If you can’t get your oil changed because of an issue on the internet… you’re doing it wrong.
Can’t charge out the parts and update the ticket etc. it’s gotta be done there is no here we will just charge u $70 have a good day.

Just wait until some cyber weirdo hacks into a system and makes your "smart" appliances turn on you. You'll open your "smart" refrigerator looking for something to eat, and IT will eat you.......
This also has affected shops that repair 18 wheelers as well. It isn’t just automotive shops. It is much bigger and has a bigger effect than what is being reported.
18 wheelers are serviced at automotive shops because they are automobiles. They can only report what's been confirmed (as a news outlet should). If the companies that work on the 18 wheelers don't admit they have been affected the news can't say they confirmed they have been affected, because the company didn't confirm it.

You’d think they could afford better cybersecurity.
They probably didn't have any at all! The CA Dept of Ed including my school got hit 3 years ago & had to start from scratch to reestablish everything by hand, including our 80,000 piece curriculum library & 2 other book libraries entered by hand because we had no cybersecurity. The IT dept had requested some stronger cybersecurity software before that happened but were turned down by the State of CA because it was considered too expensive. It was more expensive to get not 1 but 2 ransomware attacks & have to fix it. Ransom was NOT paid.

Wow, "having to assist with manual transactions to help serve their customers", such a novelty. We can't control or secure what we've implemented already and yet we're hoping to be outsmarted by Artificial Intelligence any day now.

Just don’t link your entire business to the internet, use separate unconnected systems.

Before computers and internet, there was pen and paper,plus adding machines all manual, there were no Cyber attacks. Some things should go back to basics

Wow. That's why it's good, if possible, to be able to conduct transactions and keep records without the internet or even electricity. Use receipts with carbon copies, for example, have cash, etc. At one time cash registers in stores operated without electricity, and inventory info didn't need computers. It's great to have the internet and electricity, but being able to keep going in a temporary disruption with a back-up plan is a good idea.

I suspect Daewoo is behind this, been jealous for years.
It's almost like we shouldn't be putting the internet into everything and making it all controlled digitally. Just think our food processing and power, among other vital systems, are just as vulnerable.

Having trouble getting your oil changed at your local car dealership?
We use Reynolds, but I did hear about this on Friday at the parts counter since technicians went to pick up parts cuz they couldn’t do any work. Ouch. Heard they got that shop shiny lol. -I work for Stellantis and we use Reynolds at our dealer.
I can change the oil for your vehicle at half the price all I ask is that you learn as I show you the process so that you can do it "yerself"!

If you own old cars. You don't have to worry about any of this. If you have points ignition and a carburetor. You don't even have to worry about an EMP attack😂 everybody else will be stuck. We'll just drive right around them😂

Hmm just wondering. Will the next cyber attack be directed at the vehicles themselves? Yup. Probably. And while everybody else is crippled and stuck. I will be driving to work and back to home.
