  • Hey y'all, welcome to my (most recent) 1st video on RUclips land! I truly appreciate you stopping in to check it out, even if only for a quick glance.
    Today I'm just showing you krazy kids what I think are the best couple of locations for your home bases in Abiotic Factor. Obviously, this is all relative, and you should play how you see fit. That's what makes games like this so awesome. But, IMHO, these base spots are the shizzle. Fo rizzle.
    I know it's a lot to ask, but if you enjoyed this video in any way (or hated it, I'm not picky), leave a like/comment/subscribe to help me out! I'm a noob at this content creation stuff, but I'm an OG who's been gaming for many decades. The more interactions I get, the more I'll post fresh content. Ask any questions you want and I promise I'll respond. Very few followers and plenty of time are on my side....for now.
    Thank you and I hope you enjoy the vid!

    the literal best place is the Security Checkpoint on lvl 2. I dont know why others dont mention it, or choose to ignore it. It has nearby water, is right next to Maintenance entrance, lockable doors, bathroom, insane natural storage, recharging station, coffee machine, stupid amounts of floor space, only one entrance to defend (2 tesla turrets and 6 cem walls and ur good to afk defend), sockets in every corner of the place, as well as a sec bot spawn outside to deal with entities/farm. crazy good and nothing in the current game comes close.

    One of the best places I've found is the lobby area right near the elevator to Silo 3. It has a lot of room, it has several entrances, and it has relatively easy access to every place in the game once you unlock them all. It also isn't far from the tram station. Enemies only really come from one direction; from the data farm, so it's easy to set up some adequate defenses to counter that. It's a really good spot for a base that I don't really hear anyone talking about.

    The best place I’ve found is right in that starting area to the left of the tram with the boarded up tunnel and glass room. It’s close to the tram and several different directions you can go and is extremely centralized. It has lots of room, plugs, only one real direction where enemies come from so you can set up defenses easily and once you open the door you have a little garage area too where you can pull the car out

  • @div6919

    I was considering setting down a permanent base now that i've explored the labs a bit, the location near the aquarium was my top choice as well. Currently I'm set up in the area right above the blacksmith in manufacturing west, also really close to the tram station, as far as defenses go it's great, enemies can't access through the vent, and i don't think humanoids have the ability to use ladders yet so the need for defenses is basically none besides whatever you need to survive a rift/portal storm. I would say the drawbacks are that the infinite water source is in front of the garage so it's likely you'll have one or two order members giving you a hassle while using it unless you set up in that garage as well. The other drawback is that the space is a little small, and the entrances are somewhat limited if the Leyak comes to pay you a visit and is camping on one of the entrances and you don't have countermeasures for that yet you'll be doing the staring contest, or worse case you'll accidentally open the door and trigger an attack.
    Good video though, very cool defense set up.

      I have seen some other Tubers use that same spot above the Blacksmith to set up shop in mid-game. It's a decent place, but I hate the walk back and forth to the water source! I took the overeater trait, so I need sooooo much more food than other builds! So I need that constant water for my farms. And you don't get the water filter barrel until really late in the game. I'd have gone INSANE trying to get 10 pots of water back to my farms every day!!!
      But, yeah, it really depends on your build and the pros and cons you want to deal with.
      Thank you for the viewing and for the comment! And I won't be upset if you take my advice and move your entire base to above the aquariums soon. 😉

    I actually kept my base in the pool area throughout the game, except it was on the matted area, with a small farm next to the bathroom and a fridge upstairs! One of the biggest upsides is the vertical space. I actually managed to get 9 or 10 of the XL cabinets over time, and I could stack 3 of them on top of eachother so that they could all be opened and used with the crafting upgrade. Another thing is once you start the Lilac, it can only really come from the locker area, making it easier to deal with.

    Great vid, I like the lever to the traps idea, curious how you set it up. Would be cool if they added in some logic gates, maybe some sensors that detect friends or enemies to trigger the traps when needed.

    • @bigkidBAM
      @bigkidBAM  4 месяца назад +5

      Thank you, I really appreciate that!
      As for the perimeter defenses, it fairly easy to set up. You just need a pair of levers for the on/off, a power strip or two (if you're going to have more than 1 "turret"), a large battery so they stay on at night during the power outages, and a bunch of electronic scrap. You can use the electronic scrap to chain power cables as long as you want. If you turn around and watch the cable while you're placing it while walking backwards, it'll turn from green to yellow to orange to red as it gets longer. It will tell you how long until it's too long to place a connector. You simply connect both of your levers together before you connect them to your turrets. That way both levers have to be on for the turrets to run, and turning even one of them off will stop your defenses. Just make sure you have your battery (batteries) BEFORE the levers and not between the levers and the defenses! Or else the battery power will keep your stuff running even after you switch the lever off. So the power order goes:
      Wall socket ---> Battery backup power ---> Lever #1 ---> run a power cable aaaaaaall the way to wherever your other lever will be (inside your base, like mine) ---> Lever #2 ---> power cable to where your turrets will be ---> Power strip (if more than 1 turret) ---> connect all your defenses to the power strip. So having both levers between the wall power and your turrets will ensure you can toggle them off no matter where you are. You can even expand on this concept for more levers, if you have multiple entry points to your base.
      The logic gate thing would be cool, but even just a trinket that prevents friendly fire from teammates and/or your defenses. I say that primarily because the fire from your flame weapons will hurt YOU as well when hitting enemies (like the flame mallet and spear). A trinket in the late game to stop that would be and easy solution.

      @bigkidBAM  4 месяца назад +3

      I thought about finding a REALLY hard-to-access base location, with only a small entry, locked door or vent or something. But, after playing through it, there's really no need for super-secure access points. Until the devs maybe add more random raids or something, no matter where you build, there's a bubble around your base that no enemies will spawn. And then you only have to worry about the portal storms. But with the crafting bench upgrade to stop those, anywhere you choose should be just fine!
      But that guardhouse is definitely a top spot for so many folks, I've seen. I just like a bit more room for my big @$$.....

    • @bigkidBAM

      @@Damer-gn7 from what I've gathered, it's random. If you have multiple workbenches, the portals could appear at any of them. I haven't seen it do more than 1 at a time yet though. But that's always a possibility if you have a lot of workbenches. Maybe the devs put that in there. I need to test more on that.
      However, the portals will appear HOURS before the actual attack happens. I just teleport to each base (I have 3 with workbenches) in turn to see which one has the purple portals. Then I hang out there until it's over.

      Check out my long-winded reply to "hardcorehatter965". It's basically making sure you place all levers between a single power socket and the defenses.
