So true, even all in band are amanzingly talented, it wouldnt be the Nightwish sound we know without Tuomas.. Tuomas is imo only member that cant be replaced, now its a diffrent story if the band would carry on, if one more left, but Tuomas once said, Nightwish is like a carosel, the riders might change, but it keeps spinning..
I agree. I think the closest to similar feel by other composers might be something like The Dark Element - "Songs The Night Sings" or Visions Of Atlantis - "Melancholy Angel". Some even call "Songs The Night Sings" as sequel to Escapist by Nightwish.

I was late to the NightWish (with Floor) party, only discovering them in 2020. After being a metal head since the 1980’s, they quickly became my favorite band ever. And over 4 years later, I still listen to them nearly everyday. ❤❤❤
Ann Waychoff were the mother of the Nightwish Army. A very kind lady that's not with us any more. Ann always wrote some kind welcoming words to new reactors, telling them about Nightwish. This was her favorite song. Gabriel has taken over from Ann after she passed away, a few years ago.
R.I.P. Sweet Ann. Missing her kind soul. From Nightwish, there's so many more directions to go. All the solo projects from all the band. To all the connection bands. Floors husband is drummer for Sabaton. Kamalot will always have a special connection to Nightwish(Denver debacle).

Wherever she's at in the mother's embrace ❤ Nightwish are the first band to SUCCESSFULLY put Classical/Opera sound together with Metal/Heavy Rock sounds. (Freddy Mercury also did this..., but more with "Rock" than Metal.) Many bands have tried but have not been able to CONSISTENTLY be successful. Nightwish, they've inspired a lot of other "Symphonic Metal bands." (Check out Epica with Floor in "Sancta Terra") 😊 Looking forward to your next one... 😋

Until the Breakdown hits you with a 10 ton hammer it is all fun and games. But then the slow chugging monster with the machine gun riffing takes over. And for every Metal Head this lights up the day. Awesome….Imho one of the best songs ever. Sometimes the sky is piano black…. I would suggest doing an entire concert if you like, but try a different concert of theirs, that you have seen none of. They have three other full concert DVD''s with Floor but for you I'd choose Buenos Aires 2018 Floor has tattoos and her costume in that one will blow your mind, seeing as you like the visual aspect of her so much. There is however no bad choices when it comes to Nightwish live ..... \m/
Concert is ok, but I would not say her getting the tattoos added anything to her appearance, but causes a distraction. It took away from her beautiful lady appearance from Wacken 2013. She looks a lot better when she has her arms covered, no matter what she does. Look how good SIMONE SIMONS looks, no tattoos. My personal opinion, but lot's of people like tattoos, I just don't understand why they get one's that cover so much of your body.

The whole band is incredible .... they make me grin like a maniac one minute, then bring tears to my eyes the next. Tuomas is a genius of epic proportions, and in Floor (along with the rest of the band) he has the perfect tool to manifest his vision and present something truly extraordinary. Its nice to see someone new get excited by one of my favorite bands. I was blessed to see them minus the original drummer(RIP), here in San Antonio a few years back. Had a blast. Also, if you really like her voice, you'll be blown away by her version of Phantom of the Opera with Hank Port, from Beste Zangers, get out the tissues, you'll need them.
There's a version of this performance that someone made with subtitles and extended with the spoken words part from the studio version. It's a poem with a soft musical backdrop, sad and thoughtful, but it's worth checking it out (not necessarily as a new RUclips reaction, since toy did the sting anyway), because it complements the message of the song perfectly. And yes, you're right. There is no band quite like them. There are still many bands telling stories theory their songs (best example is iron maiden), but nobody young to this extend to make the song being the soundtrack to the story. That's why you, except live) rarely see anyone stand out too much. They are creating a story and seeing a mood. I guess that's why the talent of Empuu is so overlooked, since he's rarely in the spotlight - he mostly does exactly hast a song needs.
I think it is an excellent idea to do the whole concert. In that way you will get a much better experience - you can feel the energi and the bond with the audience. It is very unique between Nightwish and the crowd, because they create a common sound experience with some serious stories as the red line - in cooperation with the crowd. Very few bands are able to do this as well as Nightwish

I just love Floor, her beautiful highly versatile voice (from opera to death metal growls and all between), her beauty and grace combined with so much power and her kind humble personality. Nightwish is my favourite band; all members are outstanding artists who play for the song instead of showing off - no egos on stage. And you can see that they love what they are doing - and each other.
RIP Ann Waycoff. Sometimes the within is piano black. There forever remains the change from G to e minor. My favorite from Wacken. Still many great songs from this concert, including the opener Dark Chest of Wonders and the song after this, the finale, Last Ride of the Day. Hi Lanae! Please do the whole concert! It is sooo good! Fyi..during the covid lockdown Floor started het own YT Channel with a lot of funny video's, working in her garden, riding her horse, interviews with other artists etc. That was so welcome in that horrible period! And she is so down to earth and sweet! As NW isn't touring for an unkown period of time Floor has now started a new series called "Coffee, Questions & Answers". You can put questions in the comments and hopefully she will answer them in the video's. The 1st episode is called "The Year That Changed Everything". She went through a lot the last 1,5 years and still going strong! And you get to know her more. Have a nice weekend!
Where as this concert is the general gold standard for Nightwish live however certain songs have great performances at other concerts. Very impressive considering Floor was still officially a fill-in singer after the other one left mid tour.
I'm all for it! just make it European time zone friendly and on the weekend. I'll be at the Wacken Open Air in July/August ... it's gonna be a blast .... It's a 12 hour drive from my place to Wacken, but I was there in 2006. 2008, 2011, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2019. 2023 we missed it by one hour. the camping ground was closed due to bad weather. now in 2024 we will be there on Sunday till Sunday. It's gonna be a blast.......
I love Tuomas' music, he is our metal Mozart, our national hero in my opinion 🤘I love this song, lyrics, melody, everything. And that Jukka's drumming and his style, I miss him so 🥁Always pleasure seeing him hitting those drums ☺ I have this Wacken 2013 DVD and I highly recommend that or reactinn the whole concert 🤘🤘
No 2 in my favourites list. Marco is superb - I love his second entry (the rising gliss) so much I extracted it and have it as my ringtone. Favourite parts: Piano Black , and particularly the best description of depression I've heard - "sometimes the within is piano black". Piano black - that deep glossy black that almost evades the eye. Emppu holding that long note one-handed as he drinks a Corona. The unexpected pauses (rests) towards the end, particularly, in this performance, when Floor turns her hands upwards and the flames seem to come from her palms. Great chuggy rhythms in the breakdown. Little pizzicato string sections in the run-up to that ending. At the end the lead vocals use the same lyrics as the choir are singing in the earlier parts - "All that great heart lying still and slowly dying All that great heart lying still on an angelwing". That lyric is perfect for the staccato rhythm. ...and lots more. You noticed the pointing at her mouth - the accompanying lyric is "smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end". If you are going to do a whole concert, the best of all is Buenos Aires 2018 followed by Wembley 2015, IMO.
If you think this outfit looks like a goddes, you definitely have to watch some of the Buenos Aires videos. I highly recommend "The devil and a deep dark ocean" and "Dead boy's poem" or "I want my tears back" for some extra fun.

Yes - do the whole concert ! To me, there is hardly anything in music, either rock or classical, that can rival the sheer exhilarating energy of the first couple of minutes of the opening song, 'Dark Chest of Wonders' - the only thing that comes close is the introduction to 'Das Rheingold' - they're both signaling an epic experience to come, and it's even more exciting when you already know what's coming . . .
This is one of my favs - "sometimes within is piano black" - piano black over pristine waters" Are you kidding me? The transition in this song, like so many others, is as close to perfection you can get. There appears to be no end to the brilliance of Tuomas. Floor and the players bring it together to make the magic. BTW, wait till you hear Floor growl, holy smokes she'll give you the chills. Damn, these guys are good.
They were founded in 1997. Greatest band formed between around 1985 through 2005. That's a 30 year period. Certainly one of my top 5 bands of all time.

The whole band is incredible .... they make me grin like a maniac one minute, then bring tears to my eyes the next. Tuomas is a genius of epic proportions, and in Floor (along with the rest of the band) he has the perfect tool to manifest his vision and present something truly extraordinary. Its nice to see someone new get excited by one of my favorite bands. I was blessed to see them minus the original drummer(RIP), here in San Antonio a few years back. Had a blast. Also, if you really like her voice, you'll be blown away by her version of Phantom of the Opera with Hank Port, from Beste Zangers, get out the tissues, you'll need them.

There's a version of this performance that someone made with subtitles and extended with the spoken words part from the studio version. It's a poem with a soft musical backdrop, sad and thoughtful, but it's worth checking it out (not necessarily as a new RUclips reaction, since toy did the sting anyway), because it complements the message of the song perfectly.
And yes, you're right. There is no band quite like them. There are still many bands telling stories theory their songs (best example is iron maiden), but nobody young to this extend to make the song being the soundtrack to the story. That's why you, except live) rarely see anyone stand out too much. They are creating a story and seeing a mood. I guess that's why the talent of Empuu is so overlooked, since he's rarely in the spotlight - he mostly does exactly hast a song needs.
I think it is an excellent idea to do the whole concert. In that way you will get a much better experience - you can feel the energi and the bond with the audience. It is very unique between Nightwish and the crowd, because they create a common sound experience with some serious stories as the red line - in cooperation with the crowd. Very few bands are able to do this as well as Nightwish

I just love Floor, her beautiful highly versatile voice (from opera to death metal growls and all between), her beauty and grace combined with so much power and her kind humble personality. Nightwish is my favourite band; all members are outstanding artists who play for the song instead of showing off - no egos on stage. And you can see that they love what they are doing - and each other.
RIP Ann Waycoff. Sometimes the within is piano black. There forever remains the change from G to e minor. My favorite from Wacken. Still many great songs from this concert, including the opener Dark Chest of Wonders and the song after this, the finale, Last Ride of the Day. Hi Lanae! Please do the whole concert! It is sooo good! Fyi..during the covid lockdown Floor started het own YT Channel with a lot of funny video's, working in her garden, riding her horse, interviews with other artists etc. That was so welcome in that horrible period! And she is so down to earth and sweet! As NW isn't touring for an unkown period of time Floor has now started a new series called "Coffee, Questions & Answers". You can put questions in the comments and hopefully she will answer them in the video's. The 1st episode is called "The Year That Changed Everything". She went through a lot the last 1,5 years and still going strong! And you get to know her more. Have a nice weekend!

Where as this concert is the general gold standard for Nightwish live however certain songs have great performances at other concerts. Very impressive considering Floor was still officially a fill-in singer after the other one left mid tour.

I'm all for it! just make it European time zone friendly and on the weekend. I'll be at the Wacken Open Air in July/August ... it's gonna be a blast .... It's a 12 hour drive from my place to Wacken, but I was there in 2006. 2008, 2011, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2019. 2023 we missed it by one hour. the camping ground was closed due to bad weather. now in 2024 we will be there on Sunday till Sunday. It's gonna be a blast.......

I love Tuomas' music, he is our metal Mozart, our national hero in my opinion 🤘I love this song, lyrics, melody, everything. And that Jukka's drumming and his style, I miss him so 🥁Always pleasure seeing him hitting those drums ☺ I have this Wacken 2013 DVD and I highly recommend that or reactinn the whole concert 🤘🤘

Marco is superb - I love his second entry (the rising gliss) so much I extracted it and have it as my ringtone.
Favourite parts:
Piano Black , and particularly the best description of depression I've heard - "sometimes the within is piano black". Piano black - that deep glossy black that almost evades the eye.
Emppu holding that long note one-handed as he drinks a Corona.
The unexpected pauses (rests) towards the end, particularly, in this performance, when Floor turns her hands upwards and the flames seem to come from her palms.
Great chuggy rhythms in the breakdown.
Little pizzicato string sections in the run-up to that ending.
At the end the lead vocals use the same lyrics as the choir are singing in the earlier parts -
"All that great heart lying still and slowly dying
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing". That lyric is perfect for the staccato rhythm.
...and lots more.
You noticed the pointing at her mouth - the accompanying lyric is "smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end".
If you are going to do a whole concert, the best of all is Buenos Aires 2018 followed by Wembley 2015, IMO.

If you think this outfit looks like a goddes, you definitely have to watch some of the Buenos Aires videos. I highly recommend "The devil and a deep dark ocean" and "Dead boy's poem" or "I want my tears back" for some extra fun.

To me, there is hardly anything in music, either rock or classical, that can rival the sheer exhilarating energy of the first couple of minutes of the opening song, 'Dark Chest of Wonders' - the only thing that comes close is the introduction to 'Das Rheingold' - they're both signaling an epic experience to come, and it's even more exciting when you already know what's coming . . .
This is one of my favs - "sometimes within is piano black" - piano black over pristine waters" Are you kidding me? The transition in this song, like so many others, is as close to perfection you can get. There appears to be no end to the brilliance of Tuomas. Floor and the players bring it together to make the magic. BTW, wait till you hear Floor growl, holy smokes she'll give you the chills. Damn, these guys are good.
They were founded in 1997. Greatest band formed between around 1985 through 2005. That's a 30 year period. Certainly one of my top 5 bands of all time.
