crazy to think about how much talent the soul eater team had. Igarashi as director, Ito's character designs, Iwasaki on music. Nakamura and Suzuki as regular animators. plus talented episode directors and storyboarders across all the 51 episodes. If only it followed the source material accurately 😔
is that why the story and plot were absolute dog water? it was a genuinely forgettable anime because of how they presented basic themes, tone handling and its underwhelming script it felt like a total fumble given how good the animation is and how good Fire Force is as far as everything Soul Eater lacked
@@DoesNotInhale The anime only stopped following the manga around episode 30 something, everything before that is supposedly faithful to the manga (I say supposedly cause I haven't read it yet lmao). I do agree that FF is way better, but I wouldn't say SE is dogwater either, just kinda mid lol
@@DoesNotInhale It was manga accurate up until episode 36. The manga is incredible and I personally like it a lot more than fire force but it's honestly a matter of preference. If you didn't like it that's fine.
This and Samurai Champloo were the shows where I'd study the absolute arse outta them frame by frame, back in the day... 15 years ago... Shame the SE anime ended like a Saturday morning cartoon though.
There's always talk about this getting a remake, but sometimes I wonder if the production team of a potential remake would be able to match the sheer talent on display in the original anime.
it doesn't need a remake its a mid story and they already made it with the best animation possible why are you all such slop enjoyers you need everything to be remade
@@DoesNotInhale I think people just want the manga to be adapted. The anime only adapts half the story then goes in its own direction. It's extra frustrating to the fans cause the manga's ending was pretty good while the anime's ending is super bad.
Soul Eater doesn't get talked about enough compared to most anime. Especially when it has some incredible animations done by the staff at Studio Bones.
This is still my absolute favourite anime and I’m hoping it gets rebooted after Fire Force ends (those who’ve read it know why I think a reboot may happen)
nah it was a dog water story and script it deserves to stay as it is a remake is not necessary and Fire Force is infinitely more interesting and grounded in principles of structure and plot
Soul Eater's animation was fantastic by the Bones team but the whole story, premise, characters, plot points and script were entirely forgettable. I watched the whole thing expecting it to get better and it was such a disappointment. Its super odd too because Fire Force might be one of the best works of modern anime in all categories on top of audio design, unique audio samples, characters, art styling and some of the best fight choreography in all of anime to date. David Production has proved they can even out do Bones at times. Really good video on animation principles in this scene btw its crazy I just do not remember anything from this series especially this scene
This was a crappy show. But regarding animation, it was freaking amazing. It was made by studio Bones if I recall, which was very likely the very best studio at animating action scenes back in the day by a long shot.
@@carloscauan7967 nah dude it was a mid plot, script and characters at best you are coping hard go watch how much he improved with story telling in Fire Force its the same universe too
@@DoesNotInhale fire force was just as bad as soul eater, atleast soul eater had the benefit of being a late 2000s show so it stood out more, fire force has no place 10 years later, it was such a waste of a series.

Soul Eater glaze is always welcome
its not glaze if its deserved ;)
This is one of those animes that deserve a remake given the manga is complete.
Hell yeah, I love Soul Eater. The animation is def underrated. Keep it up! Love your stuff
its Bones dude they have never been under rated ever since 2009 they are considered one of the best along side David Productions

To me Yutaka nakamura greatest works
why have an opinion if you are going to be wrong?
@DoesNotInhale wrong about what?
Jeez there is so much good animation coming out right now it’s crazy!

Best halloween anime hands down
Loved Soul Eater from the start. And the presentation was a big part of the charm.
More Soul Eater content? Christmas is not until 2 weeks from now, you know
Love these videos dude keep up the animation insight is really interesting
Dont forget the shape of those noses, thats a 10/10 artistic choice
For me this era was Nakamura in his prime. Even better than he is currently in 2024

never watched soul eater this motivated me to watch it. gonna watch it now bye
real for that
I know it doesn't really conform to the animation pipeline, but does Nakamura do any of the cleanup work for his cuts?
Yessir 😌😎👌
Endless sadness

Soul Eater was far from perfect plot-wise but you can't really beat the character designs or animation.
The ending sucked but everything else was great

Soul Eater was great, wth you smoking
Facts. Fire Force is an infinitely better story with a better script. He definitely learned what to improve upon after this show
