you for watching and sharing a little of what you had and where you worked.
Ha!!! 😂 Having lived through the 70’s fashions I really hope it’s never new again.
Funny thing is I have had daughters wearing some of these items which seems strange to see it again. Thank you for watching Paul!
Hi 🤗 Paul. Hope you are still doing well since the last time we talked (typed) 😂
The fashion was bad, but like I said to Rhett: If wearing that again meant being back in the 70s I’d wear those hideous clothes in heartbeat. I grew up as a kid in 70s and I sure do miss it.
@@swansfan6944 Hi Jodie nice hearing from you. You know what I agree with you. The majority of the fashions, clothing and home decor, were terrible but I would gladly wear the platform shoes and bell bottom pants if I could go back to when I was that age. Ha!!! Hope you and your family are doing well. Take care look forward to hearing from you next time. 😁👋
Amazing, beautiful. Memories from Brazil.
In this worrying world, I'm going back to my early childhood fashion. The born in the 70s, grew up in the 80s and raved in the 90s Gal and I just bough some Swedish clogs. They're so comfy and I wore them as a child for 3 seasons out of 4, well we have snow in Sweden lol
