Right at the end, at 2:48 he slipped some “French accent”, which made me smile. Thanks for sharing

I think this channel is a welcome one and will follow it to see what other candied surprised you offer. Late 19th piano music is such a ripe , purplish over done sugared fruit I'm afraid to see and hear somethings but sugared like SaintSaens,Thalberg's preludes,Moskowsky's fun and unforgettable bonbons are not saccharine .This is the best of the cadenzas I've heard and yet none of them fit as well as Beethoven's original cadenzas .St.Saens is admirable in that he actually uses Beethovenian compositional techniques . Let's see what Busoni does ?

Should there be an F natural in the pp chord at 1:02 ?

      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What makes you think it should be?

A dominant 7, 5+ chord in this voicing is pretty unusual. Also the arabesque which comes out of it has F naturals.

Could be, I've definitely seen mistakes in some of these cadenzas' sheet music, though in this case I think it sounds consistent enough.

@@bassettoclarinetto Exactly. It sounds like it's a French sixth chord, although that would have been an E natural, not an F sharp. But it resolves the wrong way to be any kind of augmented sixth chord. I agree that the F sharp is an oversight, although it does not sound hideous. Just unidiomatic for both Beethoven and Saint-Saëns.

Oh sorry I indeed read the description a little too fast and just saw his name and assume he was playing haha

Yeah to be fair I modeled the musescore version after his playing, so it is similar (as much as the limitations of the software allow for)

You have done brilliantly getting Musescore to sound as natural as it does. Great job!

While a cadenza depends on the pianist who plays it, this one sounds terrible and incongruent with the concerto. I don’t enjoy listening to it.
