    That is, HANDS DOWN, the best name for a rail car I’ve ever seen! I will lease that car someday for a trip. A new thing for my bucket list.

    Thanks for the fun cool video. My grandfather was a loco. engineer for southern railway. He lived in Va. He snd the other railroad men didn't like private cars. That meant the road foreman of engines and trainmaster usually road the train. Any time railroad official road the train.

    Those aren't roomettes, they're bedrooms (to sleep two). Roomettes have only one drop-down bed, and occupy only half the width of the car with a center hallway.

    • @gravelydon7072
      @gravelydon7072 3 года назад +3

      Roomettes can have two beds. The lower seats serves as one bed when folded down and then another drops down from the ceiling. Bedrooms normally have both a toilet and a shower. A Roomette will not have a shower and some do not have toilets either.

      Sleeping cars built from the 1930s on during the streamliner era with roomettes only had one bed. Those are the cars that became Amtrak's "Heritage" fleet of sleeping cats. Superliner and Viewliner roomettes have two beds.

      @@1940limited I mean, just look at the Observation lounge. Office chairs, random posters, random TV, It's been so heavily modified from it's original historic self that it looks like a fantasy room from Disney Land. I don't mind the Kitchen and the bedroom but the owner should have kept most of it's heritage.

    • @marksteiner3810
      @marksteiner3810 Год назад

      @@FreedomLovingLoyalist One is lucky if he can find a car in this condition, let alone visit or ride in one. I'll take Dagny Taggart as is in video to a squishy airline first class flight with unruly passengers and a hair trigger FAA that forces flight cancellations for a little rain shower somewhere.
