A great video, thanks a lot! Just a small correction for others interested in visiting these spots in Riga. The last area is called Tallinn Quarter or Tallinn Street Quarter, not Italian Quarter.
I was born there, in Riga, but left when I was 9 years old. My parents and I were the only ones from a large family who survived the war because we were already in America and I neveer went back...too afraid of endless days crying of what might have been. My grandparents had a house in Riga and a Datcha in Meluzhi...
It s very beautiful. My husband's ancestry is from Lithuania. We have never been. We live in the U.S. since birth. Tx for sharing Latvia on the channel.

Wow what a heavenly place… I would love to visit Latvia… honestly so glad you guys are living your dreams… travelling… I wish I can just pack up and leave…
Latvians are well-skilled with smoked meats, from all of the different sausages to fish. That smoked mackerel is sublime enjoyed cold, with just fresh lemon squeezed on it. In the new city center there used to be a shop that only sold smoked meats and they had smoked wild boar jerky, that tasted like lean bacon with a sweet molasses glaze on it. Unfortunately, you can't take it or any meat on a flight to the USA. :(
@@dacedaine822 That sounds forši! I will try it during my next visit in Latvia. I always go to LIDO for the chicken fillet topped with melted cheese and champignon sauce.
@@dacedaine822 Good to know! I still haven't been to the Lido Atputas Centrs, but usually go to the one by Doma laukums. Here's an interesting one. I've been to the best pizzerias in NYC, Brooklyn and New Jersey and the pizza with mushrooms (fughi) at Daba Mamma, Mežaparks T pietura was fantastic! I sang at the 2018 concerts and we had a long wait to get back so we hung out there to wait out the long lines. Latvians make great NY thin style pizza too!
@@riproar11 You really do know a lot about Riga! I’m gonna have to ask you for advise next time I go back home. I haven’t lived there for over 20 years, so each trip is a discovery.
Nice video! Just two comments. Baltic countries are located in Northern Europe. And it's really a disaster, that there are not so much men's shops in country. 😄
Thank you for the correction. It’s actually North-East to be very precise. :) And yes, it’s an absolute disaster that there’s no men clothing shops around. 🤪 My husband loves a bit of fashion, and everyone looks so good in Latvia, he wanted to blend in. 😉
Not cumin, caraway seeds! Due to its appearance cumin may be confused with the caraway seed, but despite their similar appearance the taste is very different. The caraway seed is darker in colour, smoother and a bit curved. Caraway seeds taste more bitter, and the aroma can be described as more mint / anise-like. (Quote)
Thank you, David! You’re right, Latvia is very expensive for what it is, which is predominantly aftermath of Covid. The war on our doorstop is contributing to price spikes too, but I think this is a global issue across Europe at the moment. I find the whole Europe unbearably unaffordable for what it actually offers. Come visit when the dust settles :)
Coffee in United states cost 5-7 usd plus tax 10% pluss 18% minimum tip and that is really be americano coffee.. i just returned to Latvia and got good coffee finally again..
Very interesting, although your carnism is, of course, regrettable. By the way, the Baltics are, in fact, *Central* Europe. You can check it - open an atlas on a Map of the entire continent of Europe. Put a ruler to it, from the Ural Mountains to Portugal. The Baltics and ❤Belarus❤ would be at just about the middle of it; this is because the actual centralmost point of the entire continent is, in fact, in Southern Lithuania.🙂
Thank you very much for your video about most beautiful city - Riga. Just couple of things - Russian language spoken people lived in Riga since 1200 at least, not just from Soviet time. And coffee - yes, we love it, but definitely you can find a very good cup of for 1.50- 2.50 euro.
Thank you for the correction, Jelena. Regarding coffee, we really tried to find a cheaper one in Riga, but the city seems to be so expensive lately! The coffee for 1.50-2.50 was only available in Narvesen, but that is not “drinkable”! Share some coffee tips with us ❤️
Please do not write such a nonsense. Anno 1200 there was not such a language as russian at all, russian is a relatively new language. And secondly, there was less than 1% of russians in Latvia at the beginning of 19th century, some 8% of russians in Latvia in 1938. Russification is a direct consequence of Soviet occupation.
Thank you for showing my country to the world ❤️
