There is also a video about them that also describe their distribution. The essay of that video implies that at some point, they might have all once lived on one mountain but due to erosion or volcanic activity/rift, they became separate overtime. Though as you pointed out, that group has been reclassified and no longer Brookesia. ...I cannot find that video, like Google, searching on RUclips now is a hit or miss. Those that appear are just 1 to 5 mins long instead.
