the push pull blast technique is just unequaled perfection. true madman
push pull is the most important technique in drums
Push pull technique is cheating though - just like heel-toe is cheating on the pedals.. It only counts if you do full wrist strokes on a surface that has ZERO rebound using stick height as high as your head for each stroke - even if you're going at 350bpm. No fingers or push-pull allowed.

However, after hearing ‘Solaris’ and ‘Devoured Usurper’ I must say that the new Obscura album is heavy as fuck. David’s drum parts are hectic as usual.

I think this band is on to something different.
I don’t understand how one can achieve this level of mastery. I’ve played drums my entire life (very few things impress me) and this guy blows my mind with every single drum play through.

I’m with you bro. I’m pretty good at the things I like to do but this dude’s skills are surreal. The scary thing is that there’s a few of them at this level. The other dude mentioned Schilling but also Sebastian Lanser and Darren Cesca continually flip my wig.
Me too, i'm an old skool 80's-90's rock/metal drummer and can't say that "very few things impress me" but to me David is the best, cleanest ,fastest player ever..unreal foot control 🦖

@@fuzzydunlop0507 Yeah Sebastian is killer ... so is the utter speed and technical complexity of Darren Cesca but for some reason people overlook his inhuman skills.
Edit : Janne Jaloma’s drumming on “God Ends Here” by Aeon is ballistic also.

A problem I have with a lot of drummers who play pretty darn fast is; they have difficulties continuing the beat. Fills, breaks, and changes. But David, you always... ALWAYS manage to keep it interesting and fun to follow. Keep it up, as she said.
