JetBlack will be sending out an email to those that have repurchased shortly with updated arrival dates...it is on its way. Thanks so much for waiting.
I realize that I am probably part of a minuscule few who rides Campagnolo equipped bike. No mention of a Campagnolo compatible free hub here, and before say, "just use the Zwift Cog," those Zwift gear change controllers won't mount onto my bike because they sit right where my thumb lever is on the bike. I wonder if they will have a Campagnolo option in the future? For now, I am happy with my V6 Kickr, but this looks extremely impressive!
I pre-ordered one of these as soon as Wahoo came out with the BS that they couldn't update the firmware on the V5...Looks like I've made a good decision that'll save me a SL of money...don't know how many times I almost pulled the trigger on the Move...
If they package that trainer with the hoods from the Zwift bike, I would be really tempted to buy one. (My current set up is a Wahoo Kikr V5 with a cheap second-hand frame that stays on the turbo)
The only thing the review didn’t cover I guess was how it feels. Wahoo have made a big deal about fly wheel weight using it as part of the improved value between the core and kickr for example. Given the fly wheel weight is less on this than the core is this one area you would recommend a core over this or is it so slight you don’t really notice it? Thanks for the great review
I am interested to see how it tests with a standard cassette as I’ll be ditching the Zwift cog out of the box. Since moving to Wahoo SYSTM a couple of years back I can’t get myself interested in Zwift anymore.
Pre ordered from the UK, shipping mid December, upgraded from V5 Kickr that doesn't support virtual shifting, I guess I'll just use that for mywhoosh/Rouvy/indieVelo in the future. Good review 👍🚴♂️
I made the same mistake assembling mine - the assembly video from Jetblack notes using the other tool which has the shorter allen key with no clearance issues.
@gplama given the specs of this unit and performance, do you find it hard to suggest spending nearly double for a current version Kickr or Neo 2T if cost is no object? Thank you for spending so much time in test this gear to allow us, the consumer, to make an informed decision.
Quick update on my side: my trainer arrived today :) It's very similar to the Zwift One. However the feed are different. Unboxing and startup all fine. Pretty much self explanatory. Wifi Connection without any issues- fist ride in a short while (2hr workout).
Tested it a couple of days and rides! Great trainer. I am very happy so far. WiFi connection is stable, ride feel is great. Workouts are also good (the only annoying thing is that Zwift is setting gear 8 as standard in free ride, that’s way to soft…)
Great review! I received an email which says that it will be a 3 weeks delay at Europe deliveries. Is there anyone in the world that received a unit except reviewers?
Thinking this plus a rocker plate will be perfect for me to finally replace my old dumb trainer. Thanks to the pricing it'll actually come in a touch less than a Kickr.
@@Staplechips quite a bit, yes. I used Elite Suito last season and it was quiet and worked like a charm. Then I got a Zwfit Ride and immediately two different issues (plastic cups make noise) and a "rubbing" sound. Replaced plastic cups with spacers and some sprockets and I still have a rubbing sound (especially while spinning down). Googling, reading, looking around - and I am not alone. QA seems to be an issue with Wahoo.
Thanks for the video. I have a few questions left: 1. Is WiFi 2.4GHz only like Wahoo, or can it do 5GHz? 2. Will they offer SRAM or Campagnolo freehub bodies for it? 3. Does it use the same freehub body as the Volt?
Hello, only 2.4Hz. We will have XRD free hub bodies in the very near future. Sorry no Campag at this stage. (use Zwift Cog) The free hub body is different than the Volt.
Great review and I am excited to purchase one, but they are sold out in the US and they are not taking backorders, so no way to even place an order and have it delivered in the future. I suspect the $399 is an introductory price and the price will increase when they make it available for future orders. Oh well, I guess I will either have to wait until some undermined date in the future or consider other options, not knowing when more may be available.
Steve, we will be reopening the USA site for further pre-orders shortly. We want to make sure that when we do that we are communicating realistic delivery dates so we do not disappoint. Please register your interest and you will be notified as soon as the site is open again. The US$399 price is not introductory but will be the ongoing price. Thanks for your excitement and we look forward to getting you your Victory as soon as possible.
That's a shot across the bow. Really wavering atm about what to do about upgrading from the Kickr v4 to a next gen trainer with 10Hz etc. The price drop by Wahoo needs to be permanent and also have a trade-in option as well. This as a specialist Zwift only / Erg option is up there.
Looks great if I needed one. No reason to get a cog-less kickr core on prime big deals this week, or the h3 blow out sale. I got a h3 right before the bankruptcy for $450. I like it was made in USA though, but certainly lacks all these great new features.
I suffered from Bluetooth so bad on my last trainer the company agreed to take it back and give me a full refund. I was terrified of buying another trainer. The WIFI option has me sold. Giddy Up !!!!!
If you were buying a zwift ride with a trainer would you buy this trainer over the wahoo kickr Core that it comes with if bought as a package? It looks Like Id save $100 and get a better trainer?? Awesome Video!
I was about to order my Wahoo Kickr Bike, but seeing this kind of performance and accuracy, one would think again. Combine this with the Ride frame, take peace with some more noise (but still well acceptable i think) and you can see quite some money. Now where did I put my decision tree on my next purchase... Of course we are talking about a complete different technology stack and ride feel. Would you have doubts in you were in my position today?
Was waiting to pre-order in Europe since the price increased to €499.95 for some reason. Now it's back to €449.95 but you can't order anymore because the first batch is sold out. I sold my trainer to replace it with the Victory so now I'm without a trainer until at least December, kinda bummed..
Same here, what an unprofessional blunder of a launch. Guess I'm buying something else then because I can't wait half a season for the next availability (and I'm sure it's gonna be sold out immediately in Dec too).
as always, very good review. i am using a garmin tacx neobike and I am wondering, is this jetblack victory together with that new zwift bike a superior solution? is there any compelling reason to replace my garmin? im doing around 1200km/month on zwift. Thanks :)
This looks great not only in itself but to drive the whole market towards high quality at lower prices I'm still leaning towards the Elite Avanti mostly because of the form factor and 1% accuracy ; hoping to see your review of it soon
Thanks for another great review Shane. I'm tempted to swap my Neo 2T for one for all the extra features. Will there be any significant drop in road feel if I make the switch? The Neo has a little bit of sway left to right, is the Victory rigid? Cheers 🙂
Ride feel of a flywheel trainer is better than the early Neo units, imo. The Victory is rigid. You’ll get flex from whatever flooring you use and the bike you use on it.
The website says maximum rider weight is 120kg or 264 lbs. Is there any non-commercial trainer out there that supports weights over 300 lbs? Is it really going to be a problem to be overweight on one of these?
A good buy only if you live in the USA. In Canada, that $400 USD should be $560 CAD, but they sell it for... $800 !!! I've been on their subscription list since it was announced, but seeing this price, it's a straight no for me. I'm tired of price gouging.
I see that white tape on handlebar is still white. Teach me, master! :D Mine typically becomes gray within a month. And it doesn't matter how much I try to clean it :(
Would be great if that USB C port had USD-PD (power delivery) to charge laptops and tablets. Imagine in the future, you run a single cable from your trainer to your laptop/tablet and receive power and trainer data to Zwift. Think I'm asking a little too much here!
Just received a email informing me that it’s going to be shipped next week. According to Google 6 to 8 weeks from Aus to the Uk. I am going to hold on as I believe the product surpasses anything else out there
Wow, $400? Now we're talking. really the only reason I have not upgraded from my old conventional fluid trainer to a Smart trainer was the cost. To myself I just could not justify $1,200 for a trainer. Llama fills us in with information again.
I'm sorry if it's been asked before, but I can't find any mention of it. I know it says zwift cog supports only 8-12 speed, but could I put a 7-speed bike on it anyway without it causing damage? Is it an issue with chain width? Rear dropouts width/distance? I guess this means I would have to put a 7-speed casette on, even if I want to use virtual shifting, right?
Looks awesome; since you are testing so far only on the Zwift Cog you are obviously using Virtual Shifting in Zwift; any signs of auto calibration getting skewed?? Especially if you load the trainer HARD in 100% TD and using gears 22-24????..........
Sounds like the current Wahoo/Kickr issue (they're due to release the firmware to resolve any time now). Given it's an entirely different unit, I wouldn't expect it to have the same issue. Although as pointed out deep in the data section - there might be something fuzzing with things by a few watts when switching ERG/SIM/ERG etc.
Shane, could you post the length of the right half of the front leg, from the edge of the bracket to the end? Just checking whether it will fit onto my rocker plate or will hang over the edge. I have a bit of spare room (Kickr Core) so don't think it will be a problem, but couldn't find this information on Jet Black's Web site.
Great review. I'm in, have just placed the order, but will need to wait until next year for delivery I guess. Has anybody an experience how this might work with Rouvy and virtual shifting by QZ app ? I'd like to use it for both my bike and my son's mountain bike so changing the real cassettes all the time is not really good option.
Hello, I have Wahoo Kickr V6 and I’m avg user, no 1 kw sprints etc., no racing at the moment - so basically I’m wondering if “the feeling” of pedalling on JB Victory is comparable with V6, or at least - not worse? Thx in advance. If all things are same, I would sale my V6🤷♂️
Thanks for a great review but , What about the Zwift Cog and if you have an FTP of more than 250 Watt heard rumors that Zwift themselves don't recommend it for people with high FTP? Do you have any input on this?
I've touched on this topic in my recent video here: ruclips.net/video/43wYwkeqrRA/видео.htmlsi=2EJ2qruZaPcuLh2o&t=857 It's not linked to any specific rumor or FTP.

I almost wish my Wahoo Kickr Snap wasn't working so well so I'd have an excuse to buy this. The great thing is, if this thing catches on like it should, it'll force the big companies to follow suit and start making affordable trainers, as opposed to the severely overpriced trainers out there now.
Would this work well with a Mtb using 34 or 36 front ring compensating for what would be a lack of top speed (on non zwift hub trainer) with use of electronic gears?
interesting video. i'm in the market for a trainer upgrade. i currently have a kickr v5, if money is not considered, would you choose this over a kickv6, or without endorsing one over the other, in your opinion, would i be losing out choosing this over the kickr. many thanks
How concerned are you about thermal stability of power accuracy? I know with the Zwift Hub one had thermal stability issues if you have a high FTP. This trainer is designed with racing in mind so I'm curious if you did any testing with sustained high power efforts.
Would you wait for the JackBlack Victory to be more available or if money (ie. if you could get a good deal) wasnt an issue would you still prefer/recommend the Kickr Core Zwift One or the Neo 2T?
At this point I wouldn’t be recommending the 2T. It’s over five years old and we don’t know Garmin/Tacx position on future updates (such as a Zwift protocol support etc).
That inconsistency could be from the belt temp, maybe the belt they use holds its temperature until a specific temp and then it starts to slip some above that temp?
It works… but it’s not optimal with the 7.90mm rollers on those chains. I hope someone will manufacture an aftermarket AXS matched 14 (or 13) tooth cog.

JetBlack will be sending out an email to those that have repurchased shortly with updated arrival dates...it is on its way. Thanks so much for waiting.
I just bought one in store in Canada. It’s my first trainer so I hope it was a good buy!
Had the old whisperdrive and it was great for what it was at that time.
Wow silencio trainer! Makes my Wahoo Kickr 2017 version sound like a jetplane
I pre-ordered one of these as soon as Wahoo came out with the BS that they couldn't update the firmware on the V5...Looks like I've made a good decision that'll save me a SL of money...don't know how many times I almost pulled the trigger on the Move...
Just got an email that it's shipping next week...
Have a Kickr 5 and wondering same thing. Tempted to swap and then look at the Zwift bike next winter
Wow amazing what a company can achieve when it isnt trying to completely gouge your eyes out.
Got to love those Aussies making top-tier stuff in their shed!
Well done 👏
*Made in Vietnam.
another great review mate.👍 I’m like a kid at christmas mine should be here today or tomorrow at the latest 🤭🎄👏🏻
as a side note those lama legs are still looking good 👍
Hey Shane, really appreciate the work that you do!
Would you say that this is a solid upgrade from the Elite Zumo?
Yes. The Zumo was also a surprise package at the time, iirc. It's a few years old now though.
Pre ordered before finishing the video, hoping I didn't miss a discount code at the end haha
No code pimping in this one. Buy from wherever you choose. 👌🏼
£15 flat rate shipping btw.
This will replace my Wahoo Kickr V5. I'll avoid Wahoo in the future given their lack of support for the V5.
Do you know if the trainer is compatible with the either the kickr climb or elite rizer?
Yes.
here the same. bc of bad weather conditions on the sea...
Great review! Been debating between the Neo 2T and Victory… even if price is no object, it sounds like this holds its own?
The 2T was a good unit... but It's five years old now. The Victory even puts the Neo 3M to the sword. Especially on price!
@@gplama Hard to tell from you using the Ride, but would I need a riser block to level a bike correctly?
My original Tacx Neo is on its last legs so this is perfect timing
Ordered!
Keep me posted on how it goes for you mate. 👌🏼
Thinking this plus a rocker plate will be perfect for me to finally replace my old dumb trainer. Thanks to the pricing it'll actually come in a touch less than a Kickr.
Can't wait to get rid of Wahoo Kickr that I got with Zwift Ride!
Are you disappointed by the kickr? Just looking for my first trainer. The jetblack is available in December here in Germany 😢
If it works, why get rid of it? Perfectly good trainer.
now we need nordic winter testing, elite has been brilliant putting out connections season after season in sub zero conditions too on the balcony...
Thanks for the video. I have a few questions left:
@@tonysimmonds9660 Great news and thank you for stepping in to replay. I look forward to placing my order once the site has been updated.
Great and thorough review as always, which can be relied upon. Thank you. Can I use my Wahoo climb with this trainer?
No. There is no full pivoting axle. It’s something they could possibly retro-fit at a later date.
Oh, and still love my Assiomas I've had since 2019. Just hoping they bring out a road Pro version with the new spindle, and they can take my money.
on the waitlist.
This jet black trainer is very good news for me, I need a silent trainer. Question answered! Cheers.
Nice one Shane! #itsawinner
as always, very good review. i am using a garmin tacx neobike and I am wondering, is this jetblack victory together with that new zwift bike a superior solution? is there any compelling reason to replace my garmin? im doing around 1200km/month on zwift. Thanks :)
I'm always jealous at how easily you can pop out 1200w sprints haha
This looks great not only in itself but to drive the whole market towards high quality at lower prices
I'm still leaning towards the Elite Avanti mostly because of the form factor and 1% accuracy ; hoping to see your review of it soon
@@gplama Thanks dude.....Victory ordered
The website says maximum rider weight is 120kg or 264 lbs. Is there any non-commercial trainer out there that supports weights over 300 lbs? Is it really going to be a problem to be overweight on one of these?
A good buy only if you live in the USA. In Canada, that $400 USD should be $560 CAD, but they sell it for... $800 !!!
I've been on their subscription list since it was announced, but seeing this price, it's a straight no for me.
I'm tired of price gouging.
Like the handle and the base tweak, making it more stable. Core - $499 with cassette; Victory - $399 with V2 Cog. Durability ? Time will tell.
I see that white tape on handlebar is still white. Teach me, master! :D
Mine typically becomes gray within a month. And it doesn't matter how much I try to clean it :(
I never take the Zwift Ride outdoors. 😂
Is it compatible with the Wahoo Climr and the like ?
Oh, there's a detail I forgot. No. It doesn't have a full pivoting rear axle.
Came here to ask the same question. Staying with the KICKR 6 in that case, it's a deal breaker for me.
Dang !
Great review as always buzzing to get mine. I am guessing we can use the USB port as a charger for phones etc?
I haven't stuck anything into the USB port as nothing supports it yet. I assume it's data only, no charge.
David, port will be data only, no charge.
I've touched on this topic in my recent video here: ruclips.net/video/43wYwkeqrRA/видео.htmlsi=2EJ2qruZaPcuLh2o&t=857
It's not linked to any specific rumor or FTP.
I use the Cog V1 atm. No issues whatsoever and my ftp is well above that...
@@gplama No but my friend who bought it and is experiencing problems with it sent his numbers for review to Zwift and their response was if we look at your numbers and see you have an FTP of 310 Watts we don't recommend the zwift Cog for you or from 250 Watt up
@@gplama No but my friend who bought it and is experiencing problems with it sent his numbers for review to Zwift and their response was if we look at your numbers and see you have an FTP of 310 Watts we don't recommend the zwift Cog for you or from 250 Watt up
The old jet black unit got very hot and didn’t do well at low rpm in my opinion. How does this unit compare?
There are four detailed data sets I dive into in this video that should answer both of those. I specifically test low cadence ERG too.
I almost wish my Wahoo Kickr Snap wasn't working so well so I'd have an excuse to buy this. The great thing is, if this thing catches on like it should, it'll force the big companies to follow suit and start making affordable trainers, as opposed to the severely overpriced trainers out there now.
I paid $630 for my Jet-black Victory from 99 Bikes. Cant wait to get it!
How did you manage $630? Or is that a typo :D
@ALeagueMan my employer offers 15% off the full price at 99bikes. Usually doesn't do anything because of "club price".
What code is that? 😅@@ethanw9434
I didn’t see any drifting issues with the Victory in my testing that I observed with the Volt/Hub.
@@gplama Thanks!
Will they be doing international orders such as South Africa or
That inconsistency could be from the belt temp, maybe the belt they use holds its temperature until a specific temp and then it starts to slip some above that temp?
That’d then show up in the return to 200w ERG just before that, I’d think. 🤔 One for the JB team to replicate and dig into.
@@gplama that’s awesome. Glad they are checking it out.
750 AUD! undercutting kickr core by $150 and includes Zwift Cog and Click!!
Hey Shane, would you perhaps ne able to review thinkrider x2-2? or whats your opinion on thinkrider products in general
Does it have the same feet as the kickr core? It looks very similar. I'm wondering if I could use the core tennis ball mod on the jetblack.
How does the zwift cog work with axs flattop chains?
It works… but it’s not optimal with the 7.90mm rollers on those chains. I hope someone will manufacture an aftermarket AXS matched 14 (or 13) tooth cog.
What are the rocket feet/plate options with Jetblack? I’ve got wahoo and use the axis feet.
