Does anyone think it’s cool how Memphis has both one of the tallest players in modern NBA history and one of the shortest?? Maybe it’s just a novelty but it would be cool if it adapts their play style.
I think Yuki does have a chance in the NBA. He has already proven his skill is quite capable to perform at a high level. The real question is whether if NBA will give him a chance. So far with the Grizzlies, they haven’t seem to have given him much opportunity to prove himself. At the end, they haven’t seem Grizzlies offer does look more like a marketing move.
So far Yuki has 3 Major plus points. His acceleration which helps bring attention to himself and his passing skills and his visualisation of the court which allows him to find the right teammate to pass to. I have a feeling Yuki has been looking to make more passes as compared to his time in Japan. I am guessing this is due to the skill level of his teammates. I am not saying that Japan basketball is bad, but comparatively to NBA, there is still a gap. So most probably during training, Yuki feels that his teammates have a higher probability in scoring than himself making him take less shots. This is further compounded by his early missed shots in the pre-season games which most probably affected his confidence a bit. Overall, Yuki really needs to work on his 3 pointers in the game setting and make more consistent shots. Once he does this, his offensive edge will really be elevated as he will be able to attract more attention at the 3 point line giving him more options when making a play. Defensively, he is not the worst considering his size. He always tries to put pressure on the attacker causing them to make mistakes. However, the same mistakes might not occur or is less likely to occur against veterans in the NBA setting.
So far 3 games into the season Yuki has got 2 DNP's and just 2 minutes in the 3rd game. He was very exciting in preseason but looks like Memphis is just holding him as a project player.
Yuki starts slow and needs minutes to get going. Patience is needed. He goes off in spurts .And, if given a chance, he will deliver. A project team could use him.
I'm not Japanese but I liked his playstyle, wanna see him playing atleast 20min! Becaue his style similar to Jason Williams which NBA doenst have any in years... I'll watch his games if will play.
I mean, I fail to see how this guy can succeed when Campazzo failed, they are basically the same player except Campazzo war better at everything when he was at Denver. When serious games come around, guys will just shoot over him, which in modern NBA is a death sentence. There's just no compensation for height today.
Gerbiami basketnews, toks pavadinimas kaip pvz. "Can Japan's 5'8 Guard Be Succesful In The NBA?" That's all :)
it's 90% a marketing move. his offense can be completely shut down simply by never doubling, never switching, fighting every single screen and picking the most caveman option in the defense for anything that he or his team throws at them. he needs more space than anyone else in the league to shoot or make anything else happen in the offense. In the defense, the opponents can just pick on him whereas he and his team needs to exert extra effort in order to cover up where he comes short (pun intended).
@@Thanos1908 in football, Japan has produced great players and the J league is getting better and doesn't need big names like before. So your point makes no sense.
@@Thanos1908 japan ranked #1 in the world in badeball. Japan ranked #3 in men:s volleyball and ranked #15 in football. In basketball japan rank #21 in the world so it' s not impossible for a few japanese to make the nba.
It's nice to see a Japanese be good at basketball sometimes. But I wish they stopped DEI signings like him. Keep Basketball for White and Black players only please.

Like Muggsy and Manute Bol on the Washington Bullets!
And both of them are asian

I think he has to prove his shooting can be as good in the nba as it was in the olympics. Either way i'm exited to watch him play.
He's a defensive liability.
Not his fault tho, the height difference is too much.
I hope he makes it and gets really good
Yuki is a great phenomenon passer player great IQ and has a great posing pace 🔥🔥

it's a long long season. We might get his chance
Pretty much.
Well Ja have a tendency of getting himself out of the game.. Yuki might get his chance.
Yuki will make it
The guy is already better than ANYBODY on the Denver bench ... I've watched him play and I've watched the Denver bench guys 'attempt' to play.
Why dont you just stop with this 5’8”. He is a good player. It is so easy to hate.
Yuki needs to train with Curry or CP3
the ability of misdirection! straight up anime MC!

Miami needs to sign him
He just need more minutes.
I think partially its a marketing move but they saw something in him.
he just need to play like isaiah thomas from 2017
There is a problem of Isaiah is defense
Lol it's funny that they felt the need to specify "Japanese", as opposed to just asking if a 5' 8" guard can make it in the league
I mean a being Japanese or Asian in is almost as unlikely as being 1.72cm in the NBA
Who else thinks that Basketnews think that only Europeans deserve to be in the NBA?😂😂😂😂😂
He can be a solid play if he can have just half of the Isaiah Thomas shooting performance
*cries in McClung*
The elephant in the room he’s way better then Lebron bum son
This could be Bronny if he played a few more years in college
Yes. Memphis team will be very rich. Massive Asian fans.
Yes.. He is a good player but he is too small for the NBA..

no way, he would be 0 in deffence with 1,72 and 72kg.. Even Sabrina Ionescu would be better, because she is top shooter
They’ll need to hide him on defense.
Ill watch Yuki v Sabina
No, he can't be...This isn't about Sports its about opening the Japanese market.
the nba already has a japanese market…..
@@milesmoralescousin its not about the NBA in general , but the team in specific.
