I hope the actress that played Mo Fei, received an award for her performance. Her eyes and facial expression when her heart was broken, seeing and hearing her boyfriend at the party. You felt her pain of betrayal. Believable.

Even when you find someone you love, they lie; either by omission, or out right lying...and for what I still don't understand. Why would you keep a friend a secret from your girlfriend? Why would you keep ANYTHING of significance, from the person you love? He's a jerk for saying, "... I wanted to tell you slowly...", about WHAT if it's so innocent? However, the fact that he keeps such trivial matters from her...FROM THE START, means, he isn't an honest guy ,especially where it counts...in the trust and truth departments!
Actually i got in the same situation and as stupid as it seems, in fact the boy don't want to hurt one of the girls so he just delay it again and again thinking they won't find out about it until one does and sever ties. Typical weak people that can't make a choice hurting both.
AWKWARD moment. This is definitely a shock in the system for Mo Fei. Mingxuan failed this. He should have told her about his childhood friend Qian since he really did not have any feelings for her. By lying and hiding things from Mo Fei, he created a feeling of doubt in her mind, there's no other way ro defend it. She has every reason to be upset. He canceled their date on their anniversary and lied about working.

I am so the type of female that if my boyfriend preaches about not keeping secrets i'd be throwing his words back at him. Screw the right situation to talk, its called at home over dinner "i'd like to talk to you discussion" not that hard. Take the time and explain things. Is that really that hard? what kind of situation did he need to be in to find the right time? I mean to me that's how you learn about each other is asking questions and getting stories of each other's past and such. Especially if an old girlfriend/boyfriend might pop up out of nowhere or you are still friends with them then your current girlfriend/boyfriend needs a headsup i would think. That's what made me so angry - he is constantly telling her not to keep secrets from him and then he does this and barely even sees that he's wrong, he just "couldn't find the right time to tell her." This isn't just some old friend who's shown up, it's a girl who's in love with him and who he was literally engaged to before and it's not just that he didn't tell her, he lied to her about what he was doing when he wasn't with her. Ugh this is one of the few times in a drama where I actually wanted the argument to go on longer, I wish Mo Fei had been angrier and gotten him to realize what he did wrong.

This is indeed damaging her faith in him. I know exactly this situation. You feel you can do whatever you want, you're never good enough. Not good enough to be accepted as an equal in his society. Excluded. When it happened to me, it broke something in me that couldn't be mended anymore. Although I loved him, I left him for good. There was no way I would have felt welcomed or accepted in his circle ever again. It's been years now and I have still not regained faith in anyone. But when I think of him, at least, it doesn't hurt anymore. I stopped missing him. I'm thinking of him from time to time because he has never married either, but when he tried to approach me some time ago, I didn't feel the same as before. It's broken. Trust must be earned and taken care of as it can be so easily be broken, sometimes completely destroyed, by the lack of honesty. Honest communication is absolutely VITAL to a long-lasting relationship - I'm married 38 years so I can at least have an informative opinion on this. :) Believe me, love and relationships take work, understanding and TRUST. Exactly he had problems when the gf talk to other guy and he said not to keep any secret but he was continuously lying to the gf and giving excuses. That girl is not only his childhood friend ; he knows that she loves him from a long time and he was even engaged to her and he always thinks about that girl more time than his gf.

He was disgusting to hide it from the gf for all this time and meet the girl by saying to the gf that he is busy in work.
