and how many more thousands are left in the ground waiting to be found and identified and returned to their homeland. i assume it will take many decades to locate all the deceased young soldiers lost on both sides.. russian and germans all brave men.. politics aside.. they all sacrified their lives for a cause.. war always takes away the young.. thank you young russian men for the work you are performing. RIP ALL WHO PERSHISED IN THAT TERRIBLE WAR!!
This is a fantastic channel! Thank you for sharing. Is it possible to tell viewers the approximate areas where these searches and digs occur? The locations could certainly add historical context and perspective as to what phase of the war these soldiers fought and died in.
It seems possible that these excavators limit information concerning locations, to avoid the problem of attracting scavengers. The excavators of these videos give the impression of deep respect, for the human remains and for the possessions uncovered in the trenches. It seems clear that these remains have been delivered to living relatives of these soldiers, whenever possible. In related videos, I have noticed that unidentified remains have been re-buried in military and private cemeteries. Scavengers scavenge just to acquire helmets, gear, and even human remains for sale to equally disrespectful people. If they can discover the approximate location of a legitimate excavation, they will travel the long distance to collect any remaining items, even if it's going to be necessary to tear up private property to collect these possessions.
I have a question about the soldier who had the cross necklace. It is my understanding that the USSR and Stalin in particular was very anti-church. Along the lines of it gave the people something other than the state to be loyal to. Obviously that didn't stop Russians from being religious, but how would a Soviet soldier at the time be seen having such a possession? If a Commisar happened to see him with it, would it cause problems?
Are you guys amateur or professional ordinance disposal personnel? From what I can see, you seem pretty careless handling old grenades and mines. Even though they are old, they may not be inert. I hope nothing tragic happens because I really enjoy the historical context.
The Soviets lost 24 million people and had widespread destruction everywhere along the eastern front from the Black Sea to Finland. I would wager digging up old fighting positions was low on their list of priorities. Not to mention the authorities wouldn't be too thrilled about civilians coming back from a camping trip loaded up with small arms and explosives.
I'd like a good knife, a large one. Something along the lines of any make bayonet. Don't care if grip is rotted off just blade and metal scabbard. Prefer a metal one.
I have never heard that Soviet soldiers had had any dog tags from metal. Some had а capsule with a paper where they could point their name and address, but it had been considered like a bad luck.
Fuck the wars, I commemorate the soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in the 2nd world war, regardless of their race, I hope such a nightmare will not happen again !

I appreciate how you guys locate and return the fallen on both sides. You provide answers and closure to families on both sides.

Why weren’t these sites during Soviet times? Were people not allowed to search or not given time off to look? Thanks

These guys are robbing graves for RUclips clicks and likes, and a few rusty cans. Is this what they do for a living?
They identify bodies with tags and get them back to their families.
This is Russian soldiers
