Living in Spain - Dangerous Caterpillars

i watched these critters for hours in punta paloma forrest..nr tarifa..i was camping there..they went up the pine tree..then down..then up again...then down..before burying them selves in the sand...maybe the one in front was blind..!!!

In Pennsylvania we have some furry caterpillers in summer but I've never encountered a stinging one. But my wife from Brazil is deathly afraid of them. So apparently they have these buggers in Brasil as well and they sting and are just plain nasty.

Used to have to watch your step n carry a flashlight where I lived they're quite a problem

I heard these were in america as well but iv never seen them. I plan on moving to spain or portugal later in my life. Dont wanna constantly worry about bugs 🤣

Today, in central Portugal I installed 3 caterpillar traps on 3 pine trees in and adjacent to our home where there are numerous nests. Each installation took about an hour after watching the online video carefully. I ordered the materials in kit form from the Algarve.
