Hey folks. I concur. The D-808 had the most stable signal, less fading, lower noise and clearer voice to my ears. Good old D-808 fighting the new Qodosen champ back 😁
@@F4LDT-Alain It does sound good 😀 It is a great radio and it used to be my absolute favourite. But I fear the Qodosen has overtaken it now as my current favourite.
Thanks for your comment Pavel, I agree, the D-808 sounds very good here. But I prefer the Qodosen sound, to my ears it is a bit cleaner. It is a very subjective opinion though.
Thanks Andre for a station I sleep in to hear at my QTH in Tucson, Arizona. I need to find a radio that I can set like a VCR for a quick recording and playback at a more convenient time..😂! 73! Have a great day!
I bought 2 Tecsun radios (PL-600) but unfortunately the charging circuit for their AA batteries have malfunctioned on both units. I'll have to fix and improve the circuit. This is unfortunate, the radio itself works very well. This is something Tecsun should consider improving; it also happened with a Tecsun PL-660. Three Tecsun charging circuits have malfunctioned.
Hi Henry, this seems unfortunate. I wonder if the later PL-660 and PL-680 versions also have this problem. Maybe they improved it on these versions. I have a PL-680 on the way to me, ordered one two weeks ago. I will certainly check this over time.
How’s battery life on the Qodosen? I use cheap batteries with no capacity info and it’s bad but I wonder how battery live will be with higher battery capacity like 3600mAh?
Hi Ali, I use a 3000 mAh battery in mine, and it works OK. The Qodosen is quite power-hungry, but I get about a week out of my battery. I do use the radio a lot, so I think that is not too bad.
D-808 sounded best to me, what was the BW set to? The DX-286 sounded better at 6K BW instead of 4K, but my ears took a beating in various wars, so there's that. Thanks for the compare.
This is version 2. There were three versions, mine is the second version. The third version is the one where the IC board was changed quite significantly.
The d808 is not a bad radio by any means. But it's depleting the battery when radio is off in no time, and I really don't like it for this reason.

@@eldontyrellcorp Not my experience at all. I have one in a cabin I rarely use and it sits there easily for weeks without use. I find it with the 18650 fully charged.
Strange indeed. I have to say I have the first generation. I know for sure there's a second model where they redesigned the PCB (with a different LCD backlight colour). Although I don't know the impact on power consumption.
Got to say I really enjoy the Qodosen these days, the size of it and it’s just such a good radio for portability.
I agree, it is such an easy radio to just grab and start DXing, and you know you will always hear something interesting!
To me, the D-808 sounds most intelligible. 73 from Germany, Stephan
Hi Stephan, thanks for your comment. It does sound good, I agree.
Same. On par with qodoshen
@@DXPedro Yes, I think it is on par with the Qodosen.

Thanks! On XHDATA D-808, words in English are best distinguished. This is the winner in this case.

Nice to hear that you also hear it there!
Hi André, you switched the two xhdata radios in the time table. First you showed the D-808 and then the D-608WB.
Thanks! I fixed it now.
grate video it kan b MI Radio - Myanmar International Radio i cood b rong as too hear wat was sed it is hard too make out grate video all the best
Thank you for your comment Andre! It is true, the voices are hard to understand here, but it is Myanmar Radio for sure.
Excellent! I own both Qodosen and the 608 and love both radios. Thanks for the video!
Me too, I really like the D-608WB. I think it is quite sensitive, and I like the bright yellow colour and the rugged look!

Hi John, the bandwidth on the D-808 was at 4 kHz. It does sound good here. I think the Qodosen and the D-808 are more or less on par here, to my ears.
Qodosen and XHDATA the best
I prefer the Qodosen, but the D-808 also does really well.
@@swlistening In SW, both have similar sensitivity, but Qodosen shines over d808 when fading is defiant.
@@marcosmza1962 This is true.
Is that the original 808 or the newer one?

Looks like the D808 performed best, as far as audio quality.

I also don't have the battery issue on mine. Might be just with the first version?
Hi John, it certainly sounds good. To my ears the Qodosen and D-808 are more or less on par here, the D-608WB just slightly behind.
