    I have one with the same finish. It’s my first Jazzmaster and first Classic Vibe. It’s an absolute steal for the price-good to go right out of the box.

    I am a luthier and own a repair shop in Texas. A client brought me his yesterday to install a Mastery Bridge/Vibrato. After installing it and setting it up, I instantly fell in love. Checked Guitar center and one of the local ones had the Daphne Blue on sale and had 1 left so I had to have it.
    I work on all kinds of guitars for a living and I can say, in my 25 years experience working on guitars, I am impressed with the tone and sound of this guitar for the price point. That being said it does have some things about it that beg for an upgrade: the stock vibrato is a little clanky and using it seems to knock it a little out of tune. As stated in the video, having it professionally setup and intonated is crucial. Installing the Mastery bridge/vibrato kit made all the difference, and bumps it up to professional level playability and stability. The frets definitely need to be polished and the nut slots need some love especially if you’re going up in gauge from factory. Other than those issues, once upgraded and setup I found it hard to put this guitar down.

      @jannevaatainen Год назад +1

      Doesn't the Mastery Bridge/Vibrato set cost almost as much as the Classic Vibe guitar itself?

    • @hillelmusic
      @hillelmusic Год назад +2

      @@jannevaatainen yes, but the way I see it, if you’re going to upgrade a bridge, better to upgrade one that didn’t cost you as much to begin with. In otherwords, let’s say I had an $800 budget for a Jazzmaster, I’d rather buy a Classic Vibe and a Mastery set than just a Fender Jazzmaster with a bridge and vibrato that still has much to be desired.

    • @reneebear3641
      @reneebear3641 11 месяцев назад

      Hey what works for you works but I’ve had success shimming the neck & bringing the bridge up in the posts so the bridge has the proper break angle for the strings to force the bridge to rock, basically making the bridge a non-friction point
      To each their own, I just don’t dig the mastery system since it basically removes the whole rocking bridge system that kinda makes the offset line the offset line

    Just got a jazzmaster fsr Daphne Blue. Wow, what a big open sound these guitars have. Set up was damn near perfect out the box. I made the guitar center dudes open a fresh box so I could have a chance at a “good one”. This jazzmaster sounds big and nasty with distortion, some seriously cool tones! I can see why my bloody valentine used these guitars. They sound huge when you play chords.
    This guitar will always scream cool. So happy to own 😊

    My experience was... ordered online from American Musical Supply... they don't open the box or set the intonation, etc... Got the guitar... noisiest single coil guitar I've ever touched in 40 years of pickin'... upon further inspection... there is a bad finish crack in the upper part of the neck pocket... right out of the box the upper bout "rhythm" volume control did not and has never worked since day 1... not worth playing the send-it-back, let's pay shipping from me to them game (they don't cover return shipping) ... plus, the frets are sharp like a chainsaw... so there's that... so much for "Oh, boy I discovered a cool guitar for cheap, and it's a Squier... or... the woopie doo doo over-hyping they do on the "Classic Vibe" series... BS BS BS, lol... but it sells guitars I suppose... and a lot of people would not be able to tell the difference...) I stripped the guts out of the guitar... and dry-walled the entire (very large) control cavity with a meticulous copper shielding tape surgery... I plan to use this as a fun project, I got a deal on it when I bought it for $399.99 instead of $429.99... they were having a sale... I'll purchase a pre-wired harness and I have in mind some Fender Pure Vintage 60s Jazzmaster pups... or I might go wild with some aftermarkets like Seymour Duncan, or whoever else might make a Jazzmaster pickup... -- Mine is the 3 Color Sunburst as well... as far as pretty... the finish except for one small crack in the neck pocket, the finish is gorgeous... and the guitar is very light... I like light guitars in my older age, haha... It definitely scratched the Jazzmaster itch for not too much money... (the internal wiring is ridiculously teeny weeny... teeny itsy bitsy pots... super thin wiring that MAY conduct one or two electrons, but not much more (after thought... would be cool to add a mini switch for a boost of some kind... sort of like the Clapton Strat's mid-boost... plenty of room in the gargantuan routing job they did under the pick guard...)

      Interesting... got mine for £264 new. A bit of a dog to start with - wouldn't stay in tune. A proper set up and fret dressing helped sort that, partially. I dropped in a 'stay trem' tremolo arm, so the tremolo wouldn't squeek and a mustang bridge so the top E wouldn't ping out, inserted in some brass sleeves that I'd had made up to stop it wiggling about too much and spoiling the intonation. Then I realised that the as fitted pickups were weedy, as were the electrics and all buzzed like a hive of bees. An evening lining the cavity with copper tape and earthing everything, then dropping in a set of Mojo 60s spec pickups and wiring completed the job and All is now quiet. Granddad's axe/ Trigger's broom (UK comedy ref - google it)?? Possibly, but now it looks, plays and sounds the mutt's nuts and it was FUN. 😂

      Bending I would be careful honestly. The high E might pinch out at the 10th-15th fret area only because there’s not enough downward pressure at the bridge. I think that’s the main reason people shim the neck, because other wise the guitar plays beautifully..but it’s not made to be a blues/rock bending machine like the strat or les Paul

    I actually have a question. I always wanted a jazz master and this classic vibe series seemed absolutely perfect for me. However I already have a squier 60 CV strat and if I read it right they both have the same alnico style pickups. Now my question is this true, that they have the same pickups, or do they sound different completely despite both being single coil alnico style?

    I am not a big fan of the 25.5 inch scale, but I do think it is a good guitar over all. When it comes to the scale length of a guitar, I seem to like the 24.75 inch scale a bit more, in both sound and feel. To me the strings on the 25.5 seem to feel a bit tighter and when I play a guitar with the 25.5 inch scale I feel like I have to force it a lot more than I do with the 24.75 inch scale guitars. But that seems to be a preference thing, so every guitar player would be different when it comes to what they like.
    I have wondered for a long time, what a Stratocaster would sound like if it had a 24.75 inch scale instead of the 25.5 that they always have. It would be something I would like to see tried at least once. Maybe it would sound bad, or maybe it would just sound like a Single Cut with single coils on it.. but I have been curious about that for a long time, I guess it would all depend on where exactly the pickups were along the Scale, and of course which Single Coils were used...
    Okay, I am rambling again, so nice video and nice guitar, I hope all is well.

      If you're curious what a 24.75 inch scale strat would sound like, you might actually like the Squier Paranormal Cyclone. It has a mustang style body, but the pickups are strat pickups and it has 24.75 inch scale length. It also has a strat tremolo and individual on/off switches for the pickups. I got one and it's pretty cool.

      I actually like that guitar, but I have.. other motives when I say I would like to see a Stratocaster with the 24.75 scale. I have always liked the shape of a Strat, but disliked playing them because I prefer the 24.75 inch scale better in sound and feel. I know I am a bit crazy, but I think it would be pretty cool... Also, I doubt it would sound much different than the Cyclone, but it would look like a Strat, but sound like a Cyclone lol.. I love options, and I think it would be a cool option to explore.

      The strings on a longer-scale guitar have to be tighter if they're the same gauge. A lot of players use lighter gauges on longer-scale guitars. If you like 10s on 24.75 inch scale, try 9s on the 25.5 inch scale.
