খাবারের পরিমাণ বেশি হয়ে গেলে কিংবা সার প্রয়োগের মাত্রা বেশি হলে শ্যাওলা দেখা যায়। এসময় খাবারের পরিমাণটা কিছুটা কমিয়ে দেওয়া উচিত।
পুকুরের তলায় মল মুত্রের উপস্থিতি এবং জমা হবার কারণে অনেক সময় গন্ধ আসতে পারে।
পুকুরে জৈব সার হিসাবে খড়ের পরিবর্তে খড়ের মূল বা নারা ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে।
পুকুরে প্রাকৃতিক ভাবে বায়োফ্লক তৈরি হওয়ার জন্য প্রতি শতকের জন্য 50 গ্রাম করে মোলাসেস বা চিটাগুড় প্রতিমাসে দিলে একটা দারুণ বেনিফিট পাওয়া যাবে।
