I also believe this is technically the first single for her next album Era which will be leaving even further into the dark metal side of the Poppy-verse. Poppy was always intended to become a hardcore artist, but still cutsie kind of like a even more bi-polar Babymetal. The main reason being Poppy herself is going to this sound is because she was always a fan of metal and she disliked doing the super basic soulless pop music. From the beginning Poppy was always going to get progressively darker and weirder.
I really adore that she's blazing unapologetically into a style she loves despite the sourpuss metal "purists" or whatever. I think they forget metal was founded on breaking out of the rock formulas and becoming more progressive. Except it became its own formula, and now Poppy (and others) are breaking out of those with some really cool stuff.
Oh i loved this reaction and also wished to see Poppy's spike dress. Her hair in that shot is amazing. And also have you heard her bubblebath EP. It would be a great throwback
