- This hand cranked saw set was rotting in a barn for a couple of decades, it wasn't used for at least 40 years
I decided to restore this antique tool, as I may build a band saw in the near future
This type of machine purpose is to bend the teeth of the saw at a specific angle, to facilitate the cut. The test a the end was to check how it works, I don't know yet how to properly tune this thing :) Наука
I found this tool (USSR-made) today in the garage of my grandfather and now I know for what it is. Thank you very much
I want one! A great restoration of a less common tool which always makes them more interesting. Thank you for showing it working, I’m really pleased you did that.
A fantastic video.
Nicely done 👍👍👍
Belle réalisation.
Y a des mouvement mécanique qu’on pourrait observer pendant des heures ;)
Merci pour ce partage
Woot! Another real restoration channel and not a fake rust one. Subbed!!
Very good restoration bro 👍👍👍👍
Linda restauração, parabens pela pintura perfeita! continue assim, sucesso.
excelente trabajo Saludos desde Argentina
Looks great.
Ok muy buena restauración un like 👏👏
I think I read a while ago in a comment that the gloves can catch on the wire easily. Looks good
You're right, standard safety gloves can catch on the brush, already had the problem ^^ thoses thin nitrile gloves just break if they catch, I sometimes use welding gloves on bigger brushes, I made some tests and they never catch
Shoulda put a washer brass if you have one to act as shim before you put the two bolts on the vice section. This would give you a smoother operation and prevent gouging and wear this would work between all your moving and turning parts it wouldn't surprise me if originally they existed I don't think you were the first one to disassemble this machine.
Awesome
Cool
You are not bad poluchaetsya be restored, continue in the same spirit, l’ll wait new videos
Thank you, I have some plans for next videos ;) !
Fine, l’ll wait 🤝🤝🤝🤝
Tremendo!
I wanted to see more smoothing of the iron and more silvering of all the screws and metal parts. Still good.
Nice job. Disregard the negative trolls...
How do you remember where what part goes where? I'd be lost if I had so many parts to put back together. Lol. 👍👍👍👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Good cleanup job! For an old piece of machinery, the hammer tone paint was the correct choice. It was used a lot in the good old days, therefore fitting. Please be more careful with the screw drivers, I feared throughout the video clip that you where going to stab yourself!
👍👍👍
Being from the 1960's according to your title you should have tested the paint for lead before taking it off with a wire wheel
😘👍👍👍
Hammerite: the lazy man's paint.
Not lazy, years of development to get the paint right for rust protection. When done right Hammerite can last just as long as other paints. But, I must admit it the metal does need preparing correctly priming and two good coats of paint to look and preform well.
Looks good if done right.
A little Hammerite goea a long way and that point was passed about 2 years ago.....
"I" really really wish you'd use appropriately sized screwdrivers!

good paint and good job, BUT WHERE IS THE GREASE OR THE OIL IN THE MECHANISM WHEN YOU CHEER UP THE MACHINE. IF YOU DON'T GREASE THE PIECES IN MOVEMENT. THE RUST WILL COME AGAIN.
Hello, I had a lot of comments on that, don't worry, everything was oiled, but not everything is on camera, I'll be careful to show thoses steps on next videos :)
@@forgottentoolsrestoration1786 OK, i think to me, he forget . thank you for the response about that.
The Good : You showed it operating after the cleanup.
The Bad: You didn't show the lead paint check. Also I would have blasted it with more WD40 or 3in1.
The Ugly: Hammerite Paint.
What the hell is it?
A hand cranked liquid cooled metal saw.
It's for offset bending the teeth in a bandsaw blade. This increases the band's ripsawing action which equals quicker smoother. Cuts. This probably sat in the barn next to a plank cutting mill
It was 'Ok', bordering on crap, there must have been a hundred things you could have done to restore the machine..............................you chose to clean it and paint over crap you hadn't cleaned off properly.
Kevin, what video did you watch? The piece was cleaned adequately. What else out of the "hundred" things needed to be done? What's the name of your YT site so I can learn from you.....
Totally agree
@@bobjones9727 Take a look at Ruben Calderons reply, fuck it! I'll copy it. "Take a look to mymechanics or Hand Tool Rescue channels. You will discover the meaning of RESTORATION". Happy now?

At least he is giving it a chance. Not everyone can afford a sand blaster and a powder coat system. Some people would actually say powder coating antiques lowers the value and ruins them.
I have a few machines I plan to restore on video, I have been restoring thing for years.
This was a paint job, not a restoration.
