    I wouldn't send an email since no one would really care, if anything they would be happy. In the cases where other people have sent emails, no one noticed or cared that the person was leaving. It's easy to find out anyway since new hires and resignations are posted on the meeting minutes anyway so anyone can have a look, if someone really wants to know more about where I'm going then they can ask in person. If they truly care to know, then they will make the effort to find out but otherwise I wouldn't bother telling anyone.

    If you leave a toxic workplace,
    1) chances are you have not made real friends over there anyway, because it's a toxic workplace, so people you would actually like have likely left already,
    2) my advice is to lie in the goodbye email, it's simply the best thing you can do because anything with a subtle message your BPD boss, but also maybe your emotionally experienced coworkers will notice, which will just create more drama etc. You don't want any of that, you got nothing to win for telling the truth, which is the case in sooo many situations in life

    • @asadb1990
      @asadb1990 3 года назад +5

      exactly trick is to lie and say you loved working their. and even if they offer more money, walk away. and its best to not say where you are going

    • @JenniferBrick
      @JenniferBrick  3 года назад +3

      I agree with you on most point here. Its going to serve no purpose to include an ill will or jabs in this this message.
      Using a generic template, "Today is my last day. I've learned so much here, and wish each of you the best." does the trick. Don't be inauthentic though... but the lessons may be how to stay away from a toxic coworker, deal with politics, etc.

    • @asadb1990

      @@JenniferBrick yeah sure. but i feel its best to not say anything bad or negative even if perceived by them. because the minute you hand in resignation to boss, they have started wiping you off their memory. and depending on how they react after resignation shows how they think of you. if they thought a lot, they will try and spend some time with you. if they couldn't stand you, they will walk you out that minute or day or treat you like an outsider.

      @@asadb1990 what your describing is definitely not uncommon in a toxic environment (excuse the double negative).

      @@JenniferBrick i have even been advised to not really attend an exit interview except for a last lunch on the company's dime. but overall i haven't found one company that can take true criticism.

    After you leave every email in your work account will be read by your manager! I worked in HR and in every company the manager went straight to the departing employees account to read every email sent.

    Actually had the opposite happen on Monday this week - a respected coworker in sales is leaving. Any advice on what to say to them (well wishes, etc.)? We were friendly and respectful with each other, but not necessarily friends outside of work.

    Anything wrong with NOT sending out a mass good bye email when I already talked directly to the people I wanna keep in touch with, and my out of office email clearly states my last day with the company and whom can be contacted in my place?

    • @TheWordN3rd
      @TheWordN3rd Год назад +1

      I am also wondering this. I have a couple of people I am letting know personally, but I don’t need to tell everyone. The email is going to stay the same and there isn’t a replacement for my position just yet.

  • @angelloro
    @angelloro 3 года назад +1

    I am not the type of person to do this, tbh. I’ll just leave and let HR and close coworkers that I am leaving, but that’s it. Is this wrong? I feel like writing an email seems fake and not completely honest, at least if it comes from me. I am just not that type of person, I guess.

    • @reminiscer15
      @reminiscer15 2 года назад

      I totally agree, most mass goodbye emails are fake and not very honest. Also most people really don't care, if someone truly cares then they can ask me in person. When I randomly take a day off without saying anything to someone and return the day after my sick day, they don't bother to ask where I was or even notice so me leaving wouldn't be any different. People send mass emails out of obligation or in some cases it's because people will need to know who will be taking the position if necessary, otherwise no one really needs to know and no one even cares anyway.
