damn... people really seem to struggle with making good 808s.. the trick is to 1. make it in key and tune it. 2. silence is just as powerful as sound 3. in trap its cool to make big leaps in tone, like Simon points out. 4. remember its not just a bass nor perc, so find a good balance

Like I think if I had all the knowledge Servida has in music theory I would produce dope ass songs, I have so much ideas and make whole songs in my head but when I try to put it on fl it takes so much time I forget everything or can't even reproduce them :(
try watching 12tone's building blocks series, and then his other videos. it'll get you into basic music theory and then edge you into the advanced stuff. I will tell you though it isn't aimed towards electronic music producers, but is entertaining and educational (music theory wise) nonetheless. hope you find this helpful!
