Your dedication to this series is impressive. I admire the number of people there already setting up Christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving.. Very nice community and many well kept properties, always a good sign. I noticed in addition to Meijers they also have a Kroger, proving your point about Davison Township being more like one big community. Great episode Chris 👏 Always enjoy your work.. And the Eminem joke was pretty funny 😁
I graduated from DHS in the 60's and have been away from there for 56 years. I still consider Davision my hometown. It was a pleasant place to grow up.
Another enjoyable watch..... Chris, if your ever in Maine, how about a vid on Millinocket, East Millinocket and Medway ---- former papermill towns. By the way I live in CA now, and like many of your vid's show, "it's not what it used to be." At 20:38 you forgot to mention the "Rare" red Chrysler Crossfire on the right side of the street.
concerning Meijers 👉 As a lifelong girl-watcher ("i'm a girl watcher" - 1964 - the O'Kaysions) i can unequivocally state that Meijers has a higher clientele than Wal-Mart . . .
I went shopping at the Davison Farmers Market and several other business. Had a lovely lunch at Apollo restaurant. Everyone was so relaxed, polite and friendly. I love Davison!
Lived there from 1962 to 1974. I remember going to the butcher and the Ben Franklin when I was a boy. Mom shopped at Hamady (sp?) for groceries. And yes, the middle school used to be the High School. My dad graduated from there in 1955. I also went there for a year. Not sure which grade. Maybe 6th or 7th. I remember when they built the (new) high school back in the early ‘70s. Used to be near a really big hill that we used to sled down. Thanks for the video. Brings back some memories.
My adopted city after i grew up in flint when my father died my mother found us a house to live in Davison and finished high school I met some great people there it was a huge change that I welcomed I am proud to call it my Hometown I moved out of state in 2014 but I always think about Davison and how good it was to me . I miss it
My grandfather built a couple homes and had a service station, first trailer park (Davison trailer park) and the first taxi service. Sometime in the 30s-40s..
You missed John Sinclair who’s hometown is Davison and JC’s was not a store - it was the Davison JC’s (Junior Chamber of Commerce) that sold flags as a fund raiser that got the “City of Flags” moniker for Davison - I grew up there.
I own/live in the house John Sinclair grew up in (until his Mom left his Dad & took the kids to what my VERY conservative parents called a hippie commune down by Ann Arbor) My Dad was the local mortician back then & buried John's dad (my dad referred to him as old man Sinclair)
Class of 1979......moved out there in the fall of 1972......and again, you pass by a former home location for my wife & I......the apartment complex on the right at the hill on Lapeer Road after you left Meijer, from 2000 to 2005......worked at the Salvation Army store in 2011 & 2012......and yes, Central Elementary is the original high school, the classes from at least 1930 to 1962 graduated from that facility......and something else Davison has that Grand Blanc doesn't......a state championship football team, in 2019......and on State Road after the Cypress turn, another apartment complex where my wife & I lived when we were first married......Collingwood Estates from 1997 to 2000......used to work @ the Speedway at the corner of Irish & Court, just retired from there......
@@lowellwhite1603 that is no contradiction. Davison is not affluent. Davison is overwhelmingly working class in fact, with a significant poverty rate. It's just not depressed like Flint.
@@lowellwhite1603 As for Michael Moore he doesn't say he's working class though his background is very much working class. It's true his dad rose up to become a line manager eventually but he was an auto assembly line worker when Michael was little while his mom was a secretary. Michael Moore is of course wealthy now but he started off workings class and is a college dropout, as is very common for people from his background who have not found the success he has. Much of his extended family remain working class today as well.
Davison ain’t that nice they just got sum funding but it’s getting kinda dangerous prob due to ppl from Flint moving to it but I live in the southside of Flint and Davison ain’t that good
Yup 2 years ago my house got broken into I'm right near the farmers market. Took everything except furniture lol. Came back from my trip with my door wide open and have had cams and motion sensors ever since 😂

You are absolutely correct! Central Elementary used to be used as Davison High School from 1932(ish) until the current building was finished in 1972.
Thank you for letting me revisit my hometown. I’m a long ways from “home”. This helps with the pangs of homesickness.
The museum is back open now since covid
Might be the nicest Ace Hardware storefront I've ever seen.
I cant believe you missed Rollaway lanes on main st. Its been in business around 90 years..

3:02 was that literally a Marx Big-Boy that's still open? That's so retro. Love the orange trim and that sign.
Unfortunately not open anymore
Big Boy closed. A Mexican restaurant is coming.

There were all kind of Trade Shows in Davison that i never got to ... but always wondered what Davison was like . So this is cool ! 👍

Fun fact at the 8:15 mark on yer left that was Timmy T's house, it was different color though back then ❤
Thank you, Chris.
1st! Davison Resident
Me too!
Same
Had to drive through davison for work in lapeer many times, I’ve gassed up @ M15 n lapeer rd speedway a lot 2, Good stuff again Chris ✌🏾
Another athlete from Davison and NFL standout Barry Stokes

Do my hometown of Swartz Creek!! It’s a really nice place!
Love Davison, used to work there. Their Meijer is very nice.

Weren’t you going to do one of these videos about Swartz Creek?
I'm sure he's getting to it. He seems to be working his way through the suburbs. He has others he hasn't done, like Flint Township.
@@jrhaven I would be interested in both Flint Township (where I grew up), and Swartz Creek (where I went to school).
@@lawrencealberts898 Same. I spent my first few months of life in Swartz Creek before we moved to the house I grew up in in Flint Township.
What JR said
My hometown. I’ve lived here every year of my life except for 5 years away at college in Indiana.
Where do you get your historical facts on the communities you visit? As a former Davisonian, you did good!
I live here !
My grandfather built a couple homes and had a service station, first trailer park (Davison trailer park) and the first taxi service. Sometime in the 30s-40s..
Very interesting. I thought Grand Blanc was the place in Genessee but now I’m not sure.
Grand Blanc and Fenton are nicer, but Davison isn’t bad.
I don't know why I watched this, I drive these roads every day and have for almost 40 years.
You even passed my house !

Chris, you did good not adding a s to Meijer when you mentioned it in the video. As you know that a lot of Michiganders pronounce it Meijers.

Even though he calls Flint his hometown, Mark Farner is actually from Davison.
westphalia mi is also a nice town
Was that Hardly Davison?
This is actually where Michael Moore grew up.
Yes, indeed it is! Most of the (relatively well paid) Auto workers actually lived in Flint suburbs such as Davison rather than in Flint itself.
Yes. He says he’s a working class guy from Flint but in reality he is from the more affluent suburb of Davison.
Just to clarify I am not a fan of Mr Moore.
